The economy is really bad and if you have not been directly affected, you are very, very lucky. Children are going hungry in the US and to steal what may be their only meal is beyond despicatble.

If our government would priorities the importance of people lives first rather then wars, these children would/should not have to go hungry! This is deplorable to imagine hunger these innocent children suffer while there is money for fighting wars! Thanks Carol.

I heard about this, There should be a vegan option available at all school lunches and that's that.

This really saddens me & is really true & happening...This happened this past year at my daughters Elementary School. What ever extra money I had left over at the end of the week, I would go to the school & go see the Lunch room Manager & give her what extra money I had to kids that had NO lunch Money or forgot it.. The school quit letting kids charge their lunch, so if they forgot or loss their money, They had NO lunch & I couldn't deal w/ that.. Those kids would have to sit in that lunch room w/ all other school kids w/ their heads down while other kids were able to eat...you know, some of those kids, The school was their only source of a meal...& Now that is being taken away from them..... It breaks my heart....Although this was my daughters last year there at that Elementary school, I''m still going to go to that school when school starts & Keep giving school kids that forgot or have NO money a lunch......I hope this issue is resolved soon..It's happening all over.TY Carol for bring this IMPORTANT issue up...

Oh & this does apply to the kids that were covered under free lunch..Now at that school, If your Free Lunch, YOU do NOT get a HOT MEAL & your sent to the end of the line. Free Lunch Students NOW get a DRY HAM SANDWICH, bag of chips & a little carton of milk....This really really, P*SSED/P*SSES me off, especially when they started separating the Free Lunch children & putting them at the end/back of lunch line......

Cheree,wow! nothing like a neon sign to say, "look, here's the poor kids!" So now they're stigmatized, get a crappy lunch AND have to wait at the end of the line to boot? Such a warm & fuzzy feeling NOT!
