I love Judge Sullivan! His ruling that snowmobiles add noise, pollution and damage to what the park service is charged to protect and conserve is wise, visionary and environmentally sound. But snowmobiling enthusiasts have promised to fight the ruling and are determined to have it overturned.

Snowmobiles traumatize the animals in the forests. Most people scoff at that, saying the animals just run away. Not true. Can you imagine being scared out of your wits by the noise, vibration, sounds of these things? They destroy the tranquility for people who enjoy the beauty of silence. Animals get crushed and hurt by the machines also.

I must admit i also love snow mobilling but since it is the only way of transport on Spitsbergen i did not even feel bad about it. Did it once for one expedition in 2000!
you have no other choice if you want to visit the Polar bears at the eastcoast of Svalbard!
But it is increasing on Svalbard to and the chance that you can spot polar bears is small if you are somewhere near the snowmobile highways.......it should be restricted everywhere!

its good that it is restricted only professionals should be able to use snowmobiles!

Mr Palin does not only love it, he is the world champion!
I am sure that if $arah makes it you will be able to enjoy
riding a snow mobile in all the parks! Dont forget your guns and rifles!

noted. Snowboarding in national parks is, in my opinion, something we do not want to take place for all of the excellent reasons stated above. These areas should remain as natural and pristine as possible. Let's hear it for Judge Sullivan and let's do keep a watchful eye on this. Thank you, Ms. deWinter!

Noted, thanks Cate. This case has taken quite some time to reach the federal courts, and it was the right decision by Judge Sullivan, but BusCo may appeal his decision to the court of appeals where his cronies are seated. I doubt we have heard the last of snowmobiles in Yellowstone.

McShame has a new ad out accusing Obama of sending 30 lawyers to Alaska to dig up dirt on Palin. The ad is a video from Fact Check. org and shows Wolves running through the woods. What a couple of dirt bags they are.

They do not belong in the national parks. In our area we have some country
roads that they are allowed to ride on. Some people that ride them do not
respect the land though and have been known to take off across a field and
ruin a good crop of winter wheat. People who don't have any farming knowledge don't seem to understand that sometimes there is a crop growing
beneath the snow and you should not be driving across it. Also have had a
few riders who don't stay away from the booze and get loud and distructive
during the wee hours of the morning. Snowmobile riding is a lot of fun, but
it is like everything else in this world - a few bad actions can ruin it
for everyone. If you go out be responsible and be safe.

Many times the animals run. In winter when they are foraging for food in high snow,
this depletes fat stores and can mean the difference between life and death for many.

Good ruling, will probably be fought. Those of us that love and live near Yellowstone
and Teton Park are anticipating another fight but we also do not plan on giving up.

I gave Luna away the one from the news paper. Next day the lady couldn't taken the crying she had all night until I show up Luna stop look at me, said Eveeeelyn that was it took her back home. Reason to give her up i was afraid what would she do with the babies at home. so she stop yelling. until the babies is gone. then luna started to do a number to get attention cried help me who ever knock on the door. At the time i was out, while two couple wanted information but heard a cried like a woman and they call 911
then officer came ambulance came and k9 also came with animal control..
the officer heard the cried then action...door is fix people by owner.

they forgot POACHING. a Denali (Alaska) forest ranger said in the winter the biggest danger to the animals are poachers on snowmobiles. you can get back further in the woods (summer time ground muckier and full of brush) over snow in the winter. Major factor too is that snowmobiles can carry out bear, wolves, and other game whose pelts bring big bucks. for hunters, deer, elk, and moose are easier to carry out in snowmobiles versus hiking out.

Great first step.. but do you think that Bush will actually do as the Judge says.. he seems to be unlawful in alot of ways..& when Bush wants something BAD enough he goes for it till he gets it.. even if its around the Judge.. snowmobiles don't belong in parks anyhow.. don't like them or 4-wheelers... they run the critters .. & its not right..we have 7 acres here & we don't allow 4 wheelers or snowmobiles in our woods.. I have to many (wild) friends & they aren't gonna be scared .. they know my land is a safe place & thats the way its gonna stay..

I have the greatest admiration for Judge Sullivan! It take courage to stand up to 'Bushco'!

Snowmobiles are devastating to animals and the environment! Of course, snowmobile fanatics couldn't care less about the animals, noise, air pollution and global warming they cause.

- Live for the moment and to heck with the consequences. These are the same folks who would be the first to complain when the pollution problem becomes irreversible.

Hooray, Judge !!!!! I had 2 snowmobiles and then realized how horrible they were for the environment so got rid of them. See, we can change. there is hope. I hope they ultimately ban them entirely. It is just too devestating to the animals. Noise, pollution, fear and maybe even hunters chasing animals from snowmobiles like Sarah with her airplanes shooting wolves. God bless the animals. I am PRO LIFE only for animals. Global Cooling for polar bears!

Snowmobiles in parks are like jetboats on lakes: noisy, noxious and dangerous to wildlife.

What is the purpose of a park, anyway?

Animal habitat
Preserved habitat for humans to see - AS IS

None of that includes snowmobiles or 4-wheel drive vehicles or ATVs or anything else in there making noise, spewing pollution and tearing up the land or disturbing the animals and other park patrons who are there to see natural habitat and animals!
