Congress has done nothing as services that protect the most vulnerable populations, like Meals on Wheels and Head Start, are being slashed by the sequester.

This is getting way past ridiculous. It is time for the Senate to fix the rest of the problems and not just the part that concerns their fear they might not make it out of DC to enjoy a break. Think about the rest of us instead of just themselves.

Repeal the Sequester

Congress has done nothing as services that protect the most vulnerable populations, like Meals on Wheels and Head Start, are being slashed because the sequester. (As are medical treatments)

However, Congress has moved to urgently repeal one part of the sequester that inconveniences wealthier Americans. Last Friday, in order to prevent significant delays in air travel, they overwhelmingly passed a bill that ended furloughs at the Federal Aviation Administration.

Please join with the Campaign for America's Future and Daily Kos and tell your legislators to repeal all the sequester cuts, not just those parts that inconvenience the wealthy.

Please go to VISIT SITE and sign the petition, and please do share with friends and family.

Thank you.

S & N, my friend. We know who are the real failures here. They are the ones who vote NO on every single thing that will help us, and push for the things that will destroy us. Remember that next election and vote accordingly. We will not support those who don't support us.

I don't live in the US so cannot sign (nor do I have any right to) but I have read the story with some concern. The fact that any Government shows such apparent concern for only one section of society is something that can only reflect badly on the elected officials who's role is to ensure that everyone is treated fairly.

Gee, how amazing that these wretched politicians can move SO FAST, So fast that they actually made changes to the bill by hand, when it concerns them directly. I sure wish the voters would REMEMBER these acts on voting day.

This may be an appropriate place to share an idea I just had to pay the national debt. It may well be na´ve because I'm new at this or any interest in such matters which I have learned are soooo important. Our finders are good teachers. We have geniuses among us including Kit.

For better or's my idea.

How many Social Security payments are sitting in the banks or remain as uncashed checks because Social Security has never been notified of the recipients decease? This may be na´ve but, considering the flickering intelligence of our public servants to themselves, it might be worth considering.

I was going to call the senators and representatives but then I had a vision of "WHOOPEE!!! LET'S
PARTY. They already stole the money my generation paid in to security in our old age,

I'm catching on, huh?

Anyway, there's the idea in the raw.

Could we pay the National debt down that way?

The sequestration hurts vulnerable people the most, which isn't surprising, unfortunately. Signed. Thanks, Kit.

Zee, I was curious about your social security question. Here's the answer:

"By law, you cannot get payments for any month (including any part of the month) in which you have been convicted and confined in a correctional facility for more than 30 consecutive days.

For example, if you were convicted and confined on March 29, 2012 and you remained in jail until May 2, 2012, you would not get benefits for the months of March, April, or May because you were in jail for 35 consecutive days."

When a death certificate is issued, it is signed by Justice of the Peace, (some states use different names for this office) and Social Security is notified by the funeral home, even if there is no funeral with the body pledged for scientific research. When your born and when leave this earth some government will know about you. Unused Social Security funds are supposed to be reinvested to Social Security endowment fund.

Thanks Judy, I had assumed as much. It's good to have a final answer on that. I hope those answers help, Zee.

Have already signed earlier, thx Kit.
About Zee's idea there- are you telling me that if someone passes away there will be NO notification to ALL agencies, bureaus etc? I would not believe that.

Barbara K (60)
Saturday May 4, 2013, 6:49 pm
Zee, I can add more answer to your question. The undertaker at the funeral home notifies Social Security of every death. If your check were to come, say on the 4th of the month, and you died on the 2nd of the month, that check must be returned to SS. It is as if you were paid a month in advance, but they actually hold back a month.

Thank you for educating me along these lines.

I did suspicion that the money grabbers would have already had the money to add to their bank accounts,
After all, they do have bills to pay. HAH! incredibly expensive homes (several) expensive mistresses, ( quite
a few) of both genders, , bribes to keep their positions, expensive elaborate wardrobes. huge amounts spent on drugs to still 9whatever remainder of consciousness annoys them and many etcs.

Keeping up with the egotistic society of no morals isn't like keeping up with the Joneses.

Thank you Kit, noted and will sign. My comment may seem to be off subject but really isn't.

Re: sequester of monies and services to citizens. We humans ( citizens) have forgotten that we weaker are prey. The weak (us) are fair game, and indeed watched, by predators (stronger) of many kinds. Sequestering of money and services can also be used as blackmail/extortion or a type of persuader (only humans could come up with that), to do as the predator wishes. The predator survives by devouring a source of energy or at least controlling the amount of energy it needs over time while still retaining control over the prey.

Robert B. commented..." I sure wish the voters would REMEMBER these acts on voting day." I will add this to that comment. If that is to be the way to change things then folks really need to give serious thoughts as to voting outside of either the "Red" or "Blue" boxes.....IMO.
