Coming Soon to a Neighborhood Near You: The New & Improved FBI

US Politics & Gov't  (tags: FBI, Justic Department, Mukasey, domestic surveillance, intimidation )

RC
- 460 days ago - washingtonpost.com
The FBI will have broad new powers beginning October 1 once Mukasey gives the nod. In the name of preventing "terrorist strikes" agents will LEGALLY be allowed to become more intrusive than ever. READ this to see how. Regierung kennt Bestes!

Besides allowing surveillance and warrantless interviewing of American citizens without prior approval of bureau supervisors, agents will also be able to grill friends, family & colleagues of "persons of interest" and use informants freely without supervision

Electronic monitoring of conversations between informants and those under investigation will be able to be conducted without the now-required permission of an assistant U.S. attorney.

Also on the table: Expanding the scope of FBI activities in responding to "civil disorder."

Quote from the article:
"It is an extraordinarily broad grant of power to an agency that has not proven it uses its power in an appropriate manner," said Michael German, policy counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union.

In other words, friends, sie haben die Sturm-Soldaten gelöst.

We're all fighting about worthless cookie-cutter candidates and our freedom is being siphoned off in front of our eyes. I can only imagine what we're NOT being told!

Cate these are great improvements for your own security! You should thank your government for this extra protection against the evil forces! Only if the FBI can do their work they can protect you from Aliens, Muslims, Nazis, Oil Companies, Multinationals, corrupt politicians and so on! I think this is great news if the government realy protects innocent citizens!
This will never be used against you.....so do not worry, this is only against the bad guys!

This is in line with that new incarnation of McCarthy's Un-American Activities Committee, which went through Congress not too long ago. I think it's called something like the "Domestic Anti-Terrorism Act". This is one of the many reasons I feel betrayed by the Democrats. There are so few people in Congress watching out for us.
Of course any annoying activist or journalist will be fair game, but "eco-terrorists" and animal activists are thought to be among the prime targets.
The police brutality at the conventions, barely covered in the mainsteam media, is more than a clue as to what is happening here.

I just double-checked on my assertions. Again, I thought I heard on an Indy radio program that it went through. Truth is, I'm having trouble keeping track of the status on all this sneaky stuff. It's not as if I can keep up by checking the news ! I would LOVE to be wrong. This is the bill I was talking about:

Thanks Cate, so glad your back my friend. This is noted.

Unfortunately these type things have been going for years without our knowledge, they are just making it public news now. The govt. keeps lots of secrets in their bags until they are ready to pull them out.

Peace be with us all,

And you thought all these CCTV cameras were there to stop crime. In the UK there are now so many CCTV Cameras up in cities and little towns that we can all become stars of the small screen and never know it. When did we become this suspicious? When did the dubious practices of politians become worth protecting...or is it covering up.

Big Brother you say....no kin of mine...yours?

Big Brother "forgets" who it is they're SUPPOSED to be working for, and "we the people" have sat back and allowed that to happen. There is nothing more deadly than apathy, folks!

Noted. As the erosion of our rights accelerates, it becomes MORE difficult for me to try to point this out to family and friends...they are now persuaded that I am paranoid and delusional. What will it take, I wonder, for them to be shaken awake? It isn't that these incursions are subtle, after all? Thank you for another important story, my friend.

I agree with Free spirit. Big Brother is always watching and has been for years. The McCarthy era is and has always been alive and well. Democracy is a cover up to make all of us Americans feel good about our country and its leaders. I LOVE MY COUNTRY! I HATE THIS LEADERSHIP!

Yes, animal rights activits organizations are often considered "terrorist" organizations. U.S. Military get security briefs against PETA and GreenPeace for the past few years calling them terrorists. And many conservatives have openly stated that they believe liberals are anti-american. Then there is Senator Coburn and Oklahoma Representative Sally Kern who both push the idea that gays and lesbians are the biggest threat to American Liberty. So are these the type people that will be targets of this new and improved FBI???

Well, if they were watching me today I hope they didn't get too bored watching my fat behind bent over in the flower beds. Too much living to do to waste time watching what everyone else is up to. That must be why the government thinks they have to do it - at least it employs a few people. I suppose we should be glad that they are working at something instead of making the unemployment lines longer. Anyhoo.....have a great day every day and enjoy life to it's fullest.

To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonoured. That is government; that is it's justice; that is it's morality."

If you had a REAL opposition working for the voters, this would be an ideal issue to add to the vast list of things to change when they got into power....but I am getting the impression very strongly, that there is VERY little difference in your 2 major parties. I watch the comments from the "believers" of "their" party, and your going to be shafted, no matter who gets in......

When will anyone learn it doesnt matter who says what or which way to go, because in the end its them at the top who is doing all this.

