This horror took place in a slaughter house in Bursa, Turkey. This mother cow was dis-emboweled and her calf dragged from her body and killed, then it was discarded into the trash!!!!!!!!!
There are no words to describe the horror of this, or the terrible suffering caused to this mother and her calf. It is unimaginable, the abuse and the pain that she went through at the hands of man.
Sadly, this is not an isolated incident, but one that takes place daily in slaughter houses throughout the world.....

OMG! I see with much sadness how people are getting crueler and more evil every day, I didn't finish watching the video, I couldn't see the suffering and torture of this poor cow, and the butchers look like they are enjoying that. It seems like some kind of people never learn how to show LOVE, RESPECT, AND COMPASSION, maybe it is because they never had that in their home.
Noted with anger and sadness Dearest Anne:)
Love,
Black Dalia:)

I guess this is as good a time as any to say that-and many of you know-I renounced this so-called humanity for what it is -a crime against nature- a long time ago.

I truly believe in karma and know that all parties to these crimes will pay in kind but I have a very small world now that consists of CARE2 and the other higher consciousness beings who really, sincerely know something is wrong and work diligently to right it but HUMANITY-per se-I have nothing more to do with!

Thanks-will take all action-for this travesty...

Is this any differant than what Charles Manson did to poor Sharon Tate? She was with child as well, 8 months pregnant. Life is life. At least be respectful towards the cow for offering it's life. The poor calf, couldn't it at least have lived. Perhaps some poor family could of been given the calf to raise and at least had meat or milk one day. I know many are vegetarians on here, but at least if the meat eaters would be more respectful and not find fun and enjoyment in this that would be a start or step in the right direction.

Noted but sorry can't watch the video, I would not be able to sleep from this cruel tragic event...just reading the comments I have tears falling...I am truly ill...Sorry I can't go there...

This is noted with extreme sorry and tears...will forward when I can recover from this. How can this happen...what is with these these men...they are truly sick people, this is so sad, I am actually in PAIN and didn't see the video...

I want to get my hands on these sick people....I will do a great deal of harm to them even though I probably can't overtake them, but with my ANGER OVER THIS I will truly be on overdrive on this one....SHIT!!!!!

They need to be stuck in a hole with fire ants eating their eyes out!!! Laughing, is what one of the comments said, I am so ill....sorry I won't ever be able to watch this one, but I truly want to get my hands on these totally sick people...I know what I will do and can't put it totally in print, but they will never recover...

This is so sad.

Started watching then quit. I cannot handle this. Makes one want to just NUKE Turkey and everyone in it. But then again this horror takes place on a daily basis in slaughterhouses across the ENTIRE world! Maybe not a pregnant cow, but a cow or a calf or a pig or a sheep or a horse or a chook or a turkey or a dog or a cat or a fish.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANY ANIMAL THAT IS BEING SLAUGHTERED FOR FOOD.

There are tons and tons of meat eaters here at Care2 - in fact the majority are meat eaters!

WELL FOLKS - MEET YOUR MEAT !!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Raffi - my world has become very small too. i now spend all my energy on saving animal lives and working towards educating the public about animal abuse and trap/spay/neuter programs.

For me to move around in the world where the smell of blood permeates everything is daily becoming more and more impossible. It is an ordeal going to any shopping mall etc. - just try walking through a shopping mall without smelling the stench of animal and sea life carcases being fried/cooked/steamed coming from restaurants / fast food outlets. Let us not even talk about the stench wafting out of a 'delicatessen or a butcher shop.......

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HUMANE SLAUGHTER - NO NOT EVEN WITH THE SUGAR COATING OF STUN GUNS AND OTHER HORROR INSTRUMENTS.

How many calves are the victims of veal animal factory farms? Every time you pour a glass of milk and every time you have a milkshake and every time you pour milk into your cereal and coffee/tea you are DIRECTLY responsible for either a calf sent immediately to the slaughter house, or ending up in a pen to be someone's veal delicacy.

DO YOU KNOW HOW VEAL GETS ITS 'delicate' pink colouring???

