According to TVNewser, Beck advertisers Proctor and Gamble, Lawyers.com and Progressive Insurance have all pulled their ads from Beck's 5PM ET show. This comes in the wake of groups like ColorOfChange.org's efforts to get companies to distance themselves from Beck.

Tampa Town Hall On Health Care Reform Disrupted By Violence
(VIDEO)

Police officers were called to calm down an unruly crowd outside a health care reform town hall meeting in downtown Tampa, Florida on Thursday evening, according to local news reports.

Angry protesters screamed, yelled and banged on windows as officers hurried to guard the entrances to the facility, where U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor was trying to discuss the various health care reform proposals being debated in Congress. One photojournalist said that a fistfight broke out inside the building, reports WTSP.

Many of the hundreds of protesters said that they had been inspired by a conservative activist group promoted by Fox News host Glenn Beck and some received emails from the county Republican party, according to the St. Petersburg Times.....

The Tampa Tribune reports that some protesters carried racist caricatures of President Obama and added details of more fights and scuffles.....

Anti-Reform Group Takes Credit For Helping Gin Up Town Hall Rallies

Conservatives for Patients’ Rights, the operation that’s running a national campaign against a public health care option, is now publicly taking credit for helping gin up the sometimes-rowdy outbursts targeting House Dems at town hall meetings around the country, raising questions about their
spontaneity.

CPR is the group headed by controversial former hospitals exec Rick Scott that’s spending millions on ads attacking reform in all sorts of lurid ways, a campaign that’s being handled by the same P.R. mavens behind the Swift Boat Vets.

In response to my questions, a spokesman for the group confirmed that it has undertaken a concerted effort to get people out to the town hall meetings to protest reform. The spokesperson, Brian Burgess,
confirmed that CPR is emailing out “town hall alert” flyers, and schedules of town hall meetings, to its mailing list.

These efforts — combined with CPR’s effort to enlist Tea Party-ers, as reported yesterday by TPM — provide a glimpse into the ways anti-reform groups are trying to create a sense of public momentum in their favor.

CPR spokesman Burgess confirmed that the group had set up a list serv designed to reach out to “third party groups” involved in the health care fight, including the Tea Party activists. And in a statement emailed to me, Scott, who was ousted as a health-care exec amid a 1990s fraud probe, took credit for the town hall showings.

“We have invested a lot of time, energy and resources into educating Americans over the past several months about the dangers of government-run health care and I think we’re seeing some of the fruits of that campaign,” Scott said, though he claimed outrage was spontaneous.

Similarly, America’s Health Insurance Plans, or AHIP, the insurance industry group, has stationed employees in 30 states to track local town hall events.

The question is whether these uprisings are actually helpful to the anti-reform cause, or whether their raucus agitprop will work againt them. Dems have blasted out to reporters examples of protestors harrassing House Dems.

“The more you dig the more you learn that this is a carefully orchestrated effort by special interest lobbyists and the Republican Party, who are using fringe elements on the right to protect insurance company profits and defeat health care reform,” said House Dem leadership aide Doug Thornell. “The anger at these events looks very similar to what we saw at McCain/Palin rallies in the fall.”

****************************************

Update: The White House attacks CPR for manufacturing anger.

James Kwak | You Do Not Have Health Insurance
http://www.truthout.org/080709A?n James Kwak, The Baseline Scenario: "Right now, it appears that the biggest barrier to health care reform is people who think that it will hurt them. According to a New York Times poll, '69 percent of respondents in the poll said they were concerned that the quality of their own care would decline if the government created a program that covers everyone.' Since most Americans currently have health insurance, they see reform as a poverty program - something that helps poor people and hurts them. If that's what you think, then this post is for you. You do not have health insurance. Let me repeat that. You do not have health insurance. (Unless you are over 65, in which case you do have health insurance. I'll come back to that later.)"

You guys must be in some dream world or totally without news info.
Latest ratings report for August 6: Fox News in prime time had more viewers than ALL the other cable news networks added together combined. They had over 3 times more viewers than #2 CNN.
Glenn Beck had 40% more than ALL others added together and COMBINED in his time slot and had over 4 times more viewers than the #2 show. He was 3rd overall for the whole prime time period behind O'Reilly and Hannity. No other network had anybody even in the same league.
Fox reported higher profits too.

Actually Blue as a businessman I am aware of News Corps losses. They were non-cash loses of course due to asset write downs - especially My Space. Their operating profit was $1.7 billion I believe I read. In fact their cash position is so strong analysts are expecting another major purchase to be made. Some have rumored they may buy the NY Times which Murdock has vehemently denied.
However the Fox News division is doing extremely well. The cable networks owned by News Corp had a 39% increase in operating profit led by Fox News.
The cable ratings are done by several rating services not owned by Murdock.

Ask Republicans This

Right now, it's extremely obvious the insurance industry is driving the GOP attempt to kill health care reform - overtly to protect their wallets, and covertly to make Obama look foolish because he won an election they wanted to win.

"They'll kill your grandma. They'll keep you waiting 3 years for a kidney. They'll kidnap your doctor and move him out of the country."

They're trying everything - just to rake in millions to deny insuring those who really need it and for their GOP pals to crush one of Obama's pet projects: Letting Americans afford medical treatment. Gee, what a %#&!*% notion that is.

Knowing all this, ask this of your Republican friends:

If you're so dead set against the government running your health plan (while it runs the gold standard of health care for Veterans and GOP House members), why are you so willing to let the insurance companies run it for you?

Bask in the silence.

Do we act according to our principles...or partisanship?

"The Clouded Lens of Partisanship

If a person asserted a Constitutional right to prevent the government from doing something the President or Congress wanted to do, would you call him or her a conservative or a liberal? Would you support or oppose the position?

In today’s blindly partisan world, the answer would seem to depend on what right the person was asserting and whether you sympathize with the claim.

Thus, if someone opposes laws allowing gay marriages or abortions or restricting gun ownership, you’re likely to label her a conservative. If you have conservative leanings, you’d probably support her.

On the other hand, if someone opposes attempts to limit free speech, supports laws providing free medical care, or prohibits torture, the person would likely be called a liberal. If you agree with him, you’d likely to approve his use of the Constitution.

My point is, many people only see the world through the clouded lenses of their political and social ideologies. They subordinate principles to partisanship and create a world where those who agree with them are inherently smart and good and those who don’t are stupid and evil.

Partisanship often leads to prejudice, precluding the fair evaluation of new facts. It also leads to self-righteousness and intolerance. The problem isn’t with deeply held convictions, it’s that too many people think that the more intensely they believe something, the more likely it is that they’re right.

Ranting and name-calling by both the left and right do a disservice to our country. They promote picking sides rather than analyzing issues.

The social positions of people of character are governed by reflective reasoning, not reflexive responses; by logic, not loyalty; and by consistency with enduring principles, not political parties.

This is Michael Josephson reminding you that character counts."

Character Counts

The dumb thing about this post is that I used to watch Beck when he was on CNN and he went after Bush all the time! He has a great understanding of your American constitution - you probably will not care about this but his book 'Common Sense' has been a huge best seller and is almost impossible to get here in Canada because it leaves the shelves as soon as it comes in. The interest in American politics grew when you elected such an inexperienced individual as head of the most powerful country on earth. Not for much longer however if Obama gets his way. The only thing you will have as a country is the biggest debt in the world and if that happens you might as well learn Chinese .....
I live in a country with all the social programs you are being offered and I keep telling you that any loss of personal freedoms is not worth it. I hear all the time you have socialized programs in America right now and wonder how you cannot see that THEY DO NOT WORK ....

Mark G. The only reason Glen Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity's ratings are up is because of the stupid outlandish crap they say, not because of any truth or news they report. People watch them to see and here what the clowns are going to do and say next not because they believe anything they say. Its the lame brains that watch them and believe what they say thats the problem. Sane intelligent people get their news else where.