The number 1 threat to them is the ALF. Anyone who does not shut up about animal exploitation and takes a stand is a threat to them and more than anyone on here knows.

With human rights alone they can overcome this as they did last time. You have to think why the authorities are so concerened with animal rights activists. Why they go to such extreme measures towards those that stand completely against the use of animals.

Some will not agree with what Im saying here but without the use of animals people will not get sick because then people would not eat the animals in the first place, the pharmaceutical industry then cannot profit from it and then of course people would not even by from farmers or their produce of or from animals. It also goes further into detail and goes into peoples way of life, their beliefs and also their religions.

Human rights alone means sod all in this if you far enough into it. You getside tracked with money issues or rights to object to certain authoritarians.

The fact is animal rights is human rights, it is the right to know the truth of why people are denied the right to oppose animal exploitation, the right to know why people are diseased yet are not told why they are really diseased.

It does not matter which way you look at it, they have taken humanity away from its true past, the tie to nature is cut, lost forgotten. Thats what they wanted. All they are doing now is rearanging the system for easier handling.

They just need to find a way to get rid of their problems and by that I mean the ALF the ELF the vegan society and all those out there who are only just learning all this.

They want to take every possible chance for us all to stop them. Never vote, never donate to organisations, never believe in animal welfare (because thats one of their big tricks as well as$ those laws). Never believe a damn word any of any polititions, governments, or any authoritarian figure or organisation says.

Dont bother thinking theres a way to petition or complain to them because by now everyone has had enough hints that these techniques do not work.

They run the system, they always have. How can anyone beat the system if they are part of it? You cannot. Youve got to get rid of it completely but how do all the people in all the world just get up and say no more to any form of government?

You cannot just get rid of one because that is easily replaced by another.

People need to realize why people go vegan, people need to understand why fighting is what the SCUM want, people need to realize both human and animal rights are indeed interlinked.

If humanity can reestablish this then we can all get rid of the SCUM. They are non empaths, deviod of kindness and cannot be beaten by resorting to their level. They are the true darkness, the true meaning of evil resides in them. The people are like their slaves and noone even knows it.

What was a human society is now a robot society. Only the few know what they are capable of, only the few understand its not all hopeless. And it is up to those that know to show the other people, the less fortunate that they need to wake up big time.

Either humanity heals through one another or the dark ones reign supreme and all life loses.

Remember Putin is a friend of Bush. If McCain saw KGB in Putin's eyes why did he not tell his Buddy G.W.Bush what he saw way back when. Remember when George H.W.Bush told George W. Bush. You have to know when to with draw as he looked deep into GWB eyes I did not and look what I got.

Freedom and Privacy, Please!

If there really is a list of 8 million people to be rounded up(practice roundup at DNC, 3,000 peeps) some of us may meet in person. I'll tattoo Care2 on my forehead so you can find me. I'm using humor to hide the sad state Freedom in America is at.

I'm worrying less about these types of things now. I think much bigger World changes will stop the madness of "Governments". I hope so!

Friends believe it or not they have been doing this for several years started with google and yahoo giving the Homeland info on users and searches and mail. now all internet providers are required to make a port specially for the law to go direct into their servers and account info. also Comcast and 2 other huge internet providors are going to limit the sites you can surf a month they cant get the 2nd ammendment so they go around it by limiting you internet useage get ready things are going to change big time by end of year. I am riding out the hurricane in Texas now so need to get off net. ps to all who dont know a big radio host Alex Jones told that Care @2 com is highly watched due to petitions and anything they may deem as terrorists lol. Sue we have oppinionated people here but that type thinking is soon illegal. Big Brother would turn over in his grave chris

Thanks Cate: We have lost so much of our constition already under Bush and his gang, and they don't even have to follow the laws of the land. It's almost like a dictatorship. If we don't stop it now, the thought is scary.
Obama is the only one right now who can accomplish this. McBush and his sidekick will only make things worse. We need to get out the vote this November and start to take our country back.

I just moved to the Chicago area in June. I signed up with Comcast...it was that or, I thought, nothing, because I thot ATT had only a dish. I'm soon switching.

Every phone call I have made since signing up, I've heard noises as if I were on a party-line. Remember those? Your neighbor could pick up the phone and listen to your entire conversation? I hear people hanging up the phone about 5 minutes into my long distance calls. Every call. I recently found out how many calls are bundled together .. . . it's so easy to disguise someone listening in. And this jack device they advertise on TV that plugs into your computer . . . they have been advertising it since at least the early 1990's. It would put your phone conversation into the air so anyone driving by would be able to listen.

Actually, listening is easy anyway. My concern is that people are PAID to listen to so many things . . . . and that's MY hard earned money!!!!