The calf is deliberately starved of iron!!!

The horror of this video simply puts it in YOUR FACE. A great pity is that this news article is preaching to the converted (at least I hope so).

The only good this article does is it will result in those bastards in Turkey receiving email letters condemning the torture.

NOW HOW ABOUT sending emails with this video link to every meat eater you know? And feel free to include my information on the actual horror cost of each glass of milk!

Drink RICE milk - you will get used to the taste and at least with each swallow you are not contributing to the veal industry.

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY - NO INTELLIGENT LIFE DOWN HERE...........

UUUGGGGGGHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the picture of the dog being used for shark bait - with the hook through its nose, last night. And then, last night I had nightmares about it. This was by far the worse I have even seen. At least, the very least, they killed the poor mother cow befoe they disembowled her,but the poor calf was used as a laughing display for the camera. I wonder just why it was videoed and sent on the internet. I hope it was a sympathizer, but I hardly doubt it. ALL the Turks should be emasculated and their "manhood" given to the pigs to eat. Horrible.

Dear Sir Mayor of Bursa (Turkey) and other interested parties

I have just watched the video of a heavily pregnant cow being slaughtered – and even before she was dead her stomach was ripped open, the calf pulled out – it’s throat slit and still not dead it was repeatedly stabbed in its stomach! Though there is no such thing as humane slaughter, to deliberately add torture to this process can only be the work of sadists.

I don’t believe for a second that you as a respectable leader of your community would condone barbaric acts of this kind. If there is an ounce of decency within your soul – start the immediate prosecution of those directly responsible for this horror and fine this slaughterhouse owners to the maximum allowable by law for allowing this barbaric behaviour – better still shut them down!

Turkey’s reputation insofar as animal abuse goes has just taken a another nose dive towards hell. Your name as the mayor of Bursa is now plastered all over the internet. Your town and its peoples are a disgrace to mankind. In fact – I don’t see how anyone who condones this horror can consider themselves part of the human race. Turkey has a long way to go before it can consider itself ‘civilised’.

Again – I urge you to act immediately against the perpetrators. Today is just one more day of Turkey’s never-ending shame.

I just wonder how they would feel if it were their wife and unborn child done to by another criminal or mob.

Folks this is a common occurrence. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. NOT just with cows, with any animals who are slaughtered like their lives mean nothing. Deer who are hunted are pregnant; whales who are harpooned are pregnant. Dogs and cats in shelters are euthanized while pregnant. Most people just dont THINK about such things. Glad to see people becoming more AWARE....

I always thought that a life born into this world is a joy. But for humansto selfishly murder a life that just entered the world not even seeing its own mother is cruel and inhumane. Very sad. Very sad, horrible, outrageous and unnecessary indeed. Poor calf, poor mother, insipid humans. To both nother and child, I'm sorry. May you rest in peace.

The most heartbreaking part is that the mother ever even got to see her calf. Why? What did the animals do for them to deserve this. With this, with all we do horrible to animals, how can we still go to bed and sleep? To wake up every moring and smile? How? And how, oh, how can we still stand up with pride and call ourselves human?

omg i just signed up for this site this morning and i can't beleive some of the hate comments on this site. wow. you people are damning an entire country for what a couple of guys did in this particular slaughter house . what they did was beyond words i totally agree with you 100%. but to hope disaster on an entire nation is appalling. i need to check back with care2 on some of their polices. oh my god. and alot of you are for human rights as well as animal rights, i just can't beleive it. i signed up for a sight to help all living things. these men can be educated with the lord they can be saved and you people want to destroy the whole country, wow.

This is totally unacceptable as Jeanette says did the morther get to see her child???? Mailey I have nothng against the country where this happened but you have to admit this is shocking news, so please don't just asume all people on Care2 are the same. The hate (probably more anger) is proably due to the shock of what has happened, personally I could not watch the video, the explanation was bad enough. I have made many friends here on Care2 and the thing we all have in common is a passion to stop this kind of abuse to all living things on this planet - but I am afraid the lack of respect that some people have towards life of any kind is enough to make my blood boil. Yes with the Great Spirit's help maybe these men can be changed, but then again a lot of these people have no repsect at all for life, so why should they care about the lord or the Great Spirit, its a dumb animal and that is all they see at the end along with a pay cheque.