Socialist = you mean like the government owned car manufactuers you now have? Or the all for one one for all and only for the healthy health care bill Obama is trying to push? He would be a member of the New Democratic Party here in Canada .... Because you are a two party system in America there is no discription other than the 'far left (which he is) and the far right (Repubs) .... OBAMA is a socialist and those are exactly the programs he is trying to set up in America. A collective - all for one and one for all - think the same, be the same, speak the same - etc.... Why do you think the unions are coming out in support of him? By the way, did you know Unions were first started in Russia? Again all for the collective - Cynthia, Obama is a socialist - it was his earliest teachings and I am afraid you need to do some serious research into his background.

Marion Y. (322)
Sunday August 9, 2009, 5:22 pm
Actually, I enjoy hearing the right call Obama a socialist and voice opposition to anything that will help the masses, including themselves. The more they show their ignorance, the faster we can run the republicans out of town.

Socialized care = Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, politicians benefits, social security, disability, on and on.

"recently a member of the house of representatives had a town hall meeting.he asked the people (mainly senior citizens) if they were opposed to socialized medicine. they all raised their hands. then he asked if anyone was on medicaid or medicare. and they all raised their hands...(to be clear, medicaid and medicare are 'socialized medicine'...).

see, the big insurance companies and health care companies are spending millions and millions of dollars to slander obama and his health care plan, and to make sure that americans are woefully ill-informed. and the big insurance companies are giving millions and millions to republicans, getting the republicans to go out and do the insurance companies dirty work.

if anyone you know says, 'obama wants socialized health care' maybe ask them: a-what 'socialized health care' actually means? and b-if they've read the proposed legislation?

it amazes me how quickly people will just parrot back republican/insurance company talking points if fox news and republicans just repeat themselves enough. repeat 'socialized medicine' enough and people will start saying 'socialized medicine' even though they don't know what they're actually talking about.

what a shame, as obama and the dems are genuinely trying to help people through health care reform. our health care system sucks. it just sucks. and, not surprisingly, the insurance companies are fighting back at this perceived threat to their hegemony. just be aware that when you hear a republican say 'socialized medicine' it's code word for 'i'm getting an awful lot of money from insurance companies'.

we need health care reform. we cannot be one of the most prosperous nations on the planet and have millions and millions of people walking around without some sort of coverage. it's beneath us. and we cannot be one of the most prosperous nations on the planet and deny coverage to people who've actually paid for it. again, it's beneath us. we should not resemble dickensian england, where the wealthiest have access to health care and the poorest die in the streets ('please hmo, can i have some more?').

sorry to rant, but health care reform is both necessary and moral, and the republicans are trying to block it solely at the bequest of the insurance companies. i really hope that the dems will be able to pass substantial health care reform in spite of the tens of millions of dollars being spent by the insurance companies to maintain the status quo. the status quo that leaves roughly 20% of americans with little or no health care, and which routinely denies treatment to people who've regularly made their insurance payments."

======================================

The Republicans Can't Afford for America to Succeed: That's Why They Oppose the Government Option...this healthcare reform issue is about the elites, healthcare industry and republicans trying to stay in control of power and money and continue to rape and rip Americans off blind. The only way they can continue to do this is to play on the racist fears of white Republicans...who sorely need this health care reform. The old, white voters can't stand seeing a black man as president, even if he is the smartest, most competent president we've had in years.

So let's keep this in perspective and understand what is really going on here.

The Last Gasp of the Angry White Man

What we're seeing in these angry town halls
these days is the last gasp of the angry white man. He's not quite sure what he's angry about, but he knows he's angry. It's not the world he used to know. He gets the disquieting feeling that he doesn't rule the roost anymore. And it's driving him crazy.

One of the chants at the town hall events
was, "No national healthcare!" Okay, mission accomplished. No one has proposed such a thing. So, I guess they can go home now befuddled at what they were yelling about.

The reality is that what they have been manipulated into arguing against is a public option that would give them more choices, not less in health insurance. It wouldn't nationalize health insurance at all, let alone any part of the rest of the healthcare industry.

It was probably due to losing Geico advertising, rather than his disabled child. Like Palin, he uses his child for sympathy. He may be close to having one foot out of the door. Being pushed, that is...

Besides, he's not an investigative journalist or news show...he's a shock-jock entertainer who provides disinformation and inflames the ignorant viewers.

You Do Not Have Health Insurance

http://www.truthout.org/080709A?n

The Baseline Scenario: "Right now, it appears that the biggest barrier to health care reform is people who think that it will hurt them. According to a New York Times poll, '69 percent of respondents in the poll said they were concerned that the quality of their own care would decline if the government created a program that covers everyone.'

Since most Americans currently have health insurance, they see reform as a poverty program - something that helps poor people and hurts them.

If that's what you think, then this post is for you. You do not have health insurance.

Let me repeat that. You do not have health insurance. (Unless you are over 65, in which case you do have health insurance. I'll come back to that later.)"

So, thanks to Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), Speaker Pelosi says she will bring a vote to the floor on single-payer after the recess. Are you all ready to make those phone calls and write those letters?

About Beck and the insurers and advertisers bailing on his program: you can't make this stuff up! I'm delighted to see the turn of events and how they are playing out on these racists and traitors to our country.

Oh, did you hear about Bill O? He really stepped in it this time. He ran his mouth about GE supplying terrorists with materials used in bombs. Problem is, it's a lie! GE happens to be the parent company for MSNBC, O'Reilly's competitor at Fox News. Fox is having problems these days and their talking heads keep, well, talking out of their -----.

For some reason, these liars can't stop lying. I don't think they know what the truth is anymore. Good. I hope they lie themselves right out of a job and career in the media.

Frankly, I think some of these polls are slanted, especially those coming from the NYT. Polls and statistics can always be slanted the way you want them to go...certain sampling group, slanted questions...NYT is so far up the butt of big business that I place them in the same category as crooked politicians and lobbyists. Polls are a money, power game used to do what they want.

Excellent article on free speech, Blue!! I posted a comment there saying I think freedom of speech wishing someone dead should have legal ramifications for on air talking heads, not just wishing someone dead AND giving a roadmap to their home.

Wishing someone dead and telling another person is one thing. Wishing someone dead to thousands of listeners is playing russian roulette with the percentage of unbalanced people in society.

We need tighter, more restrictive laws to on-air talking heads.

"Many promoters of health-care reform believe that people have an intrinsic ethical right to health care—to equal access to doctors, medicines and hospitals. While all of us empathize with those who are sick, how can we say that all people have more of an intrinsic right to health care than they have to food or shelter? Health care is a service that we all need, but just like food and shelter it is best provided through voluntary and mutually beneficial market exchanges. A careful reading of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution will not reveal any intrinsic right to health care, food or shelter. That's because there isn't any. This "right" has never existed in America."

Obama's Connections
In late 1988 Obama entered Harvard Law, upon the recommendation of Percy Sutton, a powerful New York politician. Why did Sutton pull strings for Obama? In an interview from "Inside City Hall, (youtube clip Obama and Khalid Mansour) Percy Sutton says he was introduced to Obama by Khalid Al-Mansour of Texas, "principle advisor to one of the world's richest men". Mansour talked to Sutton about Obama and asked Sutton to write a recommendation to Harvard, using Sutton's contacts. Percy Sutton wrote the letter to Harvard calling Obama a "genius".
Now who is this Khalid Al-Mansour, and who is this rich man he represents? Looking further, we have Africa Venture Partners announcement:

AVP WELCOMES DR.KHALID ABDULLAH TARIO AL-MANSOUR TO IT'S BOARD.

