Kucinich Addresses UN Goldstone Gaza Resolution

November 3, 2009, Congressman Dennis Kucinich addresses H.RES. 867 on the House Floor. H.RES. 867 condemns the UN Goldstone Gaza Fact Finding Mission Report.

Congressman Kucinich stated:

"Today we journey from Operation Cast Lead to Operation Cast Doubt. Almost as serious as committing war crimes is covering up war crimes, pretending that war crimes were never committed and did not exist."

"Because behind every such deception is the nullification of humanity, the destruction of human dignity, the annihilation of the human spirit, the triumph of Orwellian thinking, the eternal prison of the dark heart of the totalitarian."

"The resolution before us today, which would reject all attempts of the Goldstone Report to fix responsibility of all parties to war crimes, including both Hamas and Israel, may as well be called the "Down is Up, Night is Day, Wrong is Right: resolution."

"Because if this Congress votes to condemn a report it has not read, concerning events it has totally ignored, about violations of law of which it is unaware, it will have brought shame to this great institution."

"How can we ever expect there to be peace in the Middle East if we tacitly approve of violations of international law and international human rights, if we look the other way, or if we close our eyes to the heartbreak of people on both sides by white-washing a legitimate investigation?"

"How can we protect the people of Israel from existential threats if we hold no concern for the protection of the Palestinians, for their physical security, their right to land, their right to their own homes, their right to water, their right to sustenance, their right to freedom of movement, their right to human security of jobs, education and health care?".

"We will have peace only when the plight of both Palestinians and Israelis is brought before this House and given equal consideration in recognition of that principle that all people on this planet have a right to survive and thrive, and it is our responsibility, our duty to see that no individual, no group, no people are barred from this humble human claim."

Have you ever asked yourself why the Jewish lobby is so strong in America? Do you think that anybody can become President without the support of those???? I'm only asking, I'm not here to give you the answer.
Thanx "C"

The Goldstone Report has 575 pages.
Judge Goldstone has sent a letter to Chairman Berman (D-CA) and Ranking Member Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), regarding H. Res. 867, which exposes the serious factual errors, mischaracterizations and blatant lies contained in the resolution. It is doubtful that the co-sponsors have even read the report or Goldstone's letter, but the bill has been scheduled for a floor vote this Tuesday, in an attempt to avoid any chance of debate or thoughtful decision.

How did it pass in Congress?

Today it will be discussed in UN.

Israel-Palestina situation is a disgrace to human society. It must be resolved without delay.

As hard as it was for me to trust a politician . . . Kucinich won me over. I agree, Pamylle, Dennis Kucinich is a national treasure!

Ya know . . .

We've all become so jaded (disappointed) by politicians who promise great things, then deliver the opposite -- because, once in office, they become spokespeople for the "special interests" who contributed to their campaigns -- that I think many Americans have forgotten that these people were elected to represent their constituents.

Because Dennis has held true to his purpose, he'll never be president . . . but he will ALWAYS be respected by those who understand that he is one, of only a few, who did what he was elected to do -- be a voice in D.C. for citizens.

I agree Carole! The politicians & Media try to maginalize & minimalize Kucinich - because he is the Democratic IDEAL! He Fights for Truth, Justice & Decency when others agrue over the definitions & nuances.. having forgotten the meanings entirely! That's the Problem with the Democratic Party today - it has Forgotten it's CORE, which is a hundred times greater (in ALL respects!) than the RepubliCON core (which That Party embraces because that's ALL that's left!)!

Dang, Yvonne -- I wish I could send you a green star . . . but you've, obviously, spoken succinctly more than once this week, to my extreme pleasure.

I'll have to suffice by giving you my warmest ((hug)), dear friend.

Dennis has always been my hero since he led Clelveland in a default to the big banks while he was mayor of Cleaveland.

"Because if this Congress votes to condemn a report it has not read, concerning events it has totally ignored, about violations of law of which it is unaware, it will have brought shame to this great institution."

Sounds like business as usual in DC, with only a few voices primarily Kucinich and a few others; ever speaking to the truth and reality of a situation. Unfortunately Carole is correct the truly honest and transparent men are not elected as president, in fact they are often mocked as naive and dreamers. Many of us are dreamers; we dream of a day when the government is responsible for its' actions to the people who elected them, of a day when truth and honesty are valued above partisan manipulations. These people are paid over a hundred thousand a year to simply work in DC for a few months and hopefully be at their offices in the district to assist their constituents. We have approximately 550 members of congress (both houses) with over 30,000 employees to do their work for them, for this they receive an above average salary, excellent health benefits, and all too many tax paid "junkets" and then the under the table monies from the many corporations that "contribute" to their re-election campaigns. We need a top/down - bottom up transformation of our system. Currently our system attracts those who already have money and are looking for an easy way to gain more money and with that - power. To those who still believe these people are on the side of 'the people', I say "think again."

It's so uplifting to connect with others who can see through the illusions.

My sincerest thanks to the internet, this site, and the GREAT friends I've been fortunate enough to meet -- without you, my strength would be harder to sustain. (We all need to know that there are "others" out there who see our vision.)

I've long been a fan of Dennis Kucinich----too bad enought other people didn't believe what he said about many, many things! We'd be a lot better off, in my opinion.

I agree Dennis Kucinich will never reach the Presidency because he is one of the few who isn't in the pocket of special interest but is interested in what is fair and Truth. I so admire him and he restores my faith that not all are corrupt.

