"Rebel armies funded by poaching across Africa
Profits from the illegal ivory trade are known to fuel terrorist groups like the Lord's Resistance Army, the Janjaweed militia and Al Shabaab. Organized crime syndicates are linking up with them to move the ivory around the world, exploiting turbulent states, porous borders and corrupt officials from sub-Saharan Africa to China, law enforcement officials say. There are concerns that the elephants may get caught up in the war and that rebel forces in Mali might try to go down the same road as the rebel groups above and threaten the extremely vulnerable population."

Protections are needed to save these Elephants NOW! before it is too late.

Ty, Jill.

Noted Tks. Jill.... Everyone needs to ban Ivory from any species... These beautiful creatures need to be saved, anyone even trying to poach should be shot on questions asked... The human race and it's greed for money and what it can get from animals is disgusting... sure makes me at times hate being human...

These humans think nothing of killing one another so why would anyone expect them to care about wild animals?

Hopefully these same people are actually on the cusp of their own personal evolution to the plane of loving compassion.

So much suffering for everyone in that region. I feel for the people, I feel for those poor elephants ( hoping they can survive) hoping even more that when a poacher gets close enough-he is shot on site. I'm so sick of cruelty and greed. TY Jill and Jim..yes, protections are needed.

Before we leave this Earth, we should ask ourselves, what, have we done to make us worthy of existing on this planet.
Believing in god, is what gives some people strength, but, that is not enough, for the rest of us.
Taking care.......of all living creatures, put here by whatever means, each of us deems acceptable, is what we, as humans, are required to do, be it from god or nature.

We have evolved to have larger brains, for whatever reason and VOICEBOXES, which make us appear to be essential for Earth's survival. Nonetheless, other creatures were here long before we arrived on the scene, and will remain after our departure.

We must care forf elephants and all other living beings, as they are a part of us.

Can one person stand up to this and make a difference in the lives of the elephants. It is a human that can to this -- I wish that someone who cared could do something for them.
