If people will prepare and help their neighbors prepare to not rely on the government -- than this would not be so severe. Usually there is less for the people on soc sec than they need per month. They usually barley get what they need, and get help by getting some food and clothes given to them. We all need to prepare to be independent form government checks and pay checks -- like the people who lived off the land -- except -- this might be living indoors or in boats or underground -- who knows. Take your pick and start preparing for the worse -- total self-reliance --with a group or family or self - if something like the worst can still be prepared for. People help people.

Just this morning alone I signed over a half dozen petitions in my inbox to protect Social Security. In the past couple week I have signed more than I can count. If we get trashed it's not my fault.

All the more reason to ban hydraulic fracturing, ban tar sands, ban pipe lines. ban dams, ban fossil fuels.
All the more reason to become energy independent on your own boat, home. etc, and store supplies and basic needs. People lived off the land for centuries, boiled water, grew their own foods and herbs, lived when they lived, and died when they died.

Signed this one and many others, thanks Kit. Received this email this AM:
The president is set to include a major Social Security benefit cut in his budget on Wednesday. President Obama is proposing the so-called chained CPI, which would cut cost-of-living adjustments for all current and future Social Security beneficiaries. Over two million people took action, and today, live at 12:30PM EDT, Senator Bernie Sanders is going to deliver YOUR Petitions directly to the White House telling Obama: No cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits. Over the last few years Wall Street has thrown every commission, gang, sequester and supercommitee they could come up with at our earned benefits. Each time, you have risen to the occasion. Now we're bringing the fight to the White House. Watch it live!

Ladies and gentlemen, please, you must realize that this whole issue is just a 'ploy' (an action intended to outwit someone), and Mr. Reich is playing his role just perfectly, as are the other liberal pundits.
President Obama realizes, with great insight, that the Republicans will _never_ agree with his compromise, so he comes off appearing to be a fair negotiator and the conservatives deepen the hole, in which they find themselves.

Personally, I don't believe, for one moment, that our President has any intention of sacrificing Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid to the hands of the Big Business LUNATICS.

Have some faith, my Care2 friends, have some faith.

Signed readily. Why anyone would propose a cut to Social Security is beyond me... Some kind of preemptive strike against Republican attacks? If so, it's the President's first major domestic misstep, I think.[

Congress & President always attack and threaten Social Security & Medicare, I think they like the drama of it. They will be complete idiots if they make any cuts on Seniors & Disabled.

They need to start attacking the Welfare System and get rid of the Career Recipients, they will be very surprise of ALL the Cheats. Then work on Annual Income Taxes looking for ALL the frauds. No Income Tax checks for Housed Criminals. Let their money help pay for their keep.

Then go onto Congressman, Senators & President, create lesser budgets for themselves, no fribulous spending. They should be made to take Obamacare what is good enough for us should be good enough for them, afterall they swear it is so much better, I don't want to pay for their Cadillac Policies, No more lifetime benefits. What makes them anymore important than us, its just a job difference w/ an inflatable incomes they have, No more voting on raises for themselves.

Lastly, STOP ALL FOREIGN-AID use those proceeds to give FREE Medical Care to ALL American Citizens, then the remaining they can payback Social Security & Medicare that they borrowed w/o asking the American people, afterall we put the money there. Then start working on our Nation's debt.

I am just sick and tired of the outcome of our leaders decisions, they are not helping the Middle Class. I think they sit around and dream up things to destroy & weaken us.

Disgusted American Citizen

Noted & signed. I have many reservations about Obamacare especially since it raises the cost by 3% which is a huge increase for those barely making it. Medicare and Medicaid should be expanded service wise and funding wise.
If you're a doctor and an undocumented alien comes into your hospital or clinic badly injured; what will you do? Will you treat them? What if it's a street person who's in serious trouble but has no medical insurance will you treat them. If you won't then that Hippocratic oath you took is as worthless as the dearth found in your soul. Expand the existing services and their mandate. Accommodations should be made for those who can't afford it for whatever reason.
