A Racehorse Brings Joy to a Disabled Child

Animals  (tags: humans, horses )

Timmy's mother, Grace Mahoney Summers, couldn't believe her son was able to control his arm movement enough to touch the animal, and she was further astounded by the horse's tenderness.

It is good to emphasize the mysterious way in which recognition and relationship with some animal individuals can bring out that which is healthy in those often regraded as extremely developmentally disabled.

Some cultures had discovered this in the distant past, as it leads to a fulfilled life instead of a disabled one. This is not to say that attempts at breeding animals for human purposes is at all ethical; such breeding cause what would and should be recognized as grave disabilities through human breeding practices.

Yet individuality and its sacrosanct uniqueness in all universe and time is a very important concept and experience, worthy of your attention throughout your own life.

Thanx for the tender story Jill. So glad Teddy came home with Timmy. Animals have always meant love, companionship, caring, and compassion for the members of our family. I remember, as a small child, caring for abandoned birds and bunnies in my back yard...
