Six wolves have already died this year as Alaska's aerial hunting program enters its fifth straight year, and state officials hope to kill hundreds of wolves this year. Wyoming and Idaho want to allow aerial hunting of wolves. Urge Congress to act now!

wolves are such beautiful creatures and we humans were the ones who first intruded in their way of living by building all our crap... forcing them to search for food else where and now we are killing them off... i wonder how we would feel if aliens from another world come in and does the same to us... unfortunately we humans don't realize what we do until it is done to us.

The sad fact is that men like to kill. It is said that for the 'real hunter' the ultimate thrill is hunting down and killing a human. I read articles that said men in the West are baiting wolf dens: They take a calf out near the den, brand it and leave it there for the wolves to kill. The smell of the branding makes the wolves believe the calf is badly injured and they will kill it. Then, the men can get permission to kill all the wolves at that den. The wolves have done nothing to harm cattle up to the point that they are baited. Many men just like to kill. That's why they will swerve a car in order to hit an animal on or alongside the road...

We are in an era of change. There is more focus now on Human rights, Animal rights,& Global Change. Why are some people still living in the caveman era. There is no need to kill these beautiful animals, especially for "SPORT", what a horrible so-called sport. STOP END THIS NOW!!!!

It is so wrong to hunt wolves or for that fact any animal from the air. It is like shooting fish in a barrel. They have no place to hide or to have a chance to escape. They are ran until they can't run anymore. Then they are shot. If its not a clean shot the animals suffer intense pain and suffering. Finally these monsters land and finish them off. This is the most disgusting thing I have seen.

These wonderful creatures have been so misunderstood. The hunters & ranchers have over reacted to their losses in life stock & somestimes even blame the wolves for their losses when they should see their own dogs kill life stock. Maybe they shuld add dogs to their list of killing.

These creatures are not ours to kill! These people who are responsible should be ashamed of themselves. I do not see how they can sleep at night with this on their concious. I know who are the real animals in this sutuation. They should be sent to run from us pointing a gun at them from a helicopter to see how frightening and inhumane this really is. These people need to get a grip! Liz from NY

Can you imagine the heart ripping fear that the wolf endures while being chased by an airplane? So loud and threatening, so alien and un-natural... I'd love to stick a bunch of politicians that vote FOR this stuff out on a frozen lake -three feet of snow and take pot shots at them! From a cozy cockpit high above their heads! No less!

These beautful creatures were put on earth for a special reason. They should be left alone to do what they were put here for and that didn't include the sport of hunting them down just for the fun of it. I'd like to put those guys down in the wolves habitats and chase them around and put the fear in them like they do Gods' creatures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been proved in recent research that if you remove the big predators you upset the food chain and some species will breed out of control and destroy the soill quality and create erosion and loss of topsoil. Yellowstone Park is an example of this.

I signed this petition and others over the past few months. The PAW Act is going into the House of Representatives soon......call your congressmen to see if she/he has signed on yet.

Here is the link to Defenders of Wildlife site. You can see what congressmen have already signed the PAW
Act and all other information regarding this.

http://www.defenders.org/programs_and_policy/wildlife_conservation/imperiled_species/wolves/index.php

I went last week to a Defenders of Wildlife event in NJ that was all about aerial gunning of wolves. They had a beautiful arctic wolf ther named Adka. It was amazing. I took pics but I'm having a problem loading them on my Care2 page, if anyone can help me with that please send me an email, otherwise photos can be viewed on MySpace.com/chrissy111707 if you have a myspace account.

Penelope, I am wondering where you got your information from. Yellowstone covers an area that is 2.2 million acres and I have not heard of erosion problems due to destruction of soil quality resulting in the loss of topsoil from any of our wildlife breeding out of control.

Thank you Rebecca, I signed this on Dec. 20th.

I have been working with and following closely the plight of the wolves with Defenders of Wildlife. I am in awe of these magnificent creatures and the sad fact is that much of the predation is actually by dog/wolf mixes and not by wolves themselves. Ranchers have many, many ways to protect their stock, most of it provided by people like Defenders so there is no reason whatsoever to kill them. The killing in Alaska is just a abhorrent massacre-there is no excuse.

I abhor animal cruelty.......to all animals ---just recently in the state I reside (Idaho) they just put to death some little cougar cubs --it really made me so ill. I wanted to put those put somewhere where they would know how it felt to be treated so cruelly -- since those cubs had lost their momma they needed love not death...it made me cry and want to lash out at someone.