Dr. Khalid Abdullah Tario Al-Mansour is an internationally acknowledged advisor to Heads of State and business leaders in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America. He has been actively involved in structuring investments and joint ventures worldwide for over 35 years. Dr. Al-Mansour was also responsible for the Africa investment activities of Kingdom Holdings, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal's investment company. During his distinguished career, Dr. Al-Mansour has been a guest lecturer at Harvard University, Bombay University, Columbia University, UCLA, University of Kenya, London School of Economics and the University of Ghana.
In addition to Africa Venture Partners, Dr. Al-Mansour sits on the Boards of: Saudi African Bank; Kingdom Holdings, Africa; Multimedia Super Corridor (Malaysia); Space Tech Inc.; AmNet Corp. International; New Avenues Fund Ltd; United Bank for Africa; United Networks; and Landmark Entertainment
Dr. Al-Mansour has authored 24 books and is listed in Who's Who in the World; International Who's Who in the Arab World; Two Thousand Men of Achievement; Royal Blue Book of London; World's Who's Who of Intellectuals and American Hall of Fame.

Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University (Phi Beta Kappa) and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of California at Berkeley.

So now it gets interesting. Obama got his push behind the scenes from an advisor to a Saudi Prince. And not just any Saudi Prince. Prince Al-Walid bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has an estimated net worth of US$29.5 billion, is the 19th richest person in the world, and is the second richest man in royalty next to the Sultan of Brunei.
So this Saudi Prince's advisor somehow or other takes an interest in Obama when Obama is an unknown. Why?

More to the point, would Mansour be likely to spend time and effort giving aid to an apostate from Islam?

More good stuff on Khalid al-Mansour at Newsmax: (1) Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age, and Who is Khalid al-Mansour?

One especially interesting tidbit is that Khalid al-Mansour was originally named Donald Warden. As Donald Warden, he mentored Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, founders of the Black Panthers.

In the Congressional Record (page E824, April 23, 2007), Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California intoduced a bill honoring him for his work, and mentioning his prior name and connection to the Panthers:

Ms. LEE. Madam Speaker, I rise today to honor the African American Association. Throughout its extraordinary history, the Association has been known for promoting equality, diversity, social justice, and African American community empowerment. This year the Association celebrates the 45th anniversary of its founding.
The African American Association was first organized in the early 1960s by African American students at the University of California, Berkeley. Among the founding members were community leaders such as Khalid Al-Mansour (known then as Don Warden); future Judges Henry Ramsey and Thelton Henderson; future Congressman and Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums; and future Black Panthers Huey Newton and Bobby Seale.

The Association’s founding occurred in the midst of a turbulent time for African Americans and for our country. Malcolm X was fearlessly expressing his views on race relations. Many African nations were being liberated after years of colonial rule and oppression. The civil rights movement was gaining national momentum, and many young African Americans were feeling a newfound source of pride in their African heritage. A primary impetus for the group’s establishment was an interest in learning the real history of Africa and slavery in the United States. Not having the resources for a mass media campaign, group members took their message to where the people were: they took their message to the streets.

We now have a link (Mansour) between Obama, black radicals, and the Saudi royals

William Ayers and his father Tom Ayers
David Horowitz talked about Bill Ayers’ father getting Barack his job at Sidley/Austin. Also talked about Barack Obama planning his presidential run, at the Ayers/Dorn kitchen table.
Bill Ayers' father was VERY big in Chicago politics. The Ayers and Daleys are very close

We know that Ayers started Obama's political career, and is very influential in Chicago politics. What hasn't been really examined is HOW and WHY he's influential

The HOW and WHY is his dad Thomas G Ayers (1915-2007). Tom Ayers was President of Commonwealth Edison from 1964, and was chairman and CEO from 1973 to 1980. Besides that:

"He had a great social conscience and believed in breaking down the barriers that confronted so many people, particularly minorities and women," said James O'Connor, who succeeded Mr. Ayers as ComEd chairman. "Beyond what he did at Commonwealth Edison, he really set an example for other leaders in the Chicagoland business community to follow."
Mr. Ayers also served on boards of nonprofit initiatives and chaired those of the Chicago Urban League, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Erikson Institute, Bank Street College of Education in New York, Community Renewal Society and the Chicago Community Trust.

While chairing the Northwestern University Board of Trustees, he helped start Chicago United, dedicated to racial minority group access to jobs and education. The project that made him most proud, son John Ayers said, was Dearborn Park, an integrated South Loop housing project, which he conceived and for which he raised funds.

With his sons deep in protest of the Vietnam War (one, Bill Ayers, was a member of the radical Students for a Democratic Society who went underground for about 11 years) the businessman supported his children and their campaign. "Our father always stood by us," John Ayers said. "He was an establishment guy, but he believed in us. He believed in change."

After the Board of Education's financial collapse of 1979, Mayor Jane M. Byrne named Mr. Ayers as her choice for president of the new board.

Bill Ayers' dad was a primary mover and shaker in Chicago politics, with strong ties to the Daley machine. Besides all the above:
He was the Chicago establishment, serving on the boards of Sears, G.D. Searle, Chicago Pacific Corp., Zenith Corp., Northwest Industries, General Dynamics Corp. of St. Louis, First National Bank of Chicago, the Chicago Cubs and the Tribune Co.
Mr. Ayers also was an agent for change, negotiating between Mayor Richard J. Daley's administration and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s open housing campaign in the mid-1960s, and developing the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities to fight racial discrimination in housing.

And how exactly was Obama connected up the the Ayers in Chicago? I'm suspecting that his long association with Frank Marshall Davis in Hawaii had a lot to do with his decision to settle in Chicago. Per Davis's wiki entry:
In 1927, Davis moved to Chicago, where he worked variously for the Chicago Evening Bulletin, the Chicago Whip and the Gary American, all African-American newspapers.[5][6] He also wrote free-lance articles and short stories for African-American magazines. It was also during this time that Davis began a serious effort to write poetry, including his first long poem, entitled Chicago’s Congo, Sonata for an Orchestra.
[...]

In 1935, Davis moved back to Chicago to take the position of managing editor of the Associated Negro Press[9], a news service for black newspapers, which had begun in 1919. Eventually, Davis was named executive editor for the ANP. He held the position until 1947.

During the Depression, Davis participated in the federal Works Progress Administration Writers' Project. In 1937, he received a Julius Rosenwald Fellowship.[10]

While in Chicago, Davis also started a photography club, worked for numerous political parties, and participated in the League of American Writers. With the encouragement of authors such as Richard Wright and Margaret Walker, Davis published in 1948 his most ambitious collection of poems, entitled 47th Street: Poems, which chronicles the varied life on Chicago's South Side.

Sometime during the period 1943-1945, Davis joined the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA), although he never publicly admitted his party membership. Davis published pieces in CPUSA-supported publications.[citation needed]

Davis used his newspaper platform to call for integration of the sports world, and he began to engage himself with community organizing efforts, starting a Chicago labor newspaper, The Star, toward the end of World War II. In 1945, he taught one of the first jazz history courses in the United States, at the Abraham Lincoln School[11] in Chicago.

I think Obama chose to move to Chicago to take advantage of the network of connections that Davis still had with the Chicago Left.
Does anybody here doubt that there would be a connection between Davis and Ayers, given the connections between the Communist Party and the Weather Underground, particularly between black radicals like Davis and the Weather Underground coming from the Chicago Eight trial?

Ten more companies say 'no' to Glenn Beck

"Today we're announcing that ten more companies have made sure their ads won't run on Glenn Beck's program:

Adding to an increasing list of companies distancing themselves from Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck, ten new companies whose ads were recently seen during Beck's program--Applebee's, Bank of America, Bell & Howell, DirecTv, General Mills, Kraft, Regions Financial Corporation, SAM (Store and Move), Travelers Insurance and Vonage--have pledged to take steps to ensure that their ads don't run on Beck's show. Forty-six companies have now committed not to support Beck's show since ColorOfChange.org launched its campaign three weeks ago after the Fox News Channel host called President Obama a "racist" who "has a deep-seated hatred for white people" during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

Three of the latest defections--Travelers Insurance, Bell & Howell and DirecTv--join the list of advertisers who claim to have already placed Glenn Beck's program on a "do not air" list, but whose ads have been seen on Beck's program, apparently against their wishes.

