Hundreds of coins, intact lamps and even ancient gold jewelry have been found in Israel, curiously discarded hundreds of years ago in a Byzantine garbage dump.

Maybe some of the coins and jewelry fell into the pit by accident - such things can happen when taking out the trash!
Or, maybe somebody threw jewelry into the garbage "for revenge", to "get back" at someone no longer a "friend"...
Or, maybe somebody thought the garbage was the perfect place to hide things of value - who'd look there? - and they just never managed to come back for them...
The intact lamps sound like they might be the contents of a lamp shop, there must be a story behind that... the owner went out of business maybe and didn't want anybody else to have the lamps...

Fascinating, anyway. One could write whole novels based on this!
