Why halt the deportation of parents? And why aren't the kids going with them?

Breaking up families was one of the more unique aspects of American slavery. Historically, other cultures may have practiced slavery, but most of them placed a value on keeping families together. It is no surprise then that undocumented workers, many of whom work in conditions that greatly resemble slavery, find their families under attack by a hostile government and a fairly racist culture.
