Victory in Vermont: Federal Court Judge OKs California Emissions Rules There

Green Lifestyle  (tags: emissions, auto emission, Vermont, California, auto induistry )

Good news for us! The ruling also rejected usurpation of Federal authority charges from auto makers to allow the standards to be implemented in Vermont. Only California & Vermont were sued by the auto industry. 13 states in all have copied California.

This is great. It will force the auto industry to continue cut emissions from their vehicles. Now if California can win...and if the rest of the states would adopt these rules...

Hopefully more states will follow the standards set by California, and force the auto industry to comply.
Noted, thanks Cate......

Noted! Super news! If the EPA will only sign off on the CA emissions plan, the world will be the better for it! I am not a fan of our Governator normally, but his campaign to cut Greenhouse Gases is the best thing he has done since he's been in office!

Indeed, we should celebrate every victory--small ones can lead to larger ones. And we do so need good news on which to focus for however long a period as other matters will allow. Thank you, Cate, for being the bearer of good news. Let's just help keep the pressure on the auto industry.

Now safeguard this victory by voting Kucinich! http://www.care2.com/news/member/971909236/455916
The only Democrat running for president who has consistently spoken for the people has been Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
Here are some of the ways that Kucinich has done this:
(1) co-sponsoring with Rep. John Conyers HR 676, a universal health plan;
(2) voting against the Patriot Act;
(3) voting against invading Iraq;
(4) promising to withdraw from the World Trade Organization and NAFTA, (4) standing opposed to weapons in space;
(5) voting against a flag-burning amendment;,
(6) advocating a 12-point plan to get our troops safely out of Iraq;
(7) voting to cut off funds for prosecuting the Iraq war;
(8) urging the signing of the Kyoto Protocols to cut down on pollution;
(9) advocating education for all, from kindergarten through college;
(10) urging the creation of a Department of Peace,
(11) ending the phony “war on drugs”;
(12) urging renewal of the environment;
(13) sponsoring HR 333 to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney; and
(14) abolishing the death penalty.
All of these positions favor the people over the wealthy and well-connected.
All the other presidential candidates are Democrats in name only.
Ralph Nader called Kucinich “a genuine progressive.”

Such a no-brainer and yet so difficult with the opposition of the three big detroit dinosaurs. This will go to the Supreme Court with its unfortunate number of georgie appointees.

Good news yes,but note,#1 The illegale use,as that judge did jump the gun,& as this is so,his ruleing by law,is not to be fallowed. #2 The waivers are needed,to make this work. #3 EPA can change it's own rule makeing athourity,which would then set this all in jepordy,if it made itself into a sole descrtion athority,as it might. Right now,they do not,which is why the federal ruleing,but nthing stops them as a federal agency from changeing this. #4 look out,if a Bush like creture in Executive position decides to change it. Even if over ruled,it all would take time&your tax dollars,not theirs. As,even on a windy day,CA's air is not clean,this is way past due. O.