This is a vile act of cruelty and should be condemned. I could not watch the video. This happens all over the world albeit, the degree of cruelty likely varies fro slaughterer to slaughterer. This is done because there is an absence of law to prevent it and may be allowed because it's more economical than feeding a cow destined for slaughter until her calf is born. Our governments are just as responsible for this repulsive behaviour. Our efforts should be focused on trying to have the laws changed.

I didn’t watch the video. Just reading about this brutality was more than enough for me. It is just evil. I am a vegetarian, but I am also Native American. I have seen the way animals taken for food are respected, and smoke is offered for their sacrifice to feed man. This atrocity of murder is everywhere. Here in the USA there is a movie called “Fast Food Nation”, which shows how cows are slaughtered here in this country. I couldn’t even watch in fast forward. Weeks ago I watch whales being slaughtered on Whale Wars, and I still can’t get the images out of my mind, and am still crying. We may not be able to watch, but we can still be a voice, still make a difference. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I watched this video to the end and it made me sick to the stomach....These rotten bastards seem to enjoy their work...how sad...They don't seem to have the intelligence to get a real job...instead they get total pleasure out of taking a calf from it's mother and killing it and laughing...this is video in the most disgusting...these bastards should be hung up by their feet and disembowled like this poor mother cow...that is my wish...Karma will get them...I would love to watch that video...Justice for the animals

Mailey, if you have just signed up to this site today you can be excused for thinking all of us demons from hell. Rest assured - we are not.

What you obviously don't know, and can be excused for not knowing is that European countries like Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Greece are alll LEADING the race on horrific animal abuse. This is not the first time for Turkey and it won't be the last.

What is blatantly obvious (after doing tons of research on these countries) is that the MAJORITY of the populations there do not give a continental DAMN about animals. And that includes every hick SOD of a mayor in their municipalities.

A very small band of animal rights actiivsts work in each country - they are fighting with everything they've got, and many times their lives are in danger.

Being an animal rights activist means one thing only: TO ACT AND TO ACT NOW - no matter what it takes.

Yes, prayer is very, very important. But there is an old adage: 'God helps those who help themselves'. And since the animals cannot help themselves WE WILL ACT FOR THEM - in any means we see fit.

Do you recall the biblical story of Soddom and Gemorrah (excuse the spelling). Well, in my opinion these countries fall into the same category. My heart goes out to the animal rights activists there - may God give you the courage to continue your work. When we damn your countries and its peoples, you are not included in this damnation.

Now if I was a witch and practised witchcraft (which I'm not) I would put a curse of damnation on anyone wo harms an animal.

In the final analysis the only solution to the slaughter is to put your money where your mouth is:

GO VEGAN

And agitate and educate the rest of the world, including members of Care2 about the horrific abuse for the sake of human blood lust.

No Maisley, we don't pull any punches here at Care2 - this is an activist site - first and foremost. We have achieved a tremendous amount through going out with our guns blazing. High and mightly and holy condemnation and threats about care2's 'policy' is quite funny - considering what we are faced with each day, and what we are required to do each day.

Moral of the story: Don't attack us - you don't know us, and don't join an activist site and then propose to threaten members here who have worked their tails off on behalf of animals. Personally I don't pray for the salvation of the bastards in this video - if I had to 'pray' for them it would be with a wish for their speedy descent into a hell - where they will be disemboweled repeatedly - for eternity.

EEEEEEESSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With utmost respect to all the outraged, caring commenters here, this depiction of cruelty upon a "Mother and Child" is not exceptional. IT IS THE NORM! This "Mother" was one of BILLIONS of animals the world over who are FORCIBLY impregnated REPEATEDLY over the course of their sad relatively short lives, babies constantly stolen at birth... Sons slaughtered at 2 y.o.... Daughters FORCED into the same misery as Mothers.

ALL no less cruel and outrageous than this!

