George is at it again...invoking executive privilege, cloaking Cheney is a mist of governmental BS to prevent the truth from being heard...again. Henry Waxman, D-California, is on his tail. GO HENRY!

Someone needs to educate this idiot so he knows what executive privilege really is. It doesn't mean you can break every law of the country because you think you're important. NO one is THAT important and above our laws. Pull Cheney's face off Georgies back side

A sickening web of obfuscation surrounds the Valerie Plame outing. Will we EVER be told the truth about ANYTHING this administration does?

Henry Waxman, California congressman, should run for president! He's a bulldog who really tries to peel away the layers of BS from government.

"You've been hoodwinked. You've been had. You've been took. You've been led astray, led amok. You’ve been bamboozled." - Malcolm X

Thanks, Cate.

I find it amazing that NOTHING has been able to be done - despite efforts by Waxman and the handfuil of earnest legislators like him - to charge the principals in this administration with FEDERAL CRIMES...gggrrrrr!

WASHINGTON — President Bush invoked executive privilege to keep Congress from seeing the FBI report of an interview with Vice President Dick Cheney and other records related to the administration's leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity in 2003.

Well, of course he did!
Would we expect anything more from
His Highness, Our Imperial President?

Carole, great quote from Malcolm X.
I remember another quote from Malcolm,
words to the effect that he foresaw a
war coming in this country, but one that
would NOT be based on "the color of skin".
I agree with the late, great man, and it
will be a war of the have's and have-not's.

Cate, we aren't going to ever know any more
than 1% of what this mis-Administration has
done, with our money and in our names.
Thanks for a great post!

Noted. Looking down this list of commenters, Cate, I would be surprised if any one of us was surprised! 'C' this was the right moment to whip out that Malcolm X quote....something, isn't it, that it is as true today as when he uttered those words the first originally. And that should be instructive enough!

I thought it said Henry Winkler in the film poster. Can't think who he would play though?.It seems to like a mass collusion in this sordid tale of anti-democracy..a collusion that includes many Democrat personnel. It makes me angry when i think about how the attack dogs of the right wing, savaged Bill Clinton for much much less, than they let Bush get away with.

Another of my favourite Malcolm X quotes and fitting for our situation at hand:

"If we don't stand for something, we may fall for anything."

noted, thank you, again, Cate......

Funniest to me? That at the time those things were said, they were considered to be "militant black rhetoric."

Odd, how we now ALL relate them, huh?

My favourite Malcolm X quote,is the one I use regarding very nasty obstacles..which is "by any means necessary".one used in the film, and I can't remember if it was in the biography was "youve been had, you've been hoodwinked..you've been....bamboozled".

Many of us children of the 'militant' 60s had a lot of contact with groups such as the Black Panthers, United Slaves, SDS, the Weathermen and other groups. The messages were basically the same...The ESTABLISHMENT is the bad guy, period. I can recount many stories of how race, religion and sexism didn't mean a thing when the cause was the same.....reminds me of an old Jefferson Airplane song, Volunteers:

Look what's happening out in the streets
Got a revolution Got a revolution
Hey I'm dancing down the streets
Got a revolution Got a revolution
Ain't it amazing all the people I meet
Got a revolution Got a revolution
One generation got old
One generation got soul
This generation got no destination to hold
Pick up the cry
Hey now it's time for you and me
Got a revolution Got a revolution
Come on now we're marching to the sea
Got a revolution Got a revolution
Who will take it from you
We will and who are we
We are volunteers of America

I am mad as hell and ready to take back what our forefathers fought so hard to afford us........!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, I am not surprised @ "King George", as my 88 year old Mother likes to call him. We are in a lose lose situation. Thanks Cate, for all the good information you give us and for caring so much.

5 and 1/2 months and the end of the "code of silence". I do not discuss politics as everyone has their opinions. I guess "for the people" "by the people" has been erased from the United States. Even in states I see where the people voted and by a landslide and the feds declared it against federal law so the peoples vote did not even count. We the people does not count any longer with this administration. We have managed to make the poor poorer, almost eliminated the middle class and certainly made the rich richer while having idiots state it is just all in our minds. Stop your whining was a comment I heard on the news lately. Drill here and drill there even if it will not help us for 10 to 20 years because it will put more money in my pocket. Didnt we hear this 10 to 20 years ago?

Where are our leaders when we need them? Oh, I know, in the pocket books of corporations. I am a senator or a congress person and I will only help you if it puts more money in my bank account. Remember this, except for the Presidential elections, we can vote others in to office. Oopps, did I type that, oh, I forgot it took the Supreme Court to put Bush back into office.

Have a great day all and wake me when its over, sometime after November elections in case this is all just a dream because I know this cannot be the real United States of yesteryears.

Rob...LMAO @ Henry Winkler....Henry WAXMAN is a Democratic congressman who represents a district in California. I admire this man - one of the few politicians I do admire. Another is my own Congressional representative, Rosa DeLauro. She is the chair of the Agriculture-FDA Appropriations Subcommittee and has been really active in dealing with the messes our incompetent FDA gets us into, including still working on this salmonella mystery.

Noted, thanks Cate. It's the Bush Republicans. They will not ever allow Congress to issue contemtp citations against Rove or Cheney. They will filibuster any attmept made to do so, and the Dems don't have votes to stop a filibuster. So again Bush gets away with breaking the law, and so does Mukasey, Rove, and anyone else involved.

I seem to remember that Bush said that if he found out that anyone in his office leaked Plame they would be fired. Now that it's Cheney who leaked Plame to Libby, and Rove knew as well most likely. The only people who go to jail for violating our laws is us. Bush knows where he can "stick" his claim of executive privilege....
