25 years? Please get a raincheck. The Agribusiness developed by the Rockefeller Foundation put these plans into motion in the 60s beginning with Mexico. They were the forerunners of GMOs and were set in motion by Cargill, DuPont and USAID.
Of course that got coupled with the austerity programs of Friedmanomics and Monetarism that has reduced our world in many cases to wage slaves. This is what is happening in the US. The pigeons have come home to roost.

Hope we are making progress: yes, the campaign that includes both people seriously concerned with personal health effects and a common idea that we want to know what we're eating is working.
