""We've been working on this a long time. We've still got more to do to finalize it, but I think we're there. So far, so good," beamed Henry Paulson. Good for whom?

Even those legislators opposed to rushing in without allowing the financial markets a chance to normalize believe the bailout bill will be approved by Congress. Several compromises in the bill have been reached, but in the end, our government is still rewarding fiscal irresponsibility - and possibly fraud - with a $700B safety net. Of course, this administration of vultures has made fiscal irresponsibility, fraud and lying to the people hallmarks of its rule, so I'm not surprised - are you?

If Paulson is "beaming", I'm nervous, very, very nervous.
"Vultures", Cate ? Sounds good, although vultures are only scavengers doing their job. I can think of a better word that starts with "V" - VAMPIRES ! Money hungry, blood-sucking vampires bailing out their fellow vampires. And, no I'm NOT surprised.

Noted with absolute anger. Those people ARE NOT smarter than a 5th grader, just very selfish and greedy. Thanks Cate for sharing!

Oh so true -Nancy -not smarter than a 5th grader possibly dumb as a box of rocks, shortsighted, greedy, useless, self centered, narrow minded, muleheaded, selfish, egotistical tyrant wannabes!
Vampires Pamylle is a wonderful description as well -Fire them all-they are incompetent and certainly do not represent the people just themselves and those that have money in the mistaken belief/propaganda that those with the money insure that we the little people need them so that we can have jobs and our economy can grow so that is why they are getting a slap on the wrist and money in their pockets.I am begging ya'll take their money away the best you know how or nothing changes-we are 9 million people on care2 we can and do make a difference in this world by ourselves and collectively. Even I with as little financial resources as I have have taken mine and removed as much as I can from big business ect.all they have done is delay the inevitable with this bailout and gave us the bill-I am not paying it in any way that I can and I am not supporting those vampires who did this. I will be researching these companies ,banks, financial institutions and the other businesses under that corporate umbrella and I will not give them one dime if I can help it.Join me in the boycott please.
Thanx 4 the post.

I'd have to say that a happy Henry Paulson
equals a screwed American populace.
Everyone in that pic up there is smiling
like the cat that swallowed the canary,
while we are ALL headed for hyper-inflation
if this moronic bailout goes thru.
May you live in interesting times.
Thanks, Ombretta.......I think.

Yet again the taxpayer is prompted to bend over. What a load of bull. Is it time yet for a new revolution?

Good analogies Pamylle and Tim. James perhaps this is why majority of citzens complain of back pain...that constant bending over starts to wear out the joints...that and having to work several jobs to just try and pay for SOME of the basics needs of life..shelter, food, utilities.
Start noticing people by what shoes they are wearing...shortly we will all be walking bent over and shoes the most visable connection to who we are passing by....

Yep, I believe we're still going to stuck holiding the tab on this bailout gors trhrough. Yeah they said the want the taxpayers to be paid a sum of money if the proposed plan starts earing money in the long run, but that doesn't make it so. The part I did not like with the agreement that they have tentatively reached is waiting for the next pesident to request the reaminder of the proposed money that is going to be paid out over time. That should have been an automatic inclusion in the talks. What I liked best about the deal is that some hardline Republicans are apposes to any bailout at all. I have seen this occur in a very long time. As a rule House Republicans are all for sticking it to the taxpayer. But like everyone else here, a smile on Paulsons face could spell doom for the rest of us. A scum bag of the highest order.

When it all goes under watch and see how many of these sorry, piss-poor excuses for Reps/Senators and reptile-bellied cronies like Paulson bail with their millions to undisclosed islands and countries with no extradition. Bastards!!!!

They have been working on this a long time-just trying to figure out the best way to screw the American public and then tell us that it is in our best interest. As any good farmer knows-when the manure piles too high in
the barn sombody needs to shovel it out and get the mess cleaned up.

noted. This just makes me livid. I have called and called and have signed every petition I could locate, knowing all the while that the legislation was, of course, going to go through...and that it woud bring with it a disasterous economic future. Of course, should be decide to seriously protest this action...lol, what? actually protest? US?...we will arrested and incarcerated by the army that we pay. Now that is the shaft of all shafts. Thank you for this story, however unpleasant it is.

Dear Estella they are not just screwing the American people that is for sure this has been planned by the US government its a open discussion in Holland since friday! Very good economic specialists are sure that this has all been planned! And they screw the whole world
with a worthless dollar to pay bag debts a dollar that will than be replaced by the AMERO!
And it will all be happening in the next 2 years....first the the hyperinflation and than the AMERO as the best sollution for the dollar crisis.... And who will benefit from all that??????
Just the people who have set this all up....

Once again, EVERYONE on this thread needs to read the following two pieces.

Goldman Sachs, Hank Paulson's "former" employer and the Booosh family stand to make billions off this "bail out". Of particular interest to me is the timing of the GS purchase of Litton, a "loan servicing" firm based in (surprise, surprise) Texas.

Are we angry enough yet? Apparently not. I don't see any crowds outside the House or the Senate Building.

What happened to the gold in Fort Knox? It does not have to cost anything. Just hand everyone about $400,000 in gold or silver and the economy will be great.. Ignore the corporations. Who needs them if everyone gets a big pile of gold or silver? That gold and silver is ours after all, right?

With $700 billion dollars being circulated the has to be at least 700 ways to to pad some pockets.
Greed will certainly host this bail out, not counting the waste being involved as usual.

They're pissing & moaning on TV about partisanship....so it's all adolescent rejection, nothing to do with character or the bill itself.

Now is your chance to tell your represnetative in Congress what you think! Congresspeople are going home until Thursday. Call, email, let them know we want:

*Accountability of funds disbursed under any bill - in writing, and throughout the entire process of disbursement
*Public hearings OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, including testimony from politically-unaffiliated economists, bankers, labor leaders, mortgage lenders and everyday citizens on the best way to handle the economic mess that the bigwigs have created
*NO fox guarding the henhouse - NO seat for the Treasury Secretary on the "oversight board"
*Consideration and discussion of insured loans to banks instead of outright cash, so they have breathing room to begin lending again - and a provision in the loans that ensures they will be used to jump-start American markets and labor and NOT to compensate high-ranking employees

Hans my good friend - If we are to go on the "Amero", what are we to use to back these new bills??

I know the quick answer is - it never stopped us before, but really.................

Marjorie M. (81)
Monday September 29, 2008, 8:35 pm
Berry, what do you think is backing the US Greenbacks?? Other than confidence and thin air!

Barry Seth (118)
Monday September 29, 2008, 9:30 pm

Marjorie - Currently our money is backed by oil. The dollar is currently the currency of choice to buy oil. However, the Arab states have been campaigning for a couple of years to change from the dollar to the euro.

Also, the Chinese no longer want to accept the dollar for payment of goods shipped to the US. They are raising prices too.

Hence my question - what will we use to back the new Amero? Get it?

About a year ago I remember that the Chinese wanted to trade out about 3,000,000,000: three trillion of our $$'s but no one wanted them. This has all been planned....Greedy Bastards! Sometimes things don't go as planned....The American People are sick of the lies. And I am sick of Made in China!! Killing us Softly and not so Softly in So Many Ways....The Photo says ever so much about FAT CAT Politicians.
