Please pray for this little horse, and send your love to Spirit. If anyone wishes to do anything for Spirit, then by all means please do so. I am in this case asking my Care2 family to please contact anyone they know that may be able to help Spirit and give him assistance in this dire situation.Thank you!

What a sad story! How can anyone be so cruel? I'm glad Spirit was rescued, and I hope he continues to respond to treatment. Thanks for sharing this story, Frank. I hope we can follow Spirit's progress.

Thank you! From the bottom of my heart to everyone!

Please pass this news item on; dear friends, we especially need to get this information” out to charitable Equine Veterinarian organizations” which may be able to help Spirit out with his leg.

It looks like he is in good hands at Ranch Hand Rescue. I hope he recovers and is as happy as the other little horse "Midnight". Bless you Frank.

Noted. The more weight Spirit gains means more weight on a painful knee injury. Not sure I'm in agreement about his care; horses need all four legs in good condition to be able to have a decent quality of life. To straighten his knee the horse will need to spend time in a sling with no guarantee of a positive outcome.

How anyone can watch an animal get down to this deporable condition and not have their heart torn out of their chest is beyond me. It does not state what the circumstances are surrounding this, be it lack of finance or lack of caring. If it is financial people need to learn to ask for help or let their horses go to others who can better care for it.

Just unbelievable! Just look at those suffering eyes - the look of wondering if he will be hurt more. Horses are such wonderful, sensitive and intelligent sentient beings. This is heartbreaking. And how many more are treated just as badly or worse around this sick world?

Hopefully they rescued this poor creature in time and with love and care he can mend. How we wish we had a place to take in abused animals and give them love and care. Bless those who can and do.

Thanks Frank.

“The owner said that someone had come into the pasture with a baseball bat and broke his leg” which evidently means that someone witnessed the event. Instead of letting these people get away with these horrific acts of cruelty - they need to be dealt with on the spot. People are so afraid to become involved - but to actually witness something like this and let the perpetrator walk away is as bad if not worse than the deed itself. The bastard (I don’t know what else to call them!) responsible for this cruelty should be in jail - prison - or should be in worse shape than the poor horse. You may not like my thoughts about how these people should be dealt with - but until we actually start dealing with the people who commit these senseless acts - it’s going to keep happening - and our thoughts and comments are just that - thoughts and comments. Actions speak much louder than words - and if ever in the position of being aware or present when something like this is happening - we need to be activists - to have the will and guts to at least do something. That’s the only way we are ever going to stop these perverts. And they do need to be stopped - caught - and dealt with - using whatever means necessary to bring them to justice - - -

Why would this horse have been so starved obviously by the owner If the truth be known the owner broke the leg too and had hoped the horse would die Unbelievably cruel for this poor horse to leave it in that state Its got a strong willpower thats for sure i will pray for it too It has a fitting name Spirit has got plenty of that amazing horse
Do hope it survives
noted thanks

Just awfull. If you can no longer care for an animal, you don't wait almost a year to do somethong about it. This callous person should be chargerd with several offences and not be allowed to ever look after any more animals, especially horses. Please just look after this horse. I don't want to see this horse as another casualty of the meat trade, which seems to happen all to often these days. Thanks for bringing us this story. Please keep us posted on his welfare if you can. Thanks again.

Noted. Very, very sad story. I can't imagine what the horse owner was thinking, starving and not giving Spirit the medical attention he needed. Most people do things out of stupidity or right down cruelty; regardless, since poor Spirit suffered for eight long months, the owner should be held liable for animal cruelty. I sincerely hope Spirit makes it, and its given the love and care it deserves. Thanks, Frank.

my heart breaks to see how this poor soul has been treated. I love all animals, but horses are such noble creatures, capable of great acts of courage and friendship that I cannot understand how in modern day society that they can be treated so badly.
My grandfather was a farmer, and used to get about his fields with a horse. Despite the fact that he was man of mediocre means, he treated his horses with great care and respect. In fact one of his horses had svaed my grandmother's life, when she was thrown under the hoofs of oxen who decided to have a fight. She would have certainly died, if her husband's horse had nor covered her body to protect her from the oxen, by placing himself between the oxen.

I will certainly pray for this little darling.
thanks for sharing Frank!
