Chris, you inspire me. Please know I am concerned for you. I hope I will be able to follow the process of your trial through the link Kathy provided. I am so glad that so far you are enjoying the right to a speedy trial. The system is trying to deny that right to more and more. My fingers will be crossed at least once a day wishing for your legal success.

Here's a link to a news article about Chris' arrest:
Animal-rights activist arrested at gunpoint in Key Largo by Miami officer
An off-duty Miami police officer arrested at gunpoint an animal-rights activist outside a marine-mammal rehabilitation site in Key Largo.

Arnold Christopher Lagergren, 41, also of Miami, is charged with four misdemeanor counts of trespass and vandalism for alleged incidents at the Marine Mammal Conservancy. Police reports describe him as affiliated with the international Animal Liberation Front organization, which advocates "direct action" against animal captivity.
The Marine Mammal Conservancy was founded to treat stranded whales and dolphins and prepare them for return to the wild. However, two pilot whales from a Lower Keys stranding in May were turned over to SeaWorld after experts concluded that neither a calf nor a sickly adult could survive if released.
Javier Ortiz, described in a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office report as an off-duty Miami police sergeant, was volunteering Saturday with the conservancy when he blocked Lagergren’s car and pulled a gun on the suspect. Monroe County Court Judge Regan Ptomey set bonds totaling $30,000 on the four charges, according to court records.

Keep up the good works in exposing the cruelty done by the people in the Sea World.

Sea World does not have a very good track record in maintaining the animals in its cares.

The two pilot whales should have been returned to the ocean.

I am firm believer that Love is an action, and actions speak louder than words, and you have consistently followed that. Unfortunately, you are one in a million, and I hope it's clear how greatly you are admired for all the actions you have taken to protect the lives of animals. What you probably need is more action here, certainly monetarily, but I am afraid you will have to put up with my feeble words. Honestly, I am distressed for you - I cannot lie - but know there are a gazillion people who support you and will try to help you if they can. Thank you Kathy for posting this - that is an action of support and love.

What can I say to you Chris, that hasn't already been said? We love you, we stand beside you, and we are all there with you in spirit. I know many people here don't believe in God, but I do, and I don't believe you are suffering in vain. You are a saint and a living martyr, and you are bringing attention to many issues. You are assured a place in Heaven at God's table.

I have started a candle group, for any that wish to go light a candle for Chris. I had to name it CRIS, because there many so many other Chris one's already going. Sorry that I can't make the link live, so you will have to copy and paste.

It seems to me that people who feel they are doing the right thing wouldn't mind someone taking pictures or recording what they do. Chris is only shining a light on what is being done at some factory farms. I fail to understand how that makes him a criminal. Just because an animal is going to be killed for food does not mean it can be treated in horrible ways first. I agree, Chris, that you are a hero.

Fred Krohn (34)
Tuesday March 6, 2012, 1:54 pm
The Florida legislature should be put under the care of some of those industrial animal factories. While actual trespassing should be banned, visitors should be allowed to photograph anything except military tactical and technology information. In a farm, that means everything.

I/we can give him all of the support that there is. The problem lies with a corrupt political system that is skewed because of special interest groups, unions and organizations. These "factory farms" put pressure on Congressmen/women, judges and all lawmakers, to pass ridiculous laws to protect animal abuse and misuse in their systems. The problem is that no one is protecting the animals and the brave people that are trying to expose the terrible conditions at these "factory farms". If the "factory farms" feel the need to have idiotic laws passed by legislators, that do not have the balls to stand up to them, then it is obvious that they have something that they do not want the public to know or see. Good luck to you, Chris.

After reading this article I had to sit down and write a letter to Senator Jim Norman of Florida and tell him how terribly disappointed I am in him sponsoring such a bill. He should be ashamed of himself and I truly have to question his motives in doing so. I would urge everyone here to do the same. I can't believe the people of Florida would want something like this to happen.......This senator is a moron, plain and simple.

I worked for Tyson Foods, Inc. for close to 10 years. Between 20 and 30 years ago, people—actually employees—would bring in video cameras and tape situations and incidents that occurred during the course of a day. Most of these people were parents and had children that they were concerned for their welfare.

The film footage these people captured helped clean up the poultry industry. Tyson Foods learned to produce healthy, sanitized meat products for the School Lunch System, for Military Contracts, and for the grocery stores throughout the United States.

Some of the video coverage was aired on 60 Minutes. Being exposed for some of its unsanitary practices was a bit shaming for the mega-company, Tyson Foods, Inc.!!!

I do not like the recent legislation being passed throughout the United States. If today’s legislation existed a few decades ago, then, Tyson Foods, Inc. would never have cleaned up its act. At present, poultry production is a lot safer for the consumer. Children are less at risk today than they were two decades ago. Nowadays, Chicken Nuggets are healthier to eat!
