This is a poem I wrote about domestic violence, and was published on Latinola. We must all unite together to stop the horrible abuse of women worldwide. It is a sickness which must be eradicated if we are to promote the equality of men and women in the world. Womenís rights must be respected, so please join me in sharing this article far and wide so that together we may make a difference in the lives of the victims of this horrible crime against humanity.

Frank your poem is so haunting with it's sad but very touching words! I see the images of women battered and abused but always loving even the one that tragically ended their lives...and their everlasting love for their children who they wanted to continue to love and be near them but their lives were cut short and their desire always lives on. How powerful this poem is in helping us all to see that both mother and their children grieve for this untimely separation and that these children often deprived of their mothers, pay the ultimate price psychologically in never being able to see their mother's again, feel their love, and go to them when they need their support so that they can grow up strong, confident, and find their purpose in life! So many lives are destroyed when violence is committed against women- future generations of children who lose their way, their identity, and even their sanity...all of society pays a terrible price when women are not valued and respected! Thank you Frank for this very profound poem which deeply touches our hearts and souls! Thank you for sharing!

Frank, only a man with abundant humanity and sensitivities could write such a collection of words that speak with a "knowing" of the suffering and pain abused women experience. Painfully beautiful, thanks.

This sad poem is unfortunately true for so many women.
In Australia domestic violence has not been entirely eradicated, but greatly reduced by legislation and enforcing the law.

You cannot currently send a star to Frank because you have done so within the last week.

Firstly let me Congratulate you on the publishing of one of your many lovely poems in the LatinoLA. The bringing of awareness of this issue worldwide is so very important and I will forward.

Violence affects the lives of millions of women worldwide, in all socio-economic and educational classes. It cuts across cultural and religious barriers, impeding the right of women to participate fully in society.

An estimated one in every three women worldwide experiences violence, with rates reaching as high as 70 percent in some countries. Violence against women and girls happens in peacetime and in conflict and knows no national or cultural boundaries.

November 25th is the UN-proclaimed International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, however violence against women happen year round and therefore I'm grateful to Frank for this reminder.

Violence takes many forms including: physical, sexual and psychological abuse, as well as harmful cultural practices such as forced child marriage. violence has extensive health and social consequences for individuals, families and communities.

Violence against women and girls reduces their contributions to development, inflicts costs on national economies and undermines poverty reduction efforts. Is good to read, Alexandra, that Australia has made good progress.

Thank you Frank for such a beautiful and evocative (and painful) poem! It truly encapsulates how abused women are taken in again and again by their abusers 'remorse'. Some abusers are so evil and clever that they manage to keep up a good front for the whole of the rest of the world - till they nearly kill/kill the woman involved. Awful. Thank God there are now refuges for women and children to go to, and that people do seem to understand more about such things.

Frank, this really touched me. You write beautifully. The words I know must be in the thoughts and prayers of hundreds of millions, if not billions of women. Thank you for speaking for them. I wish they knew that you wrote that, that they could seek comfort in knowing that there are good, sensitive, kind and caring souls such as yourself.

Congratulations, too, on being published. How could anyone not publish such beauty.

But we should also remember that sometimes men are the victims of domestic violence and that, though less frequent, is equally wrong.
