So far the "no" votes win the day. I believe that some other way of worship of a deity must be selected as an alternative to killing animals.

It is hard to fathom why some magical being is so thirsty for blood...unless, of course, they are a vampire. I hope more people comment here, but also at the site.

Thanks again Brian for this one. I was in fact just discussing this very subject this evening with my husband. The idea of killing innocent animals cannot and should be justified here---it's PAST DUE that this ancient and barbaric practice be silenced.~

i do not support animal - or human - sacrifice, but i do support freedom of relegion...and fear the slippery road that limiting it in ANY way could put our feet on.

A resounding NO. No religion that involves sacrificing a species other than your own is worth anything at all. These people always kill a defenceless animal - how could that be in any way moral?

How brain-washed must the ignorant be that tthey actually believe the cruel, brutal slaughter of any animal gives them the path to a better life? How can worshipping any deity justify the horrific slaughter that goes on in some religions?

Animal sacrifices I am sure originated out of a way to get out of human sacrifices. Therefore, "sacrifice" an effigy of an animal- you are still following the ritual- just nothing has to die for it.

Many atrocities have been committed in the name of God or Religion. Slaughtering animals is just one more reason for thinking humans (those who can still think) to free themselves from such barbaric behaviors. "Tradtion" is usually barbaric anyway, and is never an excuse to do anything.