"We could not be happier with the results of our campaign so far," said James Rucker, Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org. "All 46 companies that have distanced themselves from Glenn Beck should be applauded for their stance."

"We are still reaching out to companies whose ads we see during Beck's nightly program," Rucker continued. "Based on the fact that many of the recent ads on Beck's program are for gold coins and News Corp properties, it looks like Fox News Channel is struggling to place advertisements on Beck's show."

Over 170,000 people have now signed our petition to Glenn Beck's advertisers, and it's working.

Here are statements from the new companies distancing themselves from Beck:

"As mentioned before, Applebee's regularly evaluates where our advertising appears," said Miles McMillin, a spokesperson for Applebee's Services, Inc., in an email to ColorOfChange.org. "We strive to reach our diverse group of consumers in many different advertising venues. We do advertise in programming where various opinions are debated as we believe discussion about issues important to our country is very valuable. We expect this discussion to be respectful. As also pointed out earlier, we have not purchased advertising time on the Glenn Beck show specifically. However, at this time, we have asked that our advertising that appears on FOX News not be included on the Glenn Beck program."

In an email conversation with ColorOfChange.org, Joseph L. Goode, Senior Vice-President of Global Media Relations for Bank of America, confirmed that a statement posted on MediaMatters.org [http://mediamatters.org/blog/200908250014] was authentic and that any advertisement placed on the Glenn Beck Program was an error and they would take steps to correct it.

"We don't advertise on Glenn Beck's show anymore," said Charlie Sahner, a spokesperson for Vonage, in an email to ColorOfChange.org.

"I can confirm the authenticity of the statement published on http://jenkinsear.com/2009/08/20/kraft-foods-drops-glenn-beck/", said Valerie Moens, Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs for Kraft Foods Inc., in an email to ColorOfChange.org. "Kraft Foods has made the decision to stop advertising on the more politically extreme programs on all networks. In recent years, there has been a proliferation of shows with extreme content, including on the political front. These shows often are controversial and do not align with our company or brand values. That's why we have made the decision to stop advertising on the more politically extreme programs on all networks."

"We're not an advertiser, that I can tell you," said Tom Forsythe, Vice-President of Corporate Communications for General Mills, in a phone conversation with ColorOfChange.org. "It's not necessarily in response to your campaign. The action has much more to do with the content of the program...Upon hearing your request, I made sure that that was true. But it should have already been true because of the nature of the show."

In an email to ColorOfChange.org, Jon Gieselman, Senior Vice-President of Advertising and Public Relations for DirecTV, Inc., confirmed that their ads should not be running on Glenn Beck's program. "We have actually not purchased national advertising from Fox News during his show since August 3rd, and right now we don't have plans to purchase media in the future," Gieselman said. "We have already clarified our position with Fox News."

"To be clear, the Glenn Beck program has never been part of our advertising effort," said Frank Colangelo, Director of Advertising Research for Travelers Insurance, in an email to ColorOfChange.org. "Any Travelers advertisements that ran during that program in the past were due to commercial placement mistakes by Fox News. In fact we have a standing "no buy" policy with regard to the program and we have confirmed that fact with Fox News."

"We've discontinued our advertising on this program and don't plan to resume," said Scott M. Peters, Chief Marketing Officer for Regions Financial Corporation, in an email to ColorOfChange.org.

"Our company, SAM (Store and Move) has complied with your request and "The Glenn beck" show has been put on the "do not air" list for SAM," said Nicole Henkel, a spokesperson for SAM (Store and Move), in an email to ColorOfChange.org.

"While our distributor controls advertising, we have no plans for ads on this [Glenn Beck's] program," said Hank D'Ambrosio, Vice-President of Administration for Bell & Howell, in an email to ColorOfChange.org. "As I said to you in our conversation and reiterated in my conversation with our distributor, in our 102 year history, Bell and Howell has never been involved in politics or in anything that could be construed as discriminatory in any way and never will."

We're going to continue monitoring ads on Glenn Beck's show, reaching out to his remaining sponsors, and making sure that none of those that dropped Beck resume advertising on his show.

Thanks again for being a part of this campaign -- we couldn't do it without you."

I like what Kraft Foods said:

"Kraft Foods has made the decision to stop advertising on the more politically extreme programs on all networks. In recent years, there has been a proliferation of shows with extreme content, including on the political front. These shows often are controversial and do not align with our company or brand values. That's why we have made the decision to stop advertising on the more politically extreme programs on all networks."

General Mills is totally against the Beck show:

"We're not an advertiser, that I can tell you," said Tom Forsythe, Vice-President of Corporate Communications for General Mills, in a phone conversation with ColorOfChange.org. "It's not necessarily in response to your campaign. The action has much more to do with the content of the program...Upon hearing your request, I made sure that that was true. But it should have already been true because of the nature of the show."

And this from Bell & Howell:

"As I said to you in our conversation and reiterated in my conversation with our distributor, in our 102 year history, Bell and Howell has never been involved in politics or in anything that could be construed as discriminatory in any way and never will."

In accusing Obama of being a racist, it is clear Glenn Beck is the racist...and it may very well put him in the unemployment line real soon.

Glenn "Lonesome Roads" Beck said today...

"They can take my job and they can take my wealth but that's okay. Even if the powers to be, right now, succeed in making me poor, drum me out, and I'm just a worthless loser -- which I'm just about that much above that now -- I will only be stronger for it."

Uh...

Sounds to me like Becky Boy is already writing his own eulogy. That statement tells me Ruppert hasn't called him on the red carpet...yet. But the looks from the staff as he walks in the building are empty stares that tell Becky to keep his jacket on and don't get too comfortable.

Beck on being a clown...

"The media will say 'aw, he's just a clown.' Well you know what, I am a clown. I am a guy who just... I just want to have laughs and fun, I'm a capitalist, I want to make money, all that stuff. I want to live my life with my family. I don't want to have to live with security, and walls, and gates, and everything else. Do you think I want to live that way? Maybe there are some people like that. That ain't me. That is not me. I don't want to believe these things, but unfortunately I find them true."

Beck is a DANGEROUS clown because he has millions of followers who believe his sorry a$$ crap! He is trying to insinuate to his followers that the government wants to harm him and his family. It's not the government or special interests he needs to fear...it is Rupert Murdoch who may put a contract out on him for the loss of money and status in the media world.

Beck is a twisted piece of crap who needs to be locked away. He is still a relatively young man who has many years to look back on his wasted life of being a traitor to his country. Shameful and disgraceful.

Have so many blue-chip advertisers ever fled a program as quickly as the who's who of corporate America that's sprinted away from Glenn Beck in recent weeks? " Great news today -- 11 more sponsors have distanced themselves from Glenn Beck's television program, bringing the total to 57.

Eleven new companies whose ads were recently seen during Beck's program--Binder & Binder, Capital One, The Dannon Company, Discover, HSBC, ICAN Benefit Group Insurance, Infiniti, Jelmar (manufacturer of CLR All-Purpose Cleaner), Jordan McKenna Debt Counseling Network, Mercedes-Benz and Simplex Healthcare (creator of the Diabetes Care Club) --have pledged to ColorOfChange.org to take steps to ensure that their ads don't run on Beck's show. Fifty-seven companies have now committed not to support Beck's show since ColorOfChange.org launched its campaign four weeks ago after the Fox News Channel host called President Obama a "racist" who "has a deep-seated hatred for white people" during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

"We applaud those companies that have recently pulled their support from Beck," said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. "There are at least 57 companies who will not tolerate Beck's race-baiting comments and we will continue to reach out to those who are still supporting him." "

"Over 173,000 members of ColorOfChange.org have signed a petition asking sponsors to stop advertising during Beck's show, and their efforts are paying off."

