To put a human face on our ancestors, scientists from the Senckenberg Research Institute used sophisticated methods to form 27 model heads based on tiny bone fragments, teeth and skulls collected from across the globe.

Thank you Giana, I was completely captivated. If we look at our continents and the people who live there, we can see that we have all changed since recorded time. When we look at the historical homes, we can see that people were much shorter than we are now. Also just look at all the different Nationalities and how much different they are once they began marrying out of their ethnic families. We have maintained some of our ancestors characteristics but we have also added or subtracted other characteristics. It would be interesting to study the faces of an Italian from 1500 and an Italian that had married someone from a different ethnic background and trace that lineage to 2013! I would say it would be quite different than the original. My own family were Germanic and some of my ancestors married American Indians. There is another interesting group to study. American Indians, although not extinct, were decimated by the early settlers and many were killed and others sent to reservations while still others married white people thus bringing about changes to their lineage. What characteristics remain in our own lifetime on earth? What characteristics have changed? All the things that man has invented have changed humans and we will continue to change as we invent new things and travel to places we have never been before perhaps intermingling with other species from distant planets! What a concept!!!