I havee no time to read all your comments but I agree with Echo ELES - we know only those causes which have been recorded, investigated etc. it doesn't mean it happens only in China or Turkey it happens in every slaughterhouse in the World!!!!!
Why killing in American or European slaughterhouses is recognised as something better??? because we have some so call welfare regulations - b.... and we think we are OK - what a hypocrisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if there is anybody who still believe in so call HUMANE/ETHICAL killing - think once again

Just sickening. Of course I wrote e-mails but I couldn,t stay polite. They should know what we think of them. Here,s my E-mail :

What the fuck do those barbarian murders and animal abusers think they,re doing? No wonder we don,t wanna have Turkey to join the EU. Such a barbarian brainless and uncivilized country. Shame on you. Alot of people don,t even want to visit Turkey no more. We just cannot and won,t tolerate such extremenous animal abuse ANY LONGER. Just imagine someone would do this to your wife and pull her unborn baby out of her womb. How SICK and INSANE do your people have to be to do such a cruel act to this cow and her calb. Not only in this case but as well the way cats and dogs get treated in your poor country. Shame on Turkey. Better your folks change their behavior as fast as possible as the whole world are watching your step. And don,t try to deny in telling the world:,No such things happen in your country. BULLSHIT!!!! WE,VE SEEN ENOUGH VIDEOS,PICTURES AND THE MEDIA WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON THERE. STOP THOSE KILLINGS IMMEDIATELY AND START TO BEHAVE AS A HUMAN BEING. We are living in the 21 century and not in the middle ages. I hope I was clear enough.

I even didn,t sign my e-mail as I was too furiuos. Didn,t watch the video neither as I could imagine what was coming up. Can,t stand such views no more. Might start becoming hatred feelings toward people.

On the contrary Sir Walk,

it is "Animal Husbandry", in and of itself, that is not a "necessary" step in survival.

We are raised in ignorance of animals' entitlement to freedom from USE. NO animal deserves a life of captivity. NO animal wants to die. NO animal deserves to die at our hands.

It is the domination of one sentient life form by another that is not "necessary".

ABOLITION of ALL animal exploitation is what IS necessary.

As a former animal flesh-eater turned vegetarian and then vegan, I could never convince my father to stop eating meat until the day he got caught in traffic behind a truck full of pink pigs on the way to slaughter. In those moments he looked into the eyes of terrified, doomed, intelligent creatures. The suffering was undeniable. At last he could connect to and break free of his addiction to all meat because he witnessed what happens on the way to slaughter.

I support anyone who wishes to be vegan... but being a VEGAN is NOT the root of this problem. This is beyond a matter of food. All the world becomes vegan, and THEN what?

How to you explain the people that drop a cat in boiling water for kicks? Nothing to do with food, or even fur as clothes.

The elephant murdered and the tusks taken right out of there head??? Its NOT a food issue, but, whoever thinks being a vegan will make animal abuse dissapear...will be sorely disappointed when we are all vegan and reading the newspaper over a dairy free cup of coffee that animal abuse STILL will occur...

Love of Iesus for All Creatures.

9. And some of the people said, This man careth for all creatures, are they his brothers and sisters that he should love them ? And he said unto them, Verily these are your fellow creatures of the great Household of God, yea, they are your brethren and sisters, having the same breath of life in the Eternal.
10. And whosoever careth for one of the least of these, and giveth it to eat and drink in its need, the same doeth it unto me, and whoso willingly suffereth one of these to be in want, and defendeth it not when evilly entreated, suffereth the evil as done unto me; for as ye have done in this life, so shall it be done unto you in the life to come.

Nyack, I feel you've missed the point (of my comments at least) if you perceive Veganism to be a "food issue".

Veganism IS at the root of the solution to this "problem" because Veganism in practice IS Abolition in action. Abolition of ALL animal exploitation no matter what the use... or abuse.

