Beware of the blondes. It's not life advice, but it could save you a good deal of trouble on Facebook, where scammers,

The zombie profiles all show blond women in their early 20s with the same interests, the same favorite sport (cricket) and the same favorite movie, "Arab Spring Wedding," said Dan Tynan from PC World.

I don't have a facebook page.......Seems rather silly to me.

Not on Facebook as I have always that the site was not all that good.

Have asked Care2 to have a click, checkpoint to opt out of Facebook pop-ups
which appear all over in C2. I get very tired of seeing them in C2.

Once you have a FB account, you cannot get rid of it. Whatever you have in FB is there forever.

By the way, some of the people who run the security in FB used to work for bush...

Sucker berg is a, gasp, a republican!

Ty, Green.

Thanks for the warning. I have never had a FB and never intend to have one. Heard on the news last night their stock is tumbling fast.

I use FB for posting petitions - only. I am not looking for friends there but do accept some from people I already know. With all the recent nonsense about FB I just may stay with for petitions.

Hah! Beware lest thy vanity be thy ruin!
Shame we have to be so cautious to avoid getting scammed. Not surprising from FB though. Zero content/participant control.
But now that we're on to them they'll start dyeing (sp. ?) their hair!
Tx for the heads up Green Bee!

I have succumbed to FB mostly for C2 use (I'm with Jim P. about getting rid of FB in C2 processing of comments). I wish I'd never joined FB or Twitter, which is ever more useless than FB, IMO. I'm also not a fan of Google, even though their search engine seems to be the best... all of their other intrusive features drive me nuts and I try to stay away. But I must say, I hope all those big dopes who bought into FB's first deal on Wall Street really got burned. They deserve it big time!

John C., I went to the site you listed thinking it would give me step-by-step instructions on how to get extracted from FB, but nooooooooo, it's an Onion piece spoofing FB as a CIA rep. Now there may be some usefulness to the CIA but you do realize this is a put-on, don't you? Let's not feed into any more paranoia than we all must already have, please! My heart can't take much more. Geeze!!

I don't have FB, nor do I need it in my life. Care2 keeps me busy, and now that my vegetables are up and running, I stay busy with that. Thanks, Betsy for this, tho'. I'm passing it on to family and friends.

Not sure what you are referring to Caitlin, a different story maybe???
FB is spyware, no such thing as privacy there.
FB is a huge database, revealing what people really think and how they feel.
If your opinon does not agree with the 'social norm', corporate-approved, generic mind-set for your demographic; you are judged as an aberration, mentally deficient, unqualified to express a rational opinion.
Our condition is 'being human', our disease can only be treated by prison or cured by death. So says Uncle Sam, the only psychiatrist certified by Judge Big Brother...
Everyone should get the heck out of Zuckerville!
Care2 is too closely associated for my taste.

I see now Caitlin, you have confused me with Wolf A.
I do agree that FB is used as a database for American authorities.
It's like 'turning yourself in' to the 'brain police' for 'thought crimes'.

I use FB because one of my sisters do - she's not "good with computers" that's how we interact on days we can't get together. I know there's a lot of spam & dangerous links (which I warn her about) - and that's true here too, and email, etc.. I figure the Government can disappear me any time, they know where I why Worry?! My husband says they know me too well to take the bait & have to deal with me daily!;)

How does the saying go, Blondes have more fun or something like that, well I use NIS and they don;t seem to enjoy the welcome NIS gives them, at all.

Drive by downloads are a major problem, and it does not have to be just on Facebook. Once a webpage is compromised with a malware delivery script embedded within an ad, you do not even have to click the ad, as just moving your mouse pointer over the ad is enough to initiate delivery! Have you ever just moved your mouse over an ad and suddenly a video started playing by itself, or an ad just jumped up at you?
I hate that! Because it is so intrusive! If I did not click on the ad, then I’m not really interested in seeing it period.

Why can’t advertisers get that through their heads? I finally added” Ad Block Pop up Blocker” to Firefox, and it has worked really great so far. However, my first line of defense is Norton Internet Security 2012, and so far no type of malware has been able to penetrate it yet! It has stopped some really nasty stuff so far without me doing anything, and I really like having an install and forget it, world class Internet security suite, and I even got it on Amazon cheap, since I am an avid bargain hunter (code for cheapskate, lol!)

I ‘m trying to avoid using a “virtual sandbox program like sandboxie” for my browser because I’m too lazy, even though I know it would be 100 safe; anyway here is the link to the adblock browser add on, it is safe and best of all it is free!

Thank you for the comments everyone.

John Cause, I concur with many of your statements.

Yvonne, all three of my children tell me that I do not need to worry about being disappear because the government has learned to avoid me. (Not quite sure what that means.)

Frank, I love Norton Internet Security 2012. Thank you, I am going to get adblockplus. I have a game site I love and I go to it right after I watch the Colbert Report on weekdays. The site has old fashioned games, all fond memories and I was using it to relax in the evening. Lately, it has been plagued with pop ups. I will download it right now..

I've never had an interest in starting a Facebook account, and you've given me yet another reason not to. Besides, Mark Zuckerberg has more money than a lot of small countries!

I'm like Kit, i started out only posting i have 3 different activist groups i started, and i've just said to hell with it and let everyone post what they will, as i have no time to police it.
We are a pretty secure little group, mostly care2 people, all with common goal, so we look out for each other...and lord knows the tech advice they help me with has saved my butt, and computer more than once.

So while it may have morphed and snowballed, as the saying goes.." .I just can't quit you" fb. *sigh
