When we sleep, many believe we leave our bodies to travel in other places and/or worlds.

Soul wants to escape!

As I would!

Kills childdren...

Hey, I wouldn't want to return to the body either!!!

There are fates worse than death.

To the many who comment on Care 2, this and other articles, that we pray
To the atheistrs who are doing so very much for us all.
To the followers of other paths who work for our causes.
Our intentions unite us all.

Yes, we are ONE. When a part of us suffers, we all suffer.

When I sign petitions, it's a prayer to Creator. I call it active prayer.

Our prayers, together with our actions in agreement with the positive thnking, intentions and the loving works of atheists, and those who follow other paths, can move Creator to rescue us or at least to inspire and empower us as we work to clean up our mess.

Let's visualize what we want not what we've got.

I think those who pray and those who deny would all agree on picturing and acting together
for what we want to be, an Earth where we can all live in peace and harmony and caring about one another.

We are as cells in one body.

Let us pray, act, believe
picture, whatever we do
let our intentions

This is what we do on Care2.We agree to act together.

This is what the many groups of activists do
together. We are of every race, color, creed.
We are united as Rainbow Warriors.

Let us love and support one another.

Genetically-specific biological attack. Sounds like science fiction, but most truth does to the unobservant. We need to get the damn planes out of the skies.

" The disease is confined to certain communities. " This does look like either a bio-weapon ( as was mentioned, targeting certain genetic markers) or a toxic attack. I would be interested to see the credentials of the toxicology researchers investigating this - there have in the past been examples of politically motivated bad science in Africa. Countries without sophisticated, well-funded, and multiply independently monitored labs have fallen victim to such things as fake AIDS drugs dumped on them as fake charity from big pharma. So sad.

Maybe we can blame homophobia for this disease and eradicate both? Ideally, we'd find and remove the toxin or pathogen involved in this illness and prevent it. Maybe they need to evict Monsanto and Union Carbide along with all the homophobes in Uganda?

Why only the children? It is definitely a Neurological disease and from my own experience with M.S. there won't be any cure in the near future. This is M.S. on steroids!

My sympathies to to all the affected Children and their Families. I do not know what special tests have been performed and I AM NOT AN EXPERT ('Master') of anything but I am interested to know what minmal SPECIAL TESTS_Virology,BRAIN and SPINAL CORD IMAGING and IMMUNE studies tests have been performed by the Makerere University Medical Experts ? There is claerly A GRADUAL LOSS OF NEURONES (Nerve Cells) in BARIN and SPINAL CORD and the 'NODDING simply means the Nuchal (Neck) strap muscles that keep the head up against gravity have lost the NERVE-MUSCLE (Myo-neural) connection either because the ''Firing' Neurone is dead or there is a failure of electrical signal to pass through to the Neck muscles. The body-mass loss (wasting) is the result of the muscles receiving constant electrical signals that prevents them SHRIVELLING UP ! The FITS)(convulsions) are simply a process of shrivelling (atrophy) of the Brain mass (greater matte) with the few surviving cells firing hyperactively across Brain pathways (white matter) that are also stripped off their 'cabling insulation) and are therefore incompletely connected !

Scary and tragic. I also would be interested in the tests done, and if researchers from other universities/hospitals have been involved.

Interesting article on a very sad and yet unheard of disease. I can only imagine what kind of pain Patrick's family is going through watching him pass away from something so debilitating, yet so mysterious. My prayers are with Patrick and his family and the people of Africa, and all of those who are doing research to cure this disease. Thank you for shedding light on this condition.