I COULD NOT WATCH THE VIDEO, AND THAT IS NOT BECAUSE I AM NAIVE AND WANT TO TURN A BLIND EYE. I DO NOT NEED TO SEE THE HORRIFIC VIOLENCE THAT WAS ABOUT TO OCCUR TO MOTHER AND BABY, BELIEVE ME I AM RE-LIVING IT JUST BY SEEING THE PICTURE OF THAT POOR PITIFUL COW, HER HEAD TWISTED DOWN ON THE FLOOR, JUST BEFORE SHE IS BRUTALLY SLAUGHTERED. WATCHING ANY FURTHER, WOULD NOT ALTER IN ANYWAY WHAT I WILL WRITE IN MY EMAILS. I KNOW THIS HAPPENS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND NOT JUST IN TURKEY, BUT THIS IS JUST INCOMPREHENSIBLY BARBARIC AND HEARTBREAKING. IT HAS TAKEN ME THREE HOURS TO PLUCK UP THE COURAGE TO CLICK ON THE 'LINK', AS I KNEW IF I WITNESSED ANY OF THE VIDEO, IT WOULD HAUNT ME FOREVER. I AM CRYING AND SCREAMING INSIDE AND WORDS ALONE CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW UTTERLY DEVASTATED, HEART BROKEN AND TORTURED I FEEL THINKING ABOUT WHAT THESE TWO BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS ENDURED. I WILL SEND ALL EMAILS. WHEN WILL IT ALL END? I PRAY EVERYDAY FOR THE BEAUTIFUL SENTIENT ANIMALS OF OUR WORLD. I SUPPORT SO MANY CAUSES ON SO MANY SITES, BUT I FEEL SO FRUSTRATED, AS I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO END ALL SLAUGHTER OF ANIMALS WORLDWIDE, BUT MANY PEOPLE THINK THIS IS AN IDEALISTIC APPROACH AND WILL NEVER HAPPEN. I FEEL SUCH A DEEP LOVE FOR ANIMALS, PERHAPS BECAUSE THEY ARE VOICELESS AND DEFENCELESS. IT IS HUMANS (NOT ALL) THAT ARE CRUEL, GREEDY, HATEFUL, JEALOUS, SELFISH AND ARROGANT. ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE THESE NEGATIVE TRAITS, AND TO BE HONEST, I QUITE OFTEN PREFER ANIMALS TO HUMANS.

Nyack, certain food is a big part of Veganism and one most recognized by the population at larger, hence your original observation. In practicing a cruelty free lifestyle you encompass all facets of exploitation but more importantly the education that should be incorporated into a Vegan society would teach / instill compassion in our offspring.

As long as people are prepared to eat another sentient being - there can be no respect for life. Many vegans do it purely for the 'health' reasons. This is not enough to change the tide of animal abuse. The true abolitionists are vegan because of their respect for all sentient life.

The abuse of animals around the world will not stop just because we are all vegans - but it certainly is a start. We live and lead by example. We work hard at educating the public about respect for sentient life. The health benefits of being a vegan are a bonus - it is not the main issue. Without a clear understanding of the difference here it would be easy to label the abuse of this cow and calf as a 'food' issue only.

There will always be people completely out of whack with Spirit, who will abuse other sentient life, whether it is human or non-human. This derives from a disconnection to Source - some can be helped with treatment, some cannot be helped.

Semantics cannot obscure that respect for life means all sentient life. Diddling around the issue of veganism health obscures the real and moral reason why one should be a vegan.

The medical profession code of: 'First do no harm 'comes to mind here.

With every bite of food we take the above dictum is an imperative!
With every action in life we take the above dictum is an imperative!
With every thought we think the above dictum is an imperative!

We should strive for a simple ethical way of life: - where our souls shine with love, clarity of purpose and compassion.

The oil barons and timber industry have largely destroyed the natural habitat of our planet

The cattle farmers have destroyed the eco systems, and in gobbling up large pieces of once pristine wilderness have endangered wild life, wild horses etc.

The intensive animal factory farms have dehumanised us as human beings - the horrific practises (of which this video is just an example) become part of our daily existence - resulting in a deadening of spirit. The bulk of the human race have no curiosity has to the production methodology of the meat/fish/eggs for sale in their shopping markets.

