This does not mean that Venezuela has become some sort of socialist paradise. What it does mean is that when a regime begins to intentionally address the problems faced by poor and working class people, serious progress can be made.

Hugo Chavez is hated by Bu$h Leaguers everywhere - which makes him my hero!:) While Bu$h the Le$$er allowed oil companies to gouge heating oil prices back a few years ago, Hugo offered his country's oil at wholesale to states & individual communities in the USA!:) He helped the American poor MORE than Bu$h ever did!!!!

Thanks Brian, we've read it with excitement yesterday evening! You might want to read this one too;

This gives them an extremely powerful, yet at the same time a very vulnerable position. Venezuela is a beautiful example of people power and I love it, but at the same time I am overly concerned about environmental consequences.
Let's not forget; the only way to deflate the bully is by standing up to it!

Our nation could use a leader that cares as much for the well-being as the people. El Presidente Chavez is not for sale to the highest corporate bidders. Our politicians cannot say as much.

This could warm a progressive's heart, just the opposite of the Romney Imperialism horse poo.

Noted...just adding my thanks, Brian, and sorry I'm unable to send you another green star yet. The people have spoken. I'll be interested in finding out whether he can keep those TransNational Corporations out of Venezuela's business. I wish him much luck.

That's ok, Lois. I'd send you a green star, but the system tells me it's too soon since the last time.
