Monsanto, the company which spent an astounding eight million dollars last year on lobbying, is planning to flood the food market with poor quality omega 3 oils from its genetically modified (GM) soy beans.

Monsanto, which is trying to control the world's farming market and infect nature with its genetically modified seeds, plans to sell its omega 3 frankenfood to processed food companies. The food companies will then claim that their frozen dinners and microwave meals are healthy because they contain omega 3 oils.

Yet you can bet your bottom dollar that the packaging on these TV dinners won't reveal that the omega 3 oils are from GM soy. If you've missed the headlines, you can learn why GM-food has a suspicious history and why these food ingredients are considered unhealthy.

More astoundingly, is the timing of this press release from Monsanto. Just last week, a poorly designed study doubting the benefits of omega 3 oils from fish somehow passed the peer review process and was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. What's the connection?

One of the authors involved in that study denouncing the effectiveness of omega 3 oils from fish was Dr. William Harris, who is a scientific advisor for Monsanto. So here we have someone who is represented as a scientist, and is an advisor for a:

* GM-food producing company (Monsanto);
* GlaxoSmithKline (pharmaceutical company);
* The processed food company Unilever who sells GM food;
* his own business which analyzes the quality of omega 3 oils.

Now this is scary! Not the omega three's noooooooo!!!!!! We have to stop this evil empire. They are taking over the world. You can get omega three from crushed flax seeds. That is what I use but just give them time they 'll get those too. Geez
Thanks Karen

I agree with Tierney. This is terrifying news. Monsanto wants to control the food supplies of the world without caring about basic nutrition and what happens to our bodies. Thank you Karen for this news. It clearly is appropriate for Halloween because it is really scary stuff.

If I had children that I was going to send out trick or treating this year, I would send them out as medical staff and make sure they were wearing N-95 surgical masks..........kidding......not sure that would be defense enough but it would be a start.

Anyone interested in health would not be caught dead eating microwavable
and frozen foods, where they say Omega 3, or not. Omega 3, whether genetically modified or not, cannot keep its stability and integrity through the microwave process. If you are interested in health, make sure you get enough wild salmon, not farm raised, and get some mercury-free Omega 3 fish oil capsules. Write your legislators often about your displease that GM foods are not labeled as such. I don't care if people eat GM foods, if they are so stupid to make that choice. But they should know about it through labeling.

This is really exhausting.. Studies soon will show that the only "safe" foods are fast foods. Especially those that are deep fried in rancid fat and full of corn syrup,

Thanks all for your comments......I don't get why it is that we seem to know something is amiss with these frankenfoods but the rest of the world doesn't give a ratzass! It's no big secret that Monsanto is motivated by profit and the desire to keep their stock price up.

Thanks for the suggestion Serge. Maybe a daily call wouldn't impact Monsanto's thick skin too much, but it might make me feel better to spout.

The only thing about crushed flax seeds is that the nutritional value dissipates so quickly, you have to use them right away. Basically all those boxes sitting on the shelves w/ flax, or flax capsules on shelves, useless. Maybe the refrigerated Barleans, flax oil lasts a little longer.

We will have to hold them accountable for our health bills once we all succumb to their poisoning... as Edward mentioned.. we don't want their monopoly.. we want a choice from other sources...

These idiots need to be stopped in their tracks. They do not give a damned about feeding people, all they care about is their bottom line. Money of course, ruling over people's health. There are things I believe are good when it comes to genetically doing scientists work, research on health conditions etc. But, genetically altering seeds, and food products to lie about their nutritional value is NOT warranted! Monsanto has got to have lobbyists and they have some of our Senators in their hip pockets. Now is the time to stop their antics, and raise crops like they should be, not altered in any way.

Why exactly do you consider GMO any more risky than food produced by random genetic changes ?
nature has been mutating genes for as long as ther have been genes.

To Carl Nielson: This is the argument that pro GMO people use. Nature's role in mutating genes is so gradual. It is part of the evolutionary process, even though some religious people and Republican presidential candidates do not believe in evolution. Life on earth can get used to slow, gradual changes over billions of years. What is healthy for life are the foods that life evolved with. When you add a basic, genetic change overnight, that is not good for health.

Carl....you will find an answer to your question here: The Health Risks of GM Foods: Summary and Debate. That's just for starters. Other interesting reads - Corrupt to the Core - Memoirs of a Health Canada Scientist by Dr. Shiv Chopra. s and Seeds of Deception by Jeffrey M Smith.

Karen S. Since you referred Carl to other sources, does that mean you do not agree with my explanation to him? If you don't, then instead of having him look for an answer elsewhere, which means that everyone else would have to go to those sources as well, why don't you just give a simple answer to his question, which was a very good one? Many people ask the question that Carl asked. Now they all have to go to all your three sources for an answer to a simple question.

Not at all Stuart. I agree with your statement whole heartedly. And that being said, and maybe I should have indicated it in my previous post, the resources I have pointed to more than adequatly back up your answer. I hope I haven't offended.

No problem, Karen. No offense taken. Glad you clarified. Keep up the good work! I have been fighting GMO and lack of labeling disclosure for many years.