Even the non-intensive animal husbandry with devious spin of 'natural' products is dehumanising. Is there any way they can get their flesh products to market without slaughter? Obviously not.

So at the end of the day the one and only question we must ask ourselves is this:

Is slaughtering for taste buds morally and spiritually justified?

And something to think about: If an alien race saw the human race as inferior (for whatever reasons, one being that we don't communicate in a language they can understand) - would they be justified to slaughter us for their dinner tables? If your answer is no, but you still insist that animals are ours for slaughter.... THEN ....

I would ask you to check your premises - for this is a clear confusion of logic.

Some people simply state: 'I love the taste of meat/fish' and don't give a damn. At least this is honest - stating clearly they are addicted to the taste of dead flesh. An addiction can be cured.

Those who play with semantics are the dangerous ones - because they perceive the moral indignities of it all - but using a flawed logic would encourage the addiction keeping a vigilant eye on the profit margins: - Some examples are:

Cigarette manufacturers, 'natural' husbandry of animals for our tables, vivisectionists’ lies about justifying the horror = it is okay to do this to animals because they are not like us, but then when asked why testing on animals who are not like us will benefit mankind the answer comes back, ‘oh because they are like us!’ and last but not least, the medical profession’s deliberate action to degenerate the alternative healing modalities, their over medication and unnecessary surgeries.

Thank you to all who care enough - and have the clear spiritual perception to not buy into this flawed logic.

Eureka - excellent post.

Everything you said is spot on, and I do also wish more people refrained from consuming other "animals" for moral and ethical reasons, and not just "for health reasons." That will not get us far because those people usually turn simply to eating smaller creatures and the tide of despair continues unabaited.

When I state that I am a vegetarian, I make it very clear that I am an ethical vegetarian of 21 years because this usually prompts people to ask what that means. It might end up being a good teaching opportunity resulting in someone changing their ways.

As I've said on many threads related to non-human creatures, there will NO justice and NO relief from abuse until all humans unanimously condemn and reject soundly all forms of slavery, where ever and however it may occur, and all humans are vegans. I truly believe that only THEN will we as a species psychologically evolve (we're rather stunted at the moment).

When will people realize that MEAT IS MURDER? IF YOU STOP EATING MEAT THE DEMAND WILL NOT BE THERE AND THESE POOR ANIMALS WILL NOT SUFFER.
anyone who still eats meat is contributing to the suffering of an animal. There is no excuse not to go vegan NONE.

Humans today are barbaric beings and until everyone sees the light and stops eating meat, wearing leather, fur etc Animals will still be tortured this way. It happens everywhere everyday. Over 50 billion animals are brutally murdered every year for food! Think about all all those animals in a huge pile. It is so sad. Why cannot people see that? WHY?

Thankyou to everyone who has taken the time to send the emails to Turkey. Wether or not they will have any effect remains to be seen, at least they are now aware of our views...

Of course, I am fully aware that this horrific slaughter goes on everywhere, as I said at the start of this thread, this is by no means an isolated incident.

A friend and nonvegetarian st the time, told me years ago that he had the unfortunate task of briefly visiting the outside of a slaughter house. He witnessed unimaginable horror and cruelty, he wouldn't speak of what he had seen, he was to traumatised, but because of it he never ate meat again...

This slaughter house was in ENGLAND.!!

If nothing else, I hope this will have made us all think about what we eat.

All who are Vegan, I admire you greatly.

To the meat eaters, I hope that you will consider taking the first steps and become vegatarian.

To the vegatarians, including myself. We need to take a long hard look at what we eat. We are still consuming dairy derived ingredients. These tiny calfs are the by products of the dairy industry, their mothers, used, abused and so cruely discarded and killed when they are of no further use.

We must not forget this mother and her young, nor, all the billions they represent.

Wonderful comments Eureka, Rooibos, Anne, and others. I just want to respond to Anne's comment, hoping meat eaters will "consider taking the first steps and become Vegetarian".

