And of course, the state of Alaska would love to see polar bears off the list as well - then they could not only whore for big oil but think of all those trophy hunter dollars! DISGUSTING - AMORAL - UNCONSCIONABLE.

I'm sure we'll do what we can, to help the species survive in parks and Zoo's & be able to tell our future generations, how great we are at preserving the life of our planet ...... No No kids we couldn't protect & save them if they were just running around their natural habitat, where nature put them ????

Noted, thanks Cate. Sounds like Governor Palin McShame's pick for Vice President called all these idiots to file a joint lawsuit. She lost the suit she filed against the Bush administration to have Polar Bears removed from the endangered species list. She is so far to the right, and makes Bush look like a liberal....
If the Repugnants get elected watch out women. You will most definitely have your right to choose taken away from you. The Christian conservatives love this woman. She is more dangerous to our environment than any other person in history. My e-mail inbox is filling up with negative responses for McShame's choice. And even women in Alaska say she has no foreign experience, a hunter and worked as a fisherman, yet she voted against every bill to protect the Alaskan environment. A very bad choice for VP indeed.

Grrrrrrrrr.... Big Polar Bear Slap to them! Keep this up and man will
eventually be on the endangered list as he did nothing to protect the
species that were on the list. Shameful lack of respect for all of God's
creatures. We have but one world and we need to take care of it and all
of the life that is on it.

We are on the endangered list, hello. And by design and determination. They, those conscienceless bastards, have many plans to minimize our numbers. Humanity means nothing to them, are we then surprised by how far they are willing to go in pursuit of their greed fix. Sarah A'Palin is one of the worst, but consider, she's a relatively new player. She, they must be stopped. Vote!

Gag me with a chainsaw. They will not stop until nothing lives on this planet. What then a feeble shame-faced SORRY? That won't cut it. WE CANNOT EAT OIL. WILDLIFE CANNOT EAT OIL. The way they are going that's all that will be left. B*****DS!!!!!

Palin is indeed the female version of Dick Cheney - the new gang, the old gang and most especially Karl Rove all need to be elevated off the planet - let them go someplace like Mars where life has already been eradicated.

Sunday August 31, 2008, 10:03 am
We need to keep fighting back and get the Polar Bear back on the list.
What are they thinking? Do they think about anything except the money in their pockets? Ok, I'm angry now. Those stupid B******DS!!!!!

GETS Greedy? Beyond greedy methinks : ) these companies need us, we don't need them. Once they stop serving the public good (they should not exist if they can not serve the public good) they should be dismantled and given back to the people, who after all, created them in the first place.

ok -- me go back to sleep and dream some more now . . . zzzzzzzzzzz

I'm surprised at the shock generated by this news. The addition of any plant or animal to the threatened or endangered list is fought tooth and nail by big business, especially if it impacts, or can be construed to impact, their bottom line and growth potential. This backlash to the listing of the polar bear is entirely expected, and there's a reason conservation groups have been saying getting the polar bear on the list was the easy part of the fight. Now we have to work to keep it there, don't we?

Tom M. (819)
Sunday August 31, 2008, 11:39 am
Why am I not surprised? Palin has already sued on behalf of Alaska and as a Big Oil tool, but with her unexpected choice as McCain's VP I guess the her handlers told her to drop it. It wouldn't look good for a VP candidate to be suing the federal government at taxpayers expense on behalf of Big Oil so the taxpayers have to defend their government against her lawsuit to decriminalize Polar Bears during a recession, would it? Cute how Big Oil makes us pay and pay and pay... then gets rewarded for gouging consumers by artificially raising gas prices so high that the we the sheeple cry "uncle" and buy the bs propaganda that we can drill our way our of our dependency on "foreign" oil. Even legendary Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens has said this is impossible! Do you really think Big Oil will sell American oil to Americans at lower prices than they can get overseas? I don't think so.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein

Tom M. (819)
Sunday August 31, 2008, 11:47 am
oops - I meant "delist" Polar Bears, not "decriminalize" them. Although Plain seems to view them as criminals for getting in the way of Arctic drilling... and wants to give them a death sentence just for for existing.

Hans L. (958)
Sunday August 31, 2008, 12:02 pm
Thank you Cate! You are amazing!

I swear that polar bears love governors for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even as a midnight snack! Palin for the polar bears ! She loves to kill them well the same for us polar bears there is not one polar bear on this planet that would not eat lovely Sarah Palin!

If people would stop hunting polar bears and would not destroy the habitat of the polar bear they would be fine...but drilling for oil in the arctic is not a good idea!
Oil spill in the arctic will kill polar bears with 100% guarantee!

We should protect all endangered species and not when it is too late.....its great that polar bears are back lets keep it that way! We do not need to shoot 10.000 before we start protecting them i am sure we would have 10.000 WWF members who would love to shoot one and who would pay the price 40.000 Dollar!

Past Member (0)

Palin and Mc Cain will get all the money they need to win this war against NATURE!
Its not against Obama for all the people who do not check this its against this planet!
If you want to save this planet you need to stop BIG OIL from drilling and killing!
Polar bears are not important to BIG OIL only as an incentive for business partners
polar bears that are in the way will be shot! And i bet thousands of polar bears will be killed
if Sarah Palin is the new VP but it will not stop with Polar bears....she will hunt like the old royals did... thousands of animals each year.... If you want to learn how many animals Kaiser Franz Josef of Austria has killed he allone killed 42.000 animals ONE MAN ALLONE!
Sarah will show you that she can kill more.... Kaiser Franz Josef did not hunt from a heli

There won't be any wildlife left if we don't fight for them, and that says a lot about the stinking almighty dollar. Palin should go hunting with Chaney, maybe for fun and a new target he'd shoot her. No, that would just be too good....thanks, Cate.

