Strange days in Missouri. Why strange? KY3 News has been receiving multiple reports that people in southeast Springfield have been "attacked" by owls, plural, or perhaps just one particularly aggressive owl.

This is the first time I've heard of that type of expression of territoriality in owls, although I and people I know have experienced similar reactions from hummingbirds, Canada geese and mockingbirds. It's interesting and lucky that one of the women didn't feel threatened by the owl who landed on her.

two people here stated the owl was gentle when it landed on them. ditto Alan. just a curious owl perhaps. i admit it's a strange feeling having a bird attempt to fly at your head. 3 crows once flew at my head but only because they were trying to protect a baby crow on the ground.

i had a great horned owl couple in my backyard raising chicks for a few seasons. everything around my house disappeared. didn't see a squirrel for years, even the foxes were killed and the stray cats were either killed or they took off.
found the female on my deck one night when i went out to smoke, i thought my eyes were deceiving me was huge. but she flew among the branches of the trees in my backyard so easy. couldn't believe she would fit thru those branches but she did. must be small owls attacking people, the birds (well really the female) could kill if it attacks.

Perhaps nature is finally fighting back? Or maybe the owl was hoping there might be another Harry Potter movie?