If the people running the government are NOT accountable to the people by NOT being above the law, then there is NO democracy. We are not a country of law, but rich and powerful corporate owners corrupting our government and acting successfully above the law: Plutocracy.

Thank you for this news and video. I respect Dennis Kucinich. He should be the U.S. President; but, perhaps he'll do far more for our country serving in Congress. I hope he gets to stay in there a very long time.

''As expected, the U.S. Congress followed the dictates of AIPAC and passed a resolution designed to block the Goldstone Report from reaching the U.N. Security Council and the International Criminal Court.

However, the Goldstone Report has been submitted directly to the ICC by NAMAW (National Association of Muslim American Women) with an appeal to the court to investigate the allegations made by Justice Richard Goldstone.
Please support them in this initiative by contacting the Prosecutor’s Office of the ICC to let it be known that you want action taken too.

Kiwi Girl is about to “walk the walk” when she makes a compassionate and courageous journey to Gaza in December as part of a Code Pink attempt to end the siege there. The least the rest of us can do is to write (respectively please) to:

Kit, you are SO right!!!
Carole, I promoted Dennis during the primaries because he is AMAZING. He is immensely under appreciated & understood, darn it!! Next I campaigned for Obama - and am still glad I did~~~

I was a supporter of Dennis during the primaries too. And was so sadly disappointed that more of our American people could not see the truths he spoke. I still believe he would have made the best President for our Country. Like you, Kathleen, I switched my support to Obama and I am praying for his success.

So many Lies, Illegal Acts and Corruption So Little Time to Clean It Up. Dennis K for President in 2016. Staying the course to support President Obama until then. I believe he needs ALOT of time to work on our American Mess he has inherited.

Thank you Dennis. You are the ONLY Democrat I'd ever vote for*, after a lifetime of being a Democrat.
This bill goes to show that not only our whole congress, but the whole Administration answers to AIPAC!

A lot of innocent people were killed or have been mained for life, including children. Shame! Of course war crimes were committed.
Personally I think that War is a Crime. But Cast Lead was hideous operation, and the people responsible (not the little guys, but the big shots), should be brought before an International Court to face their actions, and take responsibility for them.

Thanks so much C! We would have voted for Kucinich. Too bad the 'establishment" had to annihilate his character so badly along with ignoring him and convinving the masses he was Not a viable candidate. As a democrat myself he was the only democrat I would have voted for. I believe they rendered him the useless candidate because he's not a puppet. So far he has done nothing to change my opinion. Cynthia McKinney is awesome too, but she's no longer a democrat. We NEVER hear anything about the good democrats out there like Bob Bowman who was running for congress in Florida, They get ignored completely or annihilated.. Peter Thottam is a good democrat. He's running for Congress in California.... I hope he gives the rest of 'em a real run for their money!

UN sanctions Goldstone report on Gaza war 06 Nov 2009 The United Nations General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly in favor of a report, which accuses Israel of war crimes as well as crimes against humanity during the weeks-long onslaught on the Gaza Strip. 114 states endorsed a resolution supporting the report by a Human Rights Council panel led by the South African judge Richard Goldstone in Thursday's UN vote while only 18 states including the US objected to the report's adoption.

Fort Hood Massacre is an example of War Crimes that we accept every day. We accept soldiers suffering from killing people and returning with their lives forever changed for the worse. We accept the death of our enemies as if they are not people too. We accept the idea that our enemies are our brothers and sisters. We accept that Nidal Malik Hasan was a murderer and terrorist or blame him and see him as the enemy when he was US.

Nidal Malik Hasan was an America Citizen. He was deeply disturbed by his military experience and more outraged by the prospect that he was going to have to go and fight or kill other Muslims. He taught US that the world is uncaring not to see his pain and conflict when he repeatedly tried to free himself of his military obligations and pay his educational debt with money instead of going to Iraq or Afghanistan. We ignored his being a Muslim and sent him to kill other Muslims. He suffered the racism, hate speech of returning soldiers telling him of their superiority to the evil and bad Muslims they killed, abused, while occupying their country and ridiculing their faith.

We accept the idea that our War Crimes in the M.E. are nothing, but Nidal Malik Hasan's crimes are hateful and wrong. Everything you know is wrong! All War is WRONG! Nidal Malik Hasan died and his actions say this louder that any words. Hate, self hate, guilt, shame, and death are the fruit of war and warriors returning from war that make all wars War Crimes.

Thank you VERY much for that, Casey!

"It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."
--Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

Casey Reed (36)
Saturday November 7, 2009, 6:29 pm
Yes, I have always identified with Albert Einstein as the quid essential human being and as one of his thoughts that I made my own, and at times I think it is more of a mantra for change:
I remember his reaction to nuclear weapons: "The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking [and if that doesn't change we will become extinct] [my words]
"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

So when will we start to leave the past behind, evolve as a species that is aware of our dysfunctional cultures, our tendencies to express biological aggressive drives to control resources and territory in the form of war, rationalize our supremacy with godz, practice our dehumanization of each other with war, torture, and abuse? I mean Einstein was right about most of what he wrote and thought.

Taken what Einstein said together with the history of our "civilized world" don't we have an obligation to reject or at the very least be OBJECTIVE and THINK CRITICALLY about traditional religions, cultures, and practices to force ourselves to live and think about things in new ways? Isn't that what Einstein meant?