It is very painfull and sad to watch, read and listen to today's news. We are constantly being reminded of a part of society that is just plain cruel.
The intentional torture, killing and maiming of all animals for money , power and control is sick.It is devastating that humans can sit idly by and watch the great Polar Bear starve, struggle and drown.I for one am committed to work towards changing attitudes and keeping the faith that at some point these people will see the light and come to their senses.

Here in the "United States of Greed", idiots like Palin are becomming the norm! If they win the white house, this country is doomed! They really hate this country and only like what they can suck out of it! After they destroy the USA, they will all move to the new world order in the middle east!
Did you know who first coined the "new world order? ADOLPH HITLER!!!!!!

Sarah Palin would like all of the polar bears to be gone so oil drilling can start and the her Big Dude can continue to snow mobile in peace. Please folks consider what would happen to this country if McCain/Palin are elected, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Cheney/Bush were mild in comparision what these two could do to our country and the planet.

Those Alaskans get big oil payments every year. Every damn one of them and that is what this is about. Money and Oil. As you age, you are suppose to develope a respect for life...all life. This "woman" respects money and wants to be a man. She has children and bet she has them out gutting animals from the time they can walk as she was raised. It isn't like she needs the meat for God's sake. She is an embarrassment to all of us as humans and as women. She acts competetive and wonder if she is trying to compete with her husband. They do seem like an odd couple and she is vindictive as georgie bush is vindictive. With me or you are against me

I would never be e Republican but now I am even more amazed at how heartless and greedy they are and I live in Idaho and would like to be proud of Alaska's governor and instead I am horrified. SHAME SHAME on anyone who is not fighting to save our wildlife and our beautiful polar bears as all animals are precious. She's for guns and trophy hunters. I am also ashamed of our governor who is in charge of BLM lands and they want to shoot wild horses. SHAME on this goverment. May the next one show some compassion somewhere.

The Gang Rape of our Mother Earth continues. Wonder when people will wake up and stop standing by the way side watching, that is basically what is happening, all a big circle jerk while the gang rape is happening. Sorry if i offend anyone by the way I put it but it is the mentality of most of the humans around me. And that is how I have to relay the message to them. But they still don't see it. We live in a stand by and watch society, no one to stand up and fight anymore, those of us that do are getting tired, oh so tired. The gangs are getting to large anymore and there aren't enough of us left. If I'm wrong, PLEASE let me know.

Palin might as well be Bu$h or Cheney in drag.
Palin's Views on Energy & Environment:

o Favors the barbaric "sport" of aerial wolf-hunting to preserve moose and caribou populations... for hunting.

o Doesn't believe polar bears should be considered endangered.

o Global warming denier.

o Supports oil drilling at the expense of polar bears, beluga whales, and ANWR. Minimal interest in clean energy. So much for John McCain's pretense of environmentalism.

Underneath her attractive and youthful exterior, Sarah Palin is no different from the old white guys running the Republican Party. She doesn't care about good government, she doesn't believe in science, she wants everyone to live in accordance with her Old Testament Christian values.

There has got to be a way to put a stop to this idiot Mcshame has running with him. She is out to destroy everything in her path all she care's about is greed and oil sounds like Beaves and Butthead. Can we not get a petition up on her? Its No in Novermber do not vote this is one sure way to keep her and all these idoits out and let America take control of who they want as president, not by what they are told they have to have. The Polar Bears are now at a bigger rish than ever before. Perhaps she will mess up and one of them will have her for lunch. Thanks Cate.

Why are we still buying oil? We can buy hybrids. Why do we continue to complain about oil as we worship celebrities who travel by private jet?

Why do we continue to eat too much meat?

We can stop Big Oil. We control the economy, not the other way around. In fact, the Big Three auto companies are hurting because they did not anticipate the jump in oil - proof positive they do not work with the oil companies.

Marcia C you are absolutely right. Daniel, speak for your self.

Aside from all the useless shrill indignation and hatred of meat eaters so prevalent here, the real tragedy is that a coalition of so called "environmental" groups that have banded together to exploit so-called "endangered wildlife" to try and stop construction of the south border fence with marginal at best evidence. The credibility of these groups have gone down the toilet to many Americans and Americans are the ones whom we need to VOTE for leadership that is accountable.

I am confidant that some of you know that commercial fishermen, farmers and yes, HUNTERS are environmentalists. They have to be because usually they pass their passion to their children whom they share it with. Though we have a long way to go, look at the acknowledgment of this fact with the last farm bill for a start.

We need everyone possible on board and committed to winning this. We are fighting the most powerful interests in the world. Stop the elitist group think geriatric hippie dogma and get out of the way of the millions of good hearted Americans that want to join you.
Or is it more important for you to be right?

This just sickens me. Palin was a target of McCain because yes...all that oil money setting in the cooffers that DO NOT get used for state mattes including childrens healthcare, wildlife protection, and the money owed the Alaskan NAtives. The Alaskan NAtive groups have been robbed much like all the Natives in the lower 48. It's just been a slower process. Denied the healthcare they are owed thru the negoiations with the state and big oil, and all that money sets right under Palins fingertips.
Is it any wonder that he chose her? MONEY..AND OIL WILL FEED THE WAR AND CORPORATE POWER.

The best way to disempower oil companies is for everyone to not need them. After the pipeline has been cancelled we must do more.