There is tremendous debate with the Animal Rights activist community about whether we should promote Vegetarianism as a "step" to Veganism or even an acceptable moral behaviour at all bearing in mind, as you say, the suffering still associated with dairy and eggs. And that suffering goes on even LONGER for dairy cows and goats and laying chickens than those animals used for meat due to the simple fact they are used like production machines until their worn out bodies literally break down and stop producing! And THEN they get cruelly transported and slaughtered like the rest.

I subscribe to the notion that Vegan education should encourage trying to go Vegan in "stages" if one is unsure about changing all at once. -- Try Vegan for breakfast for a few weeks to see how much healthy and tasty variety is possible. Then add Vegan lunches for a few weeks to get more of a feel for these meals. And so on with dinners. That way people would get a gradual taste for how easy and varied and nutritious and satisfying completely compassionate Vegan eating can be.

THEN, one can start examining their household and personal products and wardrobes to find all the other products of cruelty and exploitation they could easily replace.

To me in this way, people would be less likely to fall into the Vegetarian "rut" that contributes to so much additional and continual cruelty.

I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone here. I mean all this with utmost respect... to all life.

Going vegan was very easy for me, despite the fact that I live in a rural area far from a major city. However, I agree with Jeffrey that you're better off going vegan by meals as a transition rather than going lacto-ovo vegetarian. Eggs and dairy, regardless of the label (cage-free, free-range, etc) contribute just as much or more to exploitation and intentional killing as flesh does.

Anne T. (287)

Excellent points Jeffrey, and so, so right! Particularly about the longer suffering of dairy animals. I guess I thought that asking people to suddenly go Vegan seemed a little drastic, but you have put the point across so very well.

I personaly am going to take your points on board and try!!

But, we have to send these emails anyway because we need to plant seeds and this is our way of standing up for the animals.

Just read the post from Neesan and the update. There you go at least something has been done, not enough ofcourse but a step in the right direction.

Elizabeth Collins (6)
Tuesday August 25, 2009, 9:55 pm
Take this video and multiply it by 56 billion a year. This is just another slaughter of another animal, and is happening right now this second, to many many animals, right now this moment, again and again and again. There may be variations to the horrific suffering of each individual such as in this particular example with the heavily pregnant state of the victim, but be very clear it is ALL horrific, every single slaughter, every single time. It happens to 56 billion animals, equally horrifically, every year. That is 179 animals per second. As I write this thousands of animals are going through variations of what this cow and her calf went through. If you find this video disturbing please realise you can choose, we can all choose to end this, if we so wished it. I wish it, but I need your help! If we stop demanding the products then the commodification of sentient beings would end and the producers would have no choice but to switch to vegan products. Please go vegan and help us abolish the exploitation of sentient beings and prevent 179 non-human animals per second from going through what this cow and her calf went through, simply to fill OUR demand for their products in the marketplace. Go vegan.

I made myself watch this video, while sobbing. How can people be so heartless and cruel and even laughing while slaughtering. So help me God, I will become a vegetarian. I'll never be able to comprehend such savage, barbaric, cruelty. I don't understand how another human can be so callous and evil. All life is sacred to me and I can't adust to otherwise. ty for the update, Neesan, the fine is b.s. and they know it, much like what they do here in the U.S., this shit happens every day and all day, when you eat animal flesh you do support this slaughter and abuse, eating the flesh is no different from killing that animal, sleep on it, if you can, I couldn't, that made veganism quite easy to adopt, you don't want to be part of the slaugher of animals for food, stop eating them.

I did not watch this particular video because I have seen so many of the like already. We don't need to go to the other side of the planet to see this barbaric cruelty. We have it right here in the USA. It just doesn't scream and bleed before everyone because it's all packaged up so neatly in styrophome trays and covered with plastic shrinkwrap, displayed in attractive supermarkets on their counters. And when people pick that package up and place it in their shopping carts they are spared all the gore and suffering because someone did it for them oftentimes not that far away from where they live. I took my first trip to a slaughterhouse downstate here in Illinois (US)in the early 1970's. I believe that I described it all in another post on factory farming so I won't repeat the horror. Need I say that I am a vegan? P.S.I've seen some new TV commercials about the 'happy' California cows and how their loving contented care helps them to produce such wonderful dairy products. I suggest that those interested check it out. No need to go to Turkey! We've got downers and the whole nine yards right here at home.