You are a racist. I have read Obama's books and he speaks from the point of view of a black man in America having experienced racism in this country. I am a black woman and have experienced racism NUMEROUS TIMES in my life, seen it NUMEROUS TIMES in my life against others, have extensive knowledge of slavery, Jim Crow and racism in the USA and see it spread all over the air waves from the Glenn Beck's and others. I also know the code words and see it extensively in threads and blogs like this.

Go back to your racist hole in Canada. You are a disgrace to most Canadians who are aware of what is going on here. Shame, shame, shame on YOU.

But then I did hear William Ayers may have been the ghost writer of the second book .... don't repeat that .... we all know Obama did not know Ayers and did not sit in a church listening to racism and anti white speech for over twenty years .... wait a minute - he WAS there he just did not hear it .... guess he must have fallen asleep during the loud and boisterous yelling that was going on.
My family stretches all across Canada and many of us have adopted children of all colours so be careful when you throw the 'r' word around. Northern, You must know the truth before you can tell it. I think you are very confused about what Obama is trying to do here. You don't seem to understand that we have people here with no insurance at all. We have people here that are dying because they don't have insurance or can't get insurance or their insurance won't pay their bill and we need real reform now. We are fighting giants here. We are fighting against Big Insurance Corporations with lots of bribery money. Its hard enough to fight them and the sheeple that they have doing their biding without people like you that don't really know what we are up against coming along and throwing stubbling block in the way.
Our health care is rated 37th in the world. That's not what I call good health care.
62% of all bankruptcies in this country are due to health care issues.
Our infant mortality rate is 29th in the world and that's pretty sad when you think about the fact that people think this is one of the richest countries in the world.
Almost 50 million people here don't have insurance at all.
But you still think we should sit back and just let things continue on as they are. We should let our Big Fat Greed Insurance corporations continue to screw us while they charge us up the wazoo for the screwing. Because without a single payer or at least public option that is what they will do. That is what they are doing now.

I do know the truth of what is happening in your country Cynthia and I thank you very much for your profound reply. There is no way of knowing how many uninsured Americans there really are uninsured and in the 50 million this administration throws around are a great number of illegal immigrants, young people who would rather spend thier money on fun than insurance .... the list goes on .... Your system needs to be re-vamped ... THAT is something the government can force the insurance companies to do and at the same time the government should start cleaning up the mess in all the programs they now run (here in Canada as well - our politicians are just as dumb) .... As well making the insurance companies base your rate on the whole nation instead of state by state would save every American a wagon load of money .... If you look at premiums on a state to state level its ridiculous! Residents of some states pay minimal amounts while those living in say California pay a maximiun .... Why are they allowed to do that? The government can legislate a lot of things and take away their right to deny coverage at a reasonable rate to anyone with existing conditions ....
Take it from one who voted for change in my country in the late 60's beleiveing it would be a good thing - it wasn't ... it was a huge mistake and if I could take one thing back I did in my whole old life it would be voting for the same kind of change Obama is trying to force on America. It will not work - it has been tried all over the world and has NEVER worked .... Romney brought it into his state when he was governor and that state is going bankrupt after only a few years .... I consider America a very good friend of Canada and as such I have been trying to tell all of you that once you let one freedom go - the rest follow .... it really does ....

Cam V. (417)

The biggest concern for America right now is the debt you are currently carrying and it does not matter any more who's fault it is ..... the fact remains that fooling around with 1/6 of your economy is not going to fix or help this debt .... if you are in debt does it make sense to you to take on more debt when you already cannot pay off what you owe?

Marion Y. (322)
Thursday September 3, 2009, 7:23 am
Example: I need a job, a suit to go for an interview for a job, a place to sleep and food to eat. I'm starving. My car has bald tires and is on its last leg. I have $500 left to my name. I have no other source of income and owe lots of money to debtors. I'd like to borrow money but no one will lend to me. I have no family or friends to help me. I can't even afford an attorney to file bankruptcy. The stress has caused me to continue to relapse with the flu. I have no health care insurance. I am 30 years old and have good technical skills.

What should I do?

The first thing "I" would do is bargain with a doctor for medication. Next, I would get a hot meal and load up on vitamin C and juice. Next, I would buy a good quality, USED suit, tie and shoes. I would then buy a newspaper (for a job), find a store restroom to shower and shaver and go sleep in my car. For the next week I would focus like a laser on getting a job. By the end of the week, I expect at least one job offer.

Notice that health is my first priority. It's been said that one's health is one's wealth. If you don't have good health, you have nothing. You don't feel like eating, living and can't do very much. In a depressed, stressed state, the body's immune system breaks down and the person spirals downward without doctor's care.

This is what Obama is doing...

Bush has left him (and us) with this gigantic, unbelievable MESS. Just about every area of government - federal and local - is a mess from corruption, incompetence and neglect. For decades, this mess has been swept under the rug and ignored. Now, you can barely walk across the room without falling over the rug. The rug can hold no more trash.

Contrary to what we've been told, the US is in a DEPRESSION, not a recession. Job and home losses are so great each day that in 2-5 years intense panic will set in with the masses. The domino effect will create masses of hopeless middle class people who have lost everything and are ready to take whatever they need to survive. Crime will be uncontrollable. The have nots WILL take from those who have.

Studies of countries where economies have collapsed throughout history have proven the nightmare will be out of control. Tens, if not hundreds of millions of people could die through murder, hunger and neglect. Again, the masses would attack the wealthy and those who have managed to still have something. If our leaders don't step in and take care of our basic needs to get us on our feet, the masses will overtake the system and take matters into their own hands. Again, this is what civilized societies do when they break down and collapse.

Dog eat dog. It's human nature. Survival.

Very few people in society have studied this phenomenon or understand it. Even fewer people have worked in their communities and seen what happens when poverty sets in and people need drastic help. We are a ME society, so its easy to see why few understand. It takes great compassion (empathy is even better), advanced people skills, leadership, resourcefulness, teaching ability and a strong spiritual foundation to turn around a community. Obama has these talents and has already successfully used them.

The same needs to turn around a community and bring it to its feet are the same needs for a nation...on a grand scale. One of the biggest challenges underlying all the mess Obama has inherited is the moral breakdown of the USA. As he tries to fix each problem, there are numerous corrupt forces working against him. The forces working against him know that millions could die. Many of us believe they may actually want this to happen so there is more for themselves. Problems with this thinking is that these forces may lose out too. But this is how criminals think: they don't think things through to an ultimate conclusion. They believe they can override human nature and natural forces.

Liberals understand the above quite well because they know that a fence is only as strong as its weakest link.

I understand this even more so. On a tiny scale, I have been quite successful in turning around a community that was falling apart. As a community organizer and volunteer, I used the same blueprint Obama is using on a massive scale when the system is about to collapse. I have used this method to teach criminals, the down and out, seniors and even regular students to learn a complex subject and get responsible good paying jobs as a result. There's only a small window to prop this economy up. That's where we're at right now.

Oh, and the example above...that's my true story with a few changes. I'm a female, I had 3 small children, had just left an abusive husband, drove to my hometown where I knew how to find resources, had no family or friends to help me, and had to get help any way I could with less than $500 to my name. The 3 things I had going for me were: faith, high self-esteem and a sense of responsibility for my children. I was fortunate. Most are not.

