A 5-year-old faced with a pile of Legos did what boys have done since the dawn of time: He fashioned a weapon, ran about and made shooting sounds. That's when the Massachusetts elementary school sent a letter to his parents.

Good job Giana on your first time posting.

Zero-tolerance has led to zero common sense.

All there is in this Country is a war on something or someone, wars on terror, war on drugs, war on women, war on our children. It all amounts to a society that is at war with itself.

America was never perfect, it had some places it needed to change or improve, there is always room for all types of improvement. But the changes I've seen this last 30 years just go from bad to worse. This isn't a nice place to live overall. If the Corporations are not screwing you, the politicians are, or the insane rules that are set up trip one up at every turn.

I'm glad I'm nearing 60, I wouldn't want to be just starting out in this mess. I'll do what I can while I have breath to try to stem this tide of crap and push some of it back. The youth of this Country have a lot of work in the future to do to bring forth some sanity and common sense, otherwise I pity them. This is what happens when a society is molded for the benefit of the Corporations and not the Human Beings. Nothing humane anymore. Is why we are in such a violent way, it's a society emploding upon itself, and our children are growing up into a world that for human beings it is not geared for anymore. That we beat them down for such minor things as acting like a child is truly a sad testimony to our out of control society.

Another sad story just put on by Brian if anyone would care to read. This is happening all to frequent as this article also mentions.
7 year old, arrested, handcuffed, interrogated for 10 hours, charged with robbery and assault for Maybe taking $5 and playground scuffle

Kit's story....School to Prison Pipeline......Lets keep those privatized cells full, cheap labor too. Higher profits all around. Empty cells don't make money. Our children are funneled to one of three places, consumer, soldier, or prisoner. It starts early and the poorer one is and if you are of color the less one has at picking which it will be.

Thanks Giana for posting the link to the article by Vera H-C Chan. Please let kids be kids. They didn't have Legos when I was a child back in the 50s. I used a stick as a rifle when we played "cowboys and indians" in the school. Read and noted