This kind of brutality to sentient beings who have been rendered helpless by man is poisoning the soul of humankind. As long as we can brutalize any of God's creatures, we will be brutalizing ourselves.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Anne. Emails sent to all. Animal cruelty is alive and well everywhere, isn't it?

Humankind does not accept their "animal" status.....We think we are all powerful, all knowing and all mighty.......We will all sing another tune when that little tiny germ mutates into something that KILLS US ALL OFF......

I'm hoping that everyone who sees this video understands that this happens every day, every hour, every minute throughout the world. This is the inevitable result of dairy. If one eats cheese, cream, milk or any dairy product this is what your money buys. Going Vegan is the only solution to such attrocities. It's easy, healthy and compassionate! www.humanemyth.org

Whether or not some of us are meat eaters does not mean any of us condone cruelty to animals in any way. Let us put the blame where blame belongs, on the idiots that are hired to do these grotesque jobs, yes, they enjoy it, they are the lowest of the low and Karma will bring them back to learn their lesson, again and again until the idiots learn it...perhaps they will come back as a pregnant cow and die slowly and cruely at the hands of their friends! I too, would like to do violence and bodily harm to these idiots (you will notice the repeated word "idots", it is not only their IQ but keeps me from saying anything that will get my comment kicked off!), but it is not my place, it is in the hands of the Universe, and they WILL pay seven-fold!

This is horrible! I would love to think that there will be a day real soon to make people realize animals feel too. Thier painful cries are universal but we do it to people and it's a sin.

Where are we heading, folks? Seems like everything we were taught as kids has gone for naught. Nothing is sacred any more. Such an awful shame so hear stories like this.

I noted this article as soon as it was brought to my attention.....& as always I was APPALLED by it in EVERY respect......sadly @ the same time as a new member had joined (it must have been the 1st article they had read)...& they truly must have felt they'd joined an extremist group that was bordering on terrorism.....& promptly "UNJOINED"....which was in itself I felt very sad indeed......as the comments were swinging from one extreme to the other @ that time.....some rather apathetic in feeling that no good would come from their efforts.......whilst others were (in my oppinion) no better than the perpatrators of this evil & obscene crime....in feeling that it would be approprate for the whole country to be wiped out.....no doubt when the shock they were in @ the time of writing wore off.... they would hopefully realise that in that country there are also innocent helpless creatures of all species being condemned to the same fate!
without a doubt "CREATURES" such as those in the video.....should be BANNED from being anywhere near an animal @ ALL...slaughterhouses or anywhere else!
IF ONLY Those who choose to eat meat (& I'm an advocate in freedom of choice) can be ENCOURAGED to ENSURE that the animal on their plate had lived as comfortable & happy a life.....& its death was as quick & painless as possible......these OBSCENITIES could to a large extent be avoided......& would do far more in the end to promote vegetarian & vegan causes than any violent oubursts of hatred could ever do!

Thanks JEFFREY for putting the facts SO plainly & clearly that no-one in their right mind could possibly take offence to!!....to NEESON for the update......& to all those who've noted this article......ensuring that this type of barbarism gets the attention that is truly needed to stamp it out!!

Thanks Claudia for telling us what happened in the video, because I can't watch such videos any more.
Will send e-mails too.

Here is a petition:

Horrific crime in a slaughterhouse in Bursa (Turkey): ask the Mayor to take action
Target: The Mayor of Bursa: recep.altepe@bursa.bel.tr

I posted this news on facebook too.

I am convinced that this kind of cruelty is happening in every slaughterhouse, because when you get used to kill animals, your compassion will be gone....you don't see their fear...you don't hear their cries...you don't feel their pain...any more longer.

Noted with sadness.

this vid is still making rounds in myspace, wake up to the horror friends. but Susan, the governments don't seem to care about the people, so I can't see them ever caring about the animals we love.
:( they are more concerned with how well done their bloody steak will be than the horror behind it.