I was able to find a great job as a secretary with excellent health benefits. Other than regular checkups, I seldom visited the doctor for me and the children. But the sense of security over the next 20 years of having that health insurance as I raised my children and worked gave me what I needed to live as a responsible citizen and not be dependent on the system or anyone. I paid my way through college as I worked and raised the girls, as well as supplemented my income by being a military reservist for over 20 years. My story is a success story, it is rare. I want no credit. It took its toll on me and my health, but I survived and used it to help others. My poverty stricken, abusive upbringing gave me the empathy to know that the downtrodden don't choose their life. They just need a helping hand. Once they are on their feet, they benefit society exponentially and help a nation prosper.

The health insurance gave me peace of mind knowing that if a health emergency came up, I would survive it financially.

I understand what is at stake. I GET what Obama is trying to do. I know firsthand the devastating blow it can be to a family without health, without a job, without a home and without food. I know that as humans we need all of those basics. But without health, we have nothing.

The battle being waged around health care reform is between the elites (led by the republicans), big pharma and hospitals (doctors) VERSUS the people. It is NOT the health insurance companies because they have already agreed to the public option.

THE FRINGE PEOPLE who oppose health care reform are republicans. Most of these people are racists who oppose having a black man as president. Nothing Obama says or does will EVER satisfy them. EVER. Racism is imbedded in American society just as sure as the sun rises every morning. That's a given.

The republicans who are leading this battle against THE PEOPLE are using every trick in the book to stop health care reform. They have thrown out numerous lies (birthers, death panels, twisted the initial reform package) to fool THE FRINGE PEOPLE. These people know the lies are merely excuses to cover their RACISM. The believe the lies because they want to. They only needed an excuse to fight Obama. These people fear blacks and minorities coming into power...possibly treating the fringe people as they have treated minorities for over 400 years?

What the fringers fail to realize is that by providing health care to all, it will primarily save the middle class (whites), not just minorities. It is the entire middle class that Obama is focused on. It is minorities that the fringers are focused on. The middle class are the people losing jobs and homes in droves every single day. When we talk about 47 million uninsured, that's just the tip of the iceberg of how many could potentially be uninsured and sick within the next 2-5 years.

Obama is trying to head off a complete collapse of this nation.

The elites know or may suspect the fears of the fringers are not real. But they FEED those fears to achieve their agenda...stop health care reform and bring the republicans (who brought our economy to its knees) back into power. The majority of citizens want health care reform and understand we need it. But the fringers are raising hell with the help of elite, racist mouthpieces (Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and others). The republicans/elites have no health care solution and never had a solution because they don't want one. This is an evil, selfish, anti-American deed, if ever there was one. The want to completely bleed this country to death. We are a morally, spiritually and financially empty nation.

The elites who would escape the complete devastation they would cause to this nation doesn't matter to them. They have stolen enough money to escape this country and live rich lives in safe places...until the dust settles and they can reap the harvest left after the masses have destroyed themselves. Fantasy? Maybe...maybe not.

Obama was elected because he has the talents to turn our economy around and help this crippled giant. Those of us who have lived and studied what he is dealing with know he is on the right track to do it. The evil we fight is MONSTROUS. And if the US economy collapses, other nations will sink with us.

It takes money to make money. Obama has a fiscally responsible mind and knows that in just a few years, health care reform, educating the masses, green jobs, rolling back the ENORMOUS tax cuts to the rich by Bush, auditing government waste and other projects WILL turn this economy around.

Obama knows the lazy days of the rich elites, corporations, big pharma and greedy conservatives are over if we are to save this nation. He could easily go off and earn millions with his wife and have a quality, wealthy, normal life. Rather, Obama is on a mission.

The majority of Americans GET that.

For those who gave Bush a blank check to wreck this nation and the world...they need to get out of the way and let Obama do what he needs to do.

* Glenn Beck is still losing advertisers. 11 more advertisers bail on Beck; total now at 57

From a September 2 press release from ColorOfChange.org:

Eleven new companies whose ads were recently seen during Beck's program -- Binder & Binder, Capital One, The Dannon Company, Discover, HSBC, ICAN Benefit Group Insurance, Infiniti, Jelmar (manufacturer of CLR All-Purpose Cleaner), Jordan McKenna Debt Counseling Network, Mercedes-Benz and Simplex Healthcare (creator of the Diabetes Care Club) -- have pledged to ColorOfChange.org to take steps to ensure that their ads don't run on Beck's show.

I agree with everything you have wrote here Marion except for the part where you don't think it's the insurance corporations that we are fighting here. I believe it is. I think they are behind all of these right wing nuts that are coming out to town halls and disrupting them. Our insurance corporations will do everything they can to stop single payer or a public option from getting into this reform. They know if we were to have single payer or a public option it well be the end of them. And I believe they will do anything to see this doesn't happen. I believe that they are the ones that are stiring up all this racist crap with the help of Glen beck and others. Thank you, Northern. As I said, with some minor changes, it is my story. There were times in my life when I felt I could no longer go on. It was the love and devotion for my children, as well as my faith, that kept me going. Had it been just for myself, I'm not sure I would have gone on. I have lived with and been surrounded by some of the lowest types of people and conditions imaginable. As a child, some things were so horrible, I blotted them out for years...too painful to recall even now. I have brothers in prison now doing time for crimes I will not mention here. Out of 7 children, I'm the only one who has a decent life. I got lucky. I have never wanted pity. I just wanted the opportunity to work, feed my family and have health care. This is what the majority of people want.

We have been able to shove the poor under a rug for many, many years. It was okay for society to ignore them when we could keep them in ghettos where they only bother themselves. What people need to realize is that the poor will now be coming from the middle class as they lose jobs in droves. They will be living next door to me and you. In August, 216,000 lost jobs...almost 1/4 of one million people. That is shocking. We can add this number to the 15 million already unemployed...and we know the government undercuts that statistic. At that rate, we will have an additional 2,500,000 people unemployed every year until the economy turns around.

The already poor in this country will fare better than the newly poor from the middle classes. I've experienced that situation too. I've had friends who divorced and had their incomes drastically reduced when their husbands' income was no longer available to them. I've had to show these women how to shop at discount stores and manage their money better. Coming down in status is way harder than going up.

Obama is trying to prepare the nation for the masses of poor coming from the middle class by getting health care for everyone. It's only one piece to deal with, but it is major. At the same time, he's trying to get us off our dependence of oil, create green jobs and bring manufacturing back to the US. The mess he's been left with is horrific.

I don't want anyone to live the nightmare I grew up in and struggled for years to overcome. No one deserves that. Health, education and jobs are key. I endorse Obama's efforts to help this nation in those areas.

