I know all about bamboo. I planted a miniature bamboo near my walk way 15 years ago. It took over everything. My husband and I spent four months eradicating it. It even got into our septic tank. It may be stronger than steel but whatever you do, don't plant miniature (Sassa Nana) bamboo in your garden.

Interesting article. I love bamboo.Never knew it was that strong . I've been warned about how it takes over like Ann states. So I just plant them in small size containers. Thanks Ruth

Why are we surprised? Look at spider silk. Nature is full of ideas that we could substitute for fuel; transportation; building materials; paper just to name a few.

Interesting. A fence made of bamboo has a very beautiful decorative effect, and is very sturdy.

The iron curtain is long gone, but the bamboo curtain is still standing, even though it became one way traffic for China now, to their advantage.