The Arapaho people believe the wolf in the begining showed them how to make a
shelther from the storm, how through the sneek up dance to find food and even
showed them where the medicinal plants were to be found. Why then can't we

All of congress should be made to watch "A MAN AMOUNG WOLVES" It was on Nat Geo some time ago. The so called "hunters" too!! A beautiful progam that would give many an insight on this wondeful animal! Man is the worst predator of them all! At least "lesser" animals kill for food. We are the ONLY ones that do it for sport and it's sooo wrong' When will we ever learn to get along and respect other spieces?

with the increasing loss of hundreds of species each year in the world, we need to do everything we can to protect all that are left. In our case, as Americans, that should start with our own species, native to our own continent. This is the 21st Century - not the 18th or the 19th, and hunting animals is no longer necessary or even humane in this country. No one needs "wolf meat" to live... The only reason that is morally tolerable for killing another creature that is not hurting you in your own back yard. They should especially NOT be killed by any form of aerial hunting. That is NOT sporting - on any level. If you must kill something for "sport" go fishing, or if you MUST kill a warm blooded animal, go hunting for deer in areas where there are many on foot like a real man and or better yet a bow and arrow. At least the advantage won't be a million to one, just a 1,000 to one. Better yet, if you must kill a warmblooded thinking feeling thing - go to the local Recruiting station and sign up! You can even kill people from helicopters legally that way!! BUT of course...that way, they MIGHT be shooting back at you..but with less sophisticated weapons at least so you can still feel smug about your superiority. Do something for your country with your blood lust.

I cannot believe people can be so ignorant and cruel to support aerial hunting...which is not a sport but a massacre. Why? To fullfill insecure testosterone filled hunters need to show off their manhood!
This is despicable! How much blood do you need on your hands to make you feel like a man? The legacy to your children will be filled with shame, ignorance and brutality! You "hunters" make me sick!

Great idea, Charles. The problem is that a Native American would not likely have the education; and if he/she did, they would not be allowed to use it 'against' the whites. Are they even allowed to vote nowdays?? They are still Wards of the Government, aren't they? The government likes quiet, Drunk, reservation Indians.

How far are we willing to go? We increase OUR populations and venture ever farther into the domain of the wildlife. But we do nothing to curb our own constant population growths. And we then see THEM as the problem? Capture and reloate them to areas that are trying to bring these populations back. Do NOT allow sport hunting and arial hunting or it just makes MAN even more of a enemy to our life sustaining planet.

THE FORMER GOVERNOR HAS BROKE THE LAW IN ALLOWING THE AERIAL HUNTS TO RESUME. THE CURRENT GOVENOR NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ASAP. THE FORMER GOVERNOR MURKOWSKI NEEDS TO BE TRIED AS A CRIMANL FOR BREAKING THE LAW, AND SERVE TIME IN PRISON AS A CRIMINAL. THE WOLVES ARE NOT A THREAT IN ALASKA, BUT THE CURRENT ATTITUDE OF THE WOLF HATERS WILL NEVER STOP UNTI THEY KILL OFF ALL PREDATORS THAT THREATEN THEIR TROPHY HUNTING HABITS.

I find this so sick, despicable, and indeed evil to kill innocent animals without any prompting from them. It's one thing killing to protect yourself or someone else, but killing innocent animals that haven't done anything to you is so disgusting. Not only is it horribly wrong to do this, but wolves are a very important part of the ecosystem. When a predator species drastically declines then the animals it eats drastically increases, therefore a much bigger problem with rodents and slightly larger animals. Many more species will then be in danger because of the increase in these other animals. So not only is it absolutely disgusting and evil, it's just not common sense!!!!!

I submit, for all who are undecided on this matter, my amendment to the petition signed.
________________________________________________________________________

I am sure you are aware that Alaskans have voted twice to end the state's brutal aerial hunting program, but state officials continue to let it happen by exploiting a loophole in federal law. Are you not equally aware that every year's hunting season hundreds of wolves could be killed yet again? Do you not know that wolf opponents in Idaho and Wyoming are eager to follow Alaska's cruel example and hundreds of wolves could be killed in the Northern Rockies if these states get their way? Do you not care that Alaska is the only state in the nation where trophy hunters can gun down wolves from airplanes or chase wolves to exhaustion and then shoot them from the ground? --- ________________________________________________________________________ ** I urge and implore YOU to close the loopholes and end aerial hunting of wolves. ** ________________________________________________________________________ --- "Little Red Riding Hood" is a fairytale and wolves are not the evil menacing villians they once were thought to be. Wolves are a national treasure in dire need of your assistance and protection. Please don't "pass the buck" on this matter and ignore the facts. It is OUR responsibility to ensure that all animals are treated with respect and treasured, as well as protected from undue harm. I would ask you, "for if not us, then who" will ensure that they remain for all generations to cheerish and enjoy? --- Please, close the loopholes and end aerial hunting of wolves.
________________________________________________________________________

I urge all who read this to visit the petition site and add your signature, you can sign as "Anonymous", and tell our Representatives
how you feel. Please visit ~ http://go.care2.com/PAW_Act ~ today.
