They say that the 4 elephants arrived at the end of November 2012. Two went to Taiyuan Zoo, one of which has subsequently died. The other two reportedly went to Xinjiang Tianshan Safari Park.

So sad, but thanks for the update.

Here in Seattle we have been making progress, and recently with help from the media have made the plight of our 3 zoo elephants quite the cause..much more than our protests were ever able to reach
Hopefully when all is said and done they will finally get to go to sanctuary in TN. Hopefully soon ;-)

Why do they need to send Elepnats to China anyways. In China they eat every or any moving object. Stop sending any living being to China.

It should be made a worldwide crime for any country to send any animal, dead or alive, to china or other destinations and also a crime for china and other destinations to import animals dead or alive, which have appalling attitudes and histories of mistreatment and atrocities against animals.

And the committing of such a crime should have draconian consequences

If elephants were meant to have been in China God would have had them there in the first place, elephants needs to stay with their group in the country they were born in! So sad a life was lost because of human interference! Thanks Jill for keeping us informed.

So sad -no animals should be sent to China -the hell hole for -all animals-elephants as we know are very sociable and very famly orientated animals -they will die from lonliness and neglect, those responsible for this tradgedy- shame on you ,all effort must be made to bring them back home and stop any more being exported.

This is terrible news. We have to stop these elephants from ever stepping on that hell hole which is China. Heartbreaking to see that poor elephant looking so sad in that terrible place. We need to get this elephant out of China.

Truly a death sentence for these poor elephants. Just babies. They belong back with their mothers in Africa. What the hell were people thinking, sending them to these places. The little one left by itself now looks just miserable. Breaks my heart to see.

It's official GREED KILLS
between the poachers, and the zoos and circuses
what hope can we have when uncaring, greedy people manipulate our precious few mammals at their own whim and for their own lust for money....tragic that 4 elephants had to die to prove this.
There should be an international embargo on taking animals away from their country of origin,or before they are fully grown ....what a TRAVESTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