We do share some things - I am the son of a dirt poor French Canadian 'farmer' .... my parents had a farm way up towards the tundra line in Alberta, Canada and though my father's dad and his brothers were very successful my father bought the only farm in the area that grew rocks and almost nothing else. We moved to British Columbia when I was seven (early 1950's) and it was the worst time of my life .... I only spoke french and was thrust into an english speaking school as were my four brothers and sisters. There was nothing lower in Canada at that time than being a french Canadian. We were still dirt poor so my mom became a foster parent for the Catholic aid society. We ended up with two girls that my family raised from birth though my parents were never allowed to adopt them because they were native indians. They are my baby sisters to this day and their children are an important part of my life.
I took a paper route when I was eleven and quit school before I graduated to help my parents .... I also went through a divorce and all the usual (and unusual) trials and tribulations of life .... I was a forklift driver in a freezer so am pretty much a self educated old man now .... my biggest education coming in the late 1960's when we had our Obama here in Canada ....
He is the one who promised and delivered on everything Obama has and the one I voted for and supported until I saw this kind of system could simply not sustain itself. There are many other options with your health care that could be done without your government taking it over .... those are the ones that should be looked at first because the one he is offering will bankrupt your country Marion .... Canada is living proof of this...
We only get basic health care now whereas it began with all of us entitled to eye exams, dental, physio, counselling .... all the things in health care that a person may need just to get through life but it is all gone. A family of four pays over four hundred bucks a month for this and it is about to go up. It is not a system supported by the rich as was promised .... it is a system that is being barely sustained by the middle income earners in my country because we are the majority population and that is always the ones who end up paying. Middle income in Canada is about 55,000 and when you add up all the tax we pay (personal to the government sounds good but we have a lot of hidden taxes most Canadians are not even aware of) almost half of what we make we pay to support this failing system ...
This is what you are being offered and it will not help America - it will bankrupt you ..... you also have a much higher income level in america who pay no tax - here in Canada it is much lower because the government needs all the income it can get and it still is not enough ..
I love my country and would not want to be anything other than a Canadian Marion but I love America as well. I do not want to see your country, the greatest on this planet do to itself what we did. You have to get it right and though Obama has a great vision - he is a very inexperienced politician Marion who is trying to please all sides at once ... Instead of uniting your country he along with his administration is tearing it apart and from my side of the fence this is again his inexperience showing through. He needs to step up and start being the president of all the people .... let all of America know that he is listening to everyone - and he is not doing this .... it has been mistake after mistake and it needs to stop.
What should be one of the most historic administrations in the history of your country is turning into one of the most horrific but he can turn things around and in spite of what is being said the outside world views this as a huge matter of differences with his administrations policies (Pelosi is not helping him at all) rather than anything to do with race yet every time an argument is raised the race card is played - and that must stop as well.
No one here in Canada ever believed that America would elect an African American President .... while I always thought it would be Colin Powell, an american I much admire (and someone who is also telling Obama to slow down) I knew that your country has grown up a great deal. Change happened the day Obama was sent to the White House - now he needs to be the leader everyone wants him to be - get rid of some of the radicals .... get rid all the talking heads that are surround him now and keep just a few close to him so he can decide where he wants to lead America to .... Americans will not be dragged - and that is the problem ....

... and one more thing - if Obama truly wanted to introduce the health care dontcha think it would have been a better idea for him to do this BEFORE ALL THE BAILOUTS???? Would it not have been more important for him to have helped the massive numbers of Americans it is claimed do not have health care than to have bailed out special interest groups?

Northern...You background life is touching. But your experience is just that...yours. There are other Canadians who tell a very different story than the one you tell about your health care system and economy. If you are truly Canadian and love your country, why are you not on blogs trying to fix your own system, rather than talking about another country's system you don't understand?

Your ALL CAPS comments tell me there is desperation and you may not be all you say you are.

I'm not in the mood to explain any more to you. Suffice it to say, Obama knows far more about fiscal, government, legal, political and beaurocratic matters far more than you or I. He is addressing USA matters in the order of greatest importance.

I've never understood people who don't get their own house in order before they go meddling in their neighbor's. I guess I never will. And I will probably never understand arm chair philosophers who have never walked in the shoes of someone who has done it.

This conversation with you is over. I don't have time to explain things to someone with an agenda that opposes mine and doesn't know what they are talking about. Have a good day!

By the way, Colin Powell is a sell out, Uncle Tom who is complicit in the war crimes of Bush, Cheney etal because he feared what they would do to him. Powell is no leader. You just like the way he kowtows to your idols, Bush and Cheney. I suspect you are a troll, but I could be wrong. There are numerous idiots who don't get paid for supporting the status quo that is sinking America.

Obama is perfect for this country at this time. I wish he were even more radical. I'd like him to end the wars now, pull out troops from all other countries and put that money into our people. I wish he would roll back the tax cuts to the rich immediately and impose a further tax on corporations and the rich to bail us out of this mess. I wish he would expose the traitors in our government who caused 911 and started an illegal war that killed and injured millions of innocent Iraqis, trashed their country and crippled our nation. I wish he would put a muzzle on the liars in the media and on blogs like this. Not censorship, but muzzle those who lie and do harm to the country who do not mean well. Lawsuits, jail time and fines would be fine with me.

Blue and I have done our homework. Go back to Canada or whatever hell you came from and do yours. Your conservative/neocon comments and ideas have no place in a world that is suffering from greed, incompetence, corruption, disregard for the law and the murdering and raping of the people.

As Blue said...Shame, shame, shame on you!

Of course Canadians will defend their health care system. Only a fool (or a liar) would denounce it.

Beck is one sick, effed up piece of work. Him and Limbaugh are good at laughing at physically challenged people, never thinking it could just as well have been them in that situation. Living rich, privileged lives -- for their entire lives, yet with poor, classless upbringings -- they cannot sympathize with others who are without. I'm still amazed he's on the air. Glenn Beck: The Louse That Roared

"It always saddens me to see a "Child Left Behind" - all grown up. Glenn Beck would be a text book case.

"Back in the spring on his unintentionally uproarious FOX Noise program, Beck told his television audience:
"First they came for the bankers, and I did not speak up because I was not a banker. Then they came for the A.I.G. executives, and I did not speak up because I was not an A.I.G executive."

"He then looked the camera dead in the eye and ominously told his clueless viewers that eventually "they" (He never specified exactly who "they" were) would be coming for them. It was a gross perversion of the famous Martin Niemoller poem. It was a none-too-subtle effort to compare the Obama Justice Department's prosecution of corporate criminals to Hitler's persecution of the Jews seventy years ago. Nice."

Beck loses 6 more advertisers...

A Line in the Sand Against Beck

"But make no mistake: this attack was not about Van Jones. Beck, in league with big business groups, is seeking to derail the President's progressive agenda, and taking out Van became the vehicle for undermining clean energy and green jobs."

"To date, 62 companies have pulled their ads from Beck's show, including six new companies announced yesterday -- Aegon, Ashley Furniture, Humana, Luxottica Retail (parent of LensCrafters and Pearle Vision), United States Postal Service and Wyeth Consumer Healthcare. These aren't liberal activists wringing their hands over Beck's distortions. These are the bastions of American capitalism saying they don't want their brands associated with Glenn Beck's extremism. The only companies left are direct marketers (think Egg Genie and gold coins) and a handful of private companies headed by right-wingers.

The exodus of major advertisers makes a powerful statement about how far Beck lies from the mainstream. Which is why it's so important to keep the heat on. Advertisers walking away for a week or two is one thing. But as weeks turn to months, and Beck becomes increasingly isolated, it renders his rants permanently fringe. Why would anyone (the White House or otherwise) respond to someone whose views are too toxic for any respectable corporation?"

Real Time With Bill Maher September 11, 2009 Panel Two
Richard Clark- Former Chief Counter Terrorism Advisor, Natl Security Council
Paul Rieckhoff - Director, Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America
http://www.casttv.com/search/uploader%3A%22NotTullycast%22/1

Maher: Okay, it's not the 19th century, it's the 21st century...to heckle the President, to shout at him during a speech...Would the heckler [Wilson] have he have done this if it was a white president? I don't think so. I think this is a southern guy who thinks "I can do whatever I want when it's a black guy speaking."

Richard Clarke: I think there's a right-wing strategy to delegitize the President. It's not just the birthers...it's part of the whole pattern. It's sick bull and what we used to call Klan, John Birch...they never went away. And this guy is part of that manure, and it's dangerous manure because some of them are not only dangerous, they're armed.

Maher: And some of them who didn't want the President to speak to their children. No one who is sane would think the President was going to make a partisan speech to school children. And yet, there's something about that...I'm sorry, I know it drives Conservatives nuts when you accuse them of racism. But when you don't want the President just talking to your kids...Look, I grew up in an all white town in Northern New Jersey. Yeah, New Jersey. That's what bedroom communities were after WWII. And I remember hearing parents talk when I was a kid. They didn't want black people 'just talking' to their kids. That's what this reminded me of.

