CRUELTY-FREE
John Paul Mitchell Systems is devoted to making the world a better place with CEO John Paul DeJoria working to ensure the company follows earth-friendly policies and strategies. Some of his efforts include:

• Making Paul Mitchell the first hair care company to publicly oppose animal testing.
• Creating aerosol products that meet stringent Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) standards in California.
• Harvesting botanicals without harm to the environment.
• Using giant solar panels to harness the sun’s energy on our awapuhi farm, on the North Shore of Hawaii.

John Paul DeJoria strives to make John Paul Mitchell Systems
an example for other companies to follow. "Corporations can and should change the world for the better. We have the perspective needed to leave the world a better place for our having been here."
– John Paul DeJoria.

Thank you so much for posting this Kathy! It's good to know that there are products that are made with the care that seems to go into these. I'll be switching to this brand.

Noted with thanks Kathy. It is good to know this. I have used Paul Mitchell products before but I didn't know how concerned about the environment the company was until now, thanks.

There are a number of firms that always were cruelty free.....& MANY who abandoned the practice due to public pressure......I DO wish they would make this known IN LARGE PRINT on their products.....as I'm SURE it would not only DOUBLE THE SALE OF THEIR PRODUCTS......BUT ALSO maybe make other firms seriously consider following suit!...good one kathy....thank you!

That's really good. Yet there are so many animal-tested products, that it's hard to believe you can run this without those.
Good initiative from Paul, and tnx for posting Kathy

I am so proud that my daughter works for the Paul Mitchell Company. She is an instructor in one of their schools as well as holding several managerial positions and she says it is an absolutely wonderful company to work for. She has had the opportunity to meet Jean Paul and treasures the picture that was taken of the two of them together.
Noted with thanks Kathy.

Having just spoken to my daughter she asked me to mention that Paul Mitchell's products now include a product line for animals (shampoos, etc) and once again all cruelty free.

"Ali, sadly The Body Shop also sold to another testing giant, L'Oreal. It left me without words."

I was sick when Aveda sold, and same with TBS,Maria.

For those interested Cosmair, who owns L'Oreal, Lamcome, quite a few fragrances,Biotherm, and more, may find this an interesting read.
Just to see how many lines they do own, pretty wide coverage.

As a Licensed cosmetologist (hair dresser) for 24 years now, I can honestly tell you I love Paul Mitchell products. They have numerous products for any type of hair, & hair problems. We need Gail's daughter on here to run the list for everybody with questions about their hair and what which Paul Mitchell product would work best for them. Please support wonderful companies like this one, so the big ones who test on animals can never put them out of business. ALF I have no idea about being vegan, but I remember these people taking a stand for animals when it wasn't the popular thing to do. For that, they stand tall in my book:) Oh, & John Paul Mitchell died in like 1989 so I can safely say he's innocent of being a meat eater:) Just to make you smile, when you go to cosmetology school you must know every nerve, muscle, blood vains, BONES:) I remember us all complaining about we were going to be hair dressers not doctors:)

If there are animal by-products IN the item then it isn't cruelty free. I've never read anywhere that the line doesn't have the same ingredients as the other manufacturers. If not vegan, then NOT cruelty free! But they have made great first steps and for that they deserve praise.

This is great news and certainly, to me, justifies the slightly higher price. Between the anti-cruelty AND the excellent job these products do, it will now be a product I promote. Just wonderful, thank you!

I'm with Jay, I would seek out products with proper labeling! I've used Paul Mitchell in the past, but will now seek them out above other possibilities since I no longer live near a Natural Foods store where many products are advertised well.
Thank you Kathy! And thank you Gail for the info!

What I don't get is how come they can do it & the others we are petitioning to stop there experiments on are doing it.. if one can do it the others can ... do they actually enjoy hurting & maiming & killing these.. this is wonderful news.. & maybe the others will follow suit.. that would be a celabration for us here at care2 :-) thanks Kathy... this is the one good ... maybe we'll have others..
