"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -- Thomas Jefferson

Ah, now onto retirement. Billions in profit await George and his buddies, without so much as a slap on the hand or pinch of the pocketbook. Thanks, Congress, for being accomplices in this robbery of the American people.

Congresscritters really stabbed the US citizens despite the outrage.

Will someone help pull the knives out of my back...

What is going on that these people can continue to take take take! Why not a whopping stimulus check to all taxpaying citizens 18 and older with a cap at say $80,000??? Seems to me that would stimulate the economy, not help billinaire CEO's that stole from people making them believe they can afford what they really can't. And all by something called 'Predatory Lending'. I think they should all be in prison and/or pay back a huge amount of $$$$

Nothing new here, Lars. They've been raping and stabbing us in the back all along...we just didn't know it. And Congress has never listened to us. If it seems they once did, it's only because our desires happened to be in line with theirs.

We know our letters, emails and calls reached them in these past few days because they were frustrated and shut down their systems so we couldn't get through.

We are now all on the same page: There is no Santa Claus, there is no Easter Rabbit and the Tooth Fairy flew away long ago with Cinderella's Prince. The only ones who can rescue us at this point is ourselves.

It's time to wake up and smell the stench...

Bend over and grab your ankles. One more reason, in a very long list to vote the bums out. We need to have very long memories and make sure our children understand; not everyone was stupid enough to allow this crap to happen. I'm not sure, it might be too late, but we need to channel the spirits of the 60's. We need strong and passionate leaders to take this country back.

New Rome Is Burning and the Barbarians are not at the gates, they are in the Senate House! (And the House of Congress, the Treasury, the Fed Reserve Building and the White House). The Usurper smirks while the country falls. He did it not with fire while playing a lyre, he did it with the stroke of a pen.

We are no longer the Free Citizens of New Rome, my peeps, we are now slaves soon to be auctioned off to the highest bidders while the Barbarians party in their marble mansions or fly off to their gated strongholds in foreign lands (does Paraguay ring a bell for you?). Do you hear their laughter?

The Empire of Old Rome took 500 years to fall, New Rome fell in less than 50. Remember this day when you tell your grandchildren of what it was like to live in the greatest Republic, if not the greatest EMPIRE, the world had ever known. Remember who it was that destroyed it. Remember who it was that ALLOWED (complicit in) it to happen. Remember who did not heed the voice of the people. And most of all remember this: our nation was sold for 700 billion pieces of silver.

Actually, ransomed: 'There would be martial law in America if we voted no.' --Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif., 27th District) says Congress threatened with Martial Law if bill is not passed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaG9d_4zij8

A nation cannot be conquered from without until it has corrupted itself from within -- Durant.

We're there. A storm is coming, get ready for it.

Marion, recently I attended a meeting where we were told you have underground Cities and extensive tunnel systems in (under) Australia....with populations of up to 3500, in one area....maybe more are headed this way. Mind you, most of our sheeple haven't got a clue, wouldn't believe, or are apathetic....we have a good example of where apathy leads eh?????

Don't worry it is only the begining off the end. Wait till it realy gets nasty. You knew it was going to pass, it was only who got paid off in congress, that was the delay and for it to look like it they really gave a crap about us.

I hope this helps the rest of us by allowing us to keep our jobs. I want people in office who care more about the needs of the "common" person and those in poverty than some big corporation.

Now I think we can use another bailout-one for people who still owe on their mortgages and who are losing their homes because of this.

Marion...loved your quote for Diderot. We help up on our end that's all I know ...everyone sent their emails, calls, telling them NO...we are the voices of our freedoms/rights...chicken shits ( at least the majority) were only worried about their buddies, lobbists, their pensions/401K's...If they had all had to return to their prospective state and place their vote there....they would have seen our massives numbers and heard our voices...instead of gathering in their "bomb shelter" building safe from any fallout and they cast their votes againest the will of the people
Time to bow to the porcelain goddess and flush...

Terrie..., I love your replies...heh. Okay, so let's not hand over our souls to these beasts. Okay get pissed off, release the shit, and get back on the horse, (literally...lol) forget affording cars, gas, insurance. It is all about the domino affect, now. Simplify, simplify, simplify. Tend your gardens and KNOW your water...

Grab your surf-boards and ride the waves my wonderful brothers and sisters..., because there is an new world awaiting us..., and it is NOT the end...There is something..beautiful happening in all of us, right now. However, one must let go of the negative lower frequency vibrations within..., so one can start to "feel" the Truth. Don't let these beasts dim out your Light, too. Here in the UK, the news of the bailout has dominated this past week. In all the news reports I heard, the newscaster was dismissive of the bill not passing, almost to the point of chiding the Senate and House. Not once was it reported that the bill was not in the citizens favour, nor did I see anything about the 'pork' added to the bill. It was almost like those reporting expected the taxpayers to roll over and let this bill pass; thereby saving the UK and Europe from the effects of the meltdown. I'm left wondering if citizens of EU countries would have rolled over as Americans were expected to?

I'm sure I'll draw the ire of Care2 members in the EU for my comments Marian, but it does make me wonder if presented with the same, if citizens of the EU would see 'the greater good' in passing such a bill.
Thanx Cate for providing the forum to express my opinion and Marian for your reply.

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
Wife
And you may ask yourself-well...how did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the moneys gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the moneys gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the moneys gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!...what have I done?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the moneys gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Mac the Knife: Cut the Needy to Feed the Greedy, Again they gave to the Rich !:-( and left us in the quick sand. to survive or die !

The issues are pretty clear. The Bush years and the last three decades of ultra-right corporate rule have been devastating. Ordinary people canít survive in the present economic climate. Gas and food prices, foreclosures, layoffs, school closings and out-of-reach health care are all coming down hard on working-class families, with no letup in sight. Voteing some times I have to wonder ?

This crash has been engineered by the global elite just like the crash of '29 was engineered. It's called redistributing the wealth to the TOP. THey crash the economy, crash housing prices, crash banks and then they, the global elite 'banksters' at the top, buy up everything for pennies on the dollar. They have also crashed the dollar and everything else to do what they do best, problem, reaction, solution. they create the problem, we the people demand a solution and then they give us the solution THEY WANTED from the beginning and THEY pretend like they are being the saviors. It's all a huge fraud. It requires a painful education and much research, but the truth is out there. It is we the people who have the power. They only have whatever power we allow them to have. We must come to realize we have the power not THEM. They are terrified of our power, that's why they have to use fear mongering and propaganda.........to convince us we are not powerful. We jut have to realize and accept that it is we who have the power and never forget it no matter what they try to tell us.

Kids wooden arrows? Rum? Race Cars? WHAT???? Alice, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter.
Makes a strong point.
This rewrite was for theatrics only. When they could have added emergency relief of, foreclosures, jobs, health care, returning CEO paychecks past year,
...........I mean jimminy cricket........
I thought this bill was about; economy, crisis, return & enforce the glass-stegall act, etc...
So many helpful and wise additions should/could have been prioritized.

Provisions that prohibit a bank holding company from owning other financial companies were repealed on November 12, 1999, by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, signed by nonother than Clinton.

This protection is genius:
The second Glass-Steagall Act, passed on 16 June 1933, and officially named the Banking Act of 1933, introduced the separation of bank types according to their business (commercial and investment banking), and it founded the Federal Deposit Insurance Company for insuring bank deposits.[citation needed]

Now we have Bank of America buying/taking on, Merril-Lynch.
This should be the last thing permitted when attempting to restore a stable economy.
This is purely insanity.
