In today’s food-obsessed culture, a teen with strong convictions about what she eats might not turn many heads. But a 14-year-old in Canada took things a step further, venting her feelings on the dangers of GMOs—in front of millions.

On July 31, Rachel Parent went on the popular Canadian talk show The Lang and O’Leary Exchange, where she defended her position in the face of vehement opposition from show host Kevin O’Leary.

Parent argued that consumers should know what’s in their food and that Mother Nature shouldn’t be altered, while O’Leary accused her of being a lobbyist for the anti-GMO movement.

The two butted heads on the issue for the duration of show, with O’Leary concluding the segment by insisting that Parent would grow out of her beliefs.

What do you think? Is Parent uninformed, or is this a case of truth coming from the mouth of babes?

Thanks Rose. I really liked watching that little gal hand that Bill O'Rielly wanna be his words. Though do note at the end, his condescending remarks.

Sure, we all want some yummy toxins in our foods. This man is indicative of the kind of people that support GMO without listening to the possible down side.

I'm so proud of her!

The young are often more wiser than the adults. GMO carries the seeds of destruction!

Kevin O'Leary is a loudmouth bully. He regularly pulls the same shtick with many of the guests who appear on this show. He could make his points defending GMOs without resorting to figuratively beating up on a 14-year-old.

If anyone wants to see O'Leary shot down, check out this segment in which Chris Hedges completely puts him in his place.

Thanks Kit!

Firstly Mr. Bill; how about you eat the GMOs for a period of a few years and see how your health is. Secondly GMOs use more water than they were supposed to and the insects have now adapted to them.
The kid is right on the money. Bill is an ALEC troll but at least he isn't hiding behind some clever moniker unlike a lot of people.

and a round of applause for the Michael(s) - thanks both for your insightful contributions - especially liked the video with Hedges - highlighting O'Leary's character! This young woman has a lot of guts to stand up to that un-called for intimidation - how dare he! I can only imagine he must rule his own daughter with an iron fist and no room for questioning - Ms. Parent presents a very reasonable argument, and yes O'Leary has a point, although not a valid one - he doesn't present the researchers of his own point of view - because there hasn't been any research of duration! - I miss corn! I don't eat it - although I'm sure there's plenty in many products I get - bread being the most obvious - they put corn fructose in everything ugh!

I am always pleased and PROUD of these kids. We have several young girls who have started advocating to stop horse slaughter and save our horses and Lou Wegner who started Kids Against Animal Cruelty. Those on facebook can find his group there.

Kudos who do their own research and make their own minds up and do not want to be hand puppets of either the media or the big companies. There's hope for a future yet.

That guys is using the same old propaganda. HE refuses to see that messing with mother nature will cause all our countries to become starving nations. Take the bees for an example
