Unfortunately the Egyptian is not functioning in a way that would respond to petitions. Women need education, more education and there is less trampling on women's basic human rights.

Thank you for calling on the government of Egypt in support of Soheir al-Batea.

FGM must be stopped, period.

Signed. Tha poor child died because of an antiquated attitude that permeates many of these countries. Doctors who are caught performing this should have their licenses revoked and fathers who would put their daughter through this should have them taken away. How many more and how long before this barbarism comes to an end? TY Melania for the post and Charles for the fwd.

Dominating women simply affirmed manhood in the muslim world. Rigid fundamentalism is a matter of principle. But women themselves in this world actually condone the murder of their own daughters if they don't marry the old men chosen for them. The young boys nurtured by their mother's still grow up treating women badly and the young girls are taught early-on they aren't worth much.
There isn't a way out of this mideivel lifestyle as long as they believe in that religion. Even in the free world inside the walls of their homes it's still the middle-ages.