Rieckhoff: There's a huge percent of people who don't accept him [Obama] because he's young, because he's an outsider, because he's black...and I think there's alot of folks in Washington, especially, who refuse to accept that he's really the President. And they don't show him respect whether it's in Congress or in the classroom...And the people who keep there kids out of school to avoid the President, THEY need to go back to school. We've got a high school drop out rate that's through the roof, and he's [Obama] one of the most inspirational people of our time, regardless of how you feel about his politics. If he wants to talk to your kid, it's probably a good thing. I mean, what else are they going to watch?

Maher: I do think some of the right-wingers are always dropping subliminally racist messages...

Clarke: That's because they can't win on the issues. This whole "health care debate"...have you noticed a health care debate? I haven't. I've noticed all sorts of craziness, but we haven't been talking about health care. We haven't been talking about the facts and statistics. They [right-wing] lose when we have a real argument on the facts.

Rieckhoff: It's complicated, it's complex and I think it makes Iraq and Afghanistan [....] it seems to be the same sort of run up that we saw before the Iraq War...there's not alot of responsible journalism, there's alot of partisan bickering, and we're really not getting into the facts of a very complicated issue.

Maher: I just want to show you what I mean by subliminal messages that are racist. This picture is from the Drudge Report...we're not making this up

[picture of Obama above bold type words: POLL HELL: OBAMA NEGS RISE]

Maher: "NEGS" is short for "negative". You know what, for a certain number of people "NEGS RISE" [Bill shakes his head]

=======

Some of the BEST voices are saying this rally, along with the birthers, death panels, town hall protests, disrespect by Republicans (Joe Wilson), President not talking to their kids is primarily people not accepting that a black man is President of the USA. That these people are using the argument of the "health care debate" and "government spending" as their protest. But they don't have an argument. Here's the transcript from a panel discussion last night on Bill Maher's show:

Maher: Okay, it's not the 19th century, it's the 21st century...to heckle the President, to shout at him during a speech...Would the heckler [Wilson]have done this if it was a white president? I don't think so. I think this is a southern guy who thinks "I can do whatever I want when it's a black guy speaking."

[End of transcript]
-----

So, you can say whatever you want about the "activists" marching against government spending all you want. There is a majority of Americans, politicians, journalists and political advisers who see this for what it is: RACISM.

These racists are defining themselves for all Americans and the world to see. They are now seeing what blacks, hispanics, native americans and other minorities have endured for over 400 years in this country...the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave...RACISM that was never meant for everyone else to see...just minorities.

Now that these racists believe they have lost control, now that the party that supports their racist views -- Republican -- has lost power, they have gone batcrap crazy at the thought of a black man being the president. These people don't even realize what everyone else knows...they are racists and the rallying cry of minorities all these years that racism is blatant in America is now acknowledged for the world to see.

So, we have an embarrassing situation on our hands. A significant, yet not overwhelming, group of white racists fearing that blacks will overtake "their" country. What do they fear? That blacks will treat them as they have treat blacks all these years? Do they fear blacks will take their jobs, take their women and make them slaves?

That's all this is: FEAR. Cowards whose ancestors have bullied, enslaved and brutalized others over the years, as they themselves now continue to bully, murder and brutalize others through wars, corruption and racism. Blacks consist of less than 15% of the population. What's to fear? We've locked up many of them for crimes whites get away with. So that 15% is significantly less when you consider many black men are in prison.

And Obama...he is half black, half white like me. Raised by his white family (like me). His ties to black culture are what he has learned, just like whites, because he was not indoctrinated with the black culture like blacks. I'm not saying that is bad or good. It just is. But these racists are not considering that he is not what they think he is. The norms don't apply to him. He was raised in Hawaii for many of his formative years, so he has a world perspective much like Hawaiians: Eastern philosophy, laid back, nonaggressive, love everyone.

Think about it: Obama thinks more like a white Hawaiian. Being of mixed race, he sees both sides of the cultural battle through eyes that are understanding and nonjudgmental. He is probably one of the most intelligent, inspirational and shrewdest politicians and humanitarians we will ever know or hear about. But because we are a nation filled with FEAR, GUILT, IMMORALITY, GREED and yes, SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION, we want to categorize him like the black men we have demonized for years in the USA.

And while it was abhorrently wrong to classify and demonize black men, it is just as wrong to classify Obama through the eyes of a racist. These people, including some blacks, have no idea who Obama really is.

Frankly, he is a man who loves people and wants them to get along and love one another where we all can prosper. I think he is foolish to think this, but I have lived within a racist regime all my life and am not as optimistic as he is. We have been given a gift with Obama...another chance to pull this country and ourselves out of the abyss. Even if we all support him fully, there's only so much he can do because of the politicians, elites and corporations pulling his strings.

I'm not happy about the wars and want us to pull out now. We're losing lives, money badly needed here and we have no business in those countries. There are other things I don't approve of in Obama's agenda. But as a progressive, I can see he is doing what he possibly can to fix this crippled, sinking nation.

And here we are still living a lie because of what? FEAR...CHANGE...INSECURITIES.

Instead of helping him, we are fighting him. We are fighting ourselves. We are cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

I'll tell you straight out, those who fear change, fear minorities and fear losing control will be left out to dry. We have left our children and grandchildren a MESS because of our fears, racism and greed. They know it. In their anger when it's time to vote and tell us what they think, it will not be favorable to those of us who are stuck in 19th century thinking. They are going to CHANGE this country where you won't fit in or recognize it. Try surviving in a world at age 50, 60 or 70 and your children are telling you they won't tolerate your racism, your greed or dysfunctional ways. It's coming and you won't like it if you don't start looking within now and being honest with yourself. Your golden years could be a nightmare as your children leave you alone to suffer in your rigid, selfish ways.

I did the best I could in raising my own children. Now 30 and 40 years old, they are telling me where I went wrong and what I need to change in myself. I welcome their views because I am honest with myself and recognize they are right. Until we get honest with ourselves, we are not open to healthy criticism and become stuck in a hell of a world we cannot function in.

I'm not sorry for this lecture. It needed to be said.

If we can keep the pressure on, Fox will have to make a choice: 1) drop Beck because it doesn't make business sense to keep him; or 2) communicate to the world that they're so intent on providing a platform for race-baiting and fear-mongering that they don't care if they lose money (a serious problem for a public company like News Corporation, the owner of Fox).

Thanks for everything you've done to make this effort a success -- none of it could have happened without the more than 200,000 of you who have stepped to be a part of this campaign. More than ever, it's time to keep the pressure on. You can help by joining us in thanking the advertisers that have stopped supporting Glenn Beck, and calling on those whose ads are still running on his show to follow suit. "

Hanged [Kentucky] Census worker had 'fed' on chest
He was hung on September 12.

I wonder what Rep. Michelle "I'm refusing to fill out the census" Bachman (R-MN) thinks about this hanging?

This comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed worry that something terrible would come from the right-wing rhetoric and frenzy of the tea baggers...and the republicans laughed at her.

What has this got to do with Glenn Beck, the Tea Baggers and the frenzy of lies?

Everything.

I've been wondering the same thing, Jodi. I see today is Lou Dobbs' day. That was fast. I suspect he was told to leave. Rumor says he is going to spew his racism over at Faux News. I think that's where all rejects go.

There is just something so disturbing about that. I hate that "FauxNews" is getting so much press lately. I have heard their ratings are up....but then I have heard their ratings are down to so don't know which is true.

I heard the ratings are not accurate and FauxNews and others manipulate the data their way. It has alot to do with the monopoly of the provider who blocks other cable news in certain areas. So FauxNews can be on in coffee shops, fitness centers and other businesses 24/7, although the patrons have no say in the choice of channel. Instead of their theme, 'fair and balanced' they should change it to 'fixed and warped.'

Oh yeah I heard of that, how other networks are put into more expensive cable packages while Fox is put into cheaper ones so more people can have access to it. They definitely warped.
