"Three provisions in the bill would make it more difficult to regulate the safety of genetically modified crops. Consumers fight back with a flurry of organizing."

You are both absolutely right. What does it take to get this abomination stopped? One wonders if the corporate powers will figure it out, when consumers start spontaneously dumping GMO foods in the aisles at their grocers.

Why stop at throwing their food on the floor, lets poke little holes in each package and then show them to whomever works there that this item has a hole in it, it can not be sold as it might be spoiled. I know, I know, we can not really do that but it made me feel better to type it lol.

They say 12/21/12 is supposed to be the end of the world. Well, I say it sure is!! The end of the world as the arrogant, assinine, bleep bleep's who run everything know it! We are going back to the old days. I wonder what kind of response the bleep bleep's will get when they find out they can't eat money. Just too bad Mother Earth and her inhabitants have to suffer at the expense of their crudeness. Blessings to all who love Mother Earth and care for her and her inhabitants. The rest of you--what goes around comes around.

*These three provisions in the 2012 Farm Bill would grant regulatory powers solely to the United States Department of Agriculture, preventing other federal agencies from reviewing GMO applications and preventing the USDA from accepting outside money for further study. The bill would also shorten the deadline for approval to one year, with an optional 180-day extension.

And here’s the kicker: the approval time bomb. If the USDA misses the truncated review deadline, the GMO in question is granted automatic approval.

Does any one remember the purpose of the USDA or FDA? To combat this we need more money...yes more money put into these consumer protection groups. Avoid shopping in the grocery stores, most of that is Frankfood. Shop weekly at the farmers market, there is one around you need but find it, shop carefully know the farmers in your area, learn how they farm and what they use as fertilizer, do they use pesticides, what type? It's your health and the health of your family. It may take a little effort to shop away from the super shiny grocery stores, but the only way to make change happen is to stop buying things are not good for you.

Noted. Would love to say something on this topic but then I wouldn't stop. Wish this horror would stop though.

Eat organic, heritage seed foods. Effectively boycotting GMOs and Monsanto can drive them out of business, just as they did the farmers of America.

Whoever controls the food controls us all. Monsanto, in corporate terms, is attempting a hostile takeover...of everything. We must reject GMO food wherever it raises its ugly head.

The theory is if you live in a state that is solidly red or blue and you vote third party, it won't matter. I beg to differ.

Considering how many of US there are who are worried about GMOs, climate change, energy, corporate influence, and the environment in its entirety, voting third party is taking away a vote away from Obama. Those who say that those third party voters would "just not vote" are really very sad indeed because if one chooses not to vote at all if there is not a candidate who agrees with all of your particular views, is not only apathetic, but also selfish.

Just imagine what will happen to this economy, environment, and influence of corporations if Romney is elected. Jill Stein will be a distant memory and a regret of many who threw away their vote to make a point.

Those who say Obama will win regardless of third party votes are only touting a new (third) party line, but also doing what they dislike most about the two major parties. They are being dishonest so as to solicit more votes!
