WHY would they send these baby elephants to a country that allows it's citizens to throw snowballs at lions?

Whether the export was "above board" or not, or whether the african elephant is endangered or not is not the point; the point is you wouldn't send your baby to China, would you? You wouldn't send you worst enemy to China, would you? They seem to have conveniently forgotten China's abuse of animal rights (not to mention human rights as well) What was Zimbabwe thinking? Oh yes, they were thinking about the money, not about those poor babies sent off to a fate worse than death, and all alone without their mothers. I am thoroughly disgusted with all concerned. This is wrong. Thanks Jill.

Anyone in their right mind would not put young baby elephants in harms way especially to China! These babies belong with their mother in their own country! One lost life because of this trauma & not surprisingly! No more of this insanity! Leave babies elephant where they belong with their mothers in their own homeland. Thanks Jill.

Thanks Jill - as Nimue says, it is the money that has got them to do this awful awful thing to these babies.

Noted. This is outrageous! Baby elephants belong with their mothers. Hope that future exportations can be stopped. Truly wish something could be done for these babies. Thanks so much, Jill.

So sad to see these babies separated from their family. This must end. I know not all of the people in Zimbabwe support this. I hope someone in their country will help these elephants now and in the future.

I cant think of a worse place to send these to than China I do hope it can be stopped They should stay with their mothers in the wild or a wildlife park A zoo in China is no life for them Its time we stopped sending animals to zoos to just live a life of pacing up and down They will probably end up in some concrete jungle place if they go
and the Chinese are not known for be kind to animals Hope something can be done

Of course we know why those bastards sell their elephants to China: money. They don't care for the health of those babies: they're only interested in money, money, money. >What if their kids were sold and treated like that?

Jan Garen (86)
Sunday January 20, 2013, 12:42 pm
Money talks - that is why they are sending baby elephants to the biggest poaching nation on the planet.

It's fruitless to try to appeal to abusers sense of morality or conscience.
The term SOCIOPATH, comes to mind.
Punishing them only makes them more aggressively angry towards other living beings.

What's the answer?

Both countries are pretty much soulless. They would sell their mothers for a buck. It's always the animals who suffer the consequences. Sickening.

This must be China's way of showing it's people where their ivory trinkets come from, and just think, in a few years time they will be able to have free ivory. They can cut it from their own elephants because they will have caused the extinction of these magnificent animals in the wild. Evil Bastards

In a previous petition that I signed I had to e-mail several of the Zimbabwe authorities to help stop this export of these babies. I'm beyond disheartened to think of them going to China. Most likely it's the money. It always comes back to that, doesn't it?
I will sign the next petition and the one after that until this is stopped.

Are Cites overlooking all the Elephants that are getting butchered for their ivory tusks that at the rate these poachers are going there will soon be no Elephants left in the wild????

Why are we surprised, appallled, disgusted or any other negative thougfht at what continues to be done in this God Forsaken country. ????? Corruption abounds and is healthy and well in what is laughingly described as a Government, peopled by those whose ONLY goal is to feather their own nests and to hell with the rest of humanity !!! WHY would said Govt. be concerned at the plight of it's wild life when they have NONE for the human beings under their care??? I think this treatment of the Baby Elephants is disgusting, but then, like I said why would Mugabe or his co-horts pay any attention to the opinion of the rest of the world on THIS issue, when he totally ignores the Human cost in his own country.. ????

One good thing about this rapid communication, people are starting to realize what is happening in their own backyards and are speaking up. Good for the activists and get this stopped.

This is pure greediness for the profit & the dollar. Those Barbarians in Zimbabwe will do any harm to anyone if you show the money to them. If any National disaster hits Zimbabwe or any other Problems arose in the future Don't support or give any help to Zimbabwe until they stop this heartless ruthless exporting Baby Elephants to China. This is how the Zimbabwe authorities earn money & profit. Always there are Crooks sitting on the high up on the country's political ladder. Very sad.

It is very tragic that these poor baby elephants have to be the victims of such greed and total indifference to their precious wildlife that the govt. of Zimbabwe has always shown! They have shown that they value money over the welfare and indeed the long term survival of precious wildlife! How tragic and pathetic for these magnificent animals to be in the hands of such unethical people. And Cites should have more power to revoke these exports!
