signed, thx. but they're going to LAUGH at this petition if THAT is the actual wording of it, rather ridiculous.
("Dear leaders,
Stand up for solar. Protect jobs, the environment, and good business policy by supporting smart solar policies in every state. ")
They better design a petition to OUT Senator Rabon! or at least demand a new vote WITH COUNTING:

I did some checking on this and came up with this link on the IMO sounds like more nay votes but then again that could be because they hollered louder..the replies underneath are very interesting to read and informative both ways. Several comments that were made make sense to me which is when something has to be subsidized it's not truly paying for itself. if there is a demand for it where it can end up paying for itself that's another topic.

Here's another liberal site...basically same article.

Solar-powered plane begins first leg of US trip
A solar-powered plane, attempting to fly across the United States, has begun the first leg of its trip from San Francisco.

Powered only by the sun's rays, the aircraft, named the Solar Impulse, has begun its two month journey to John F. Kennedy airport in New York, making stops in Dallas and Washington during the journey.
Swiss pilots and co-founders of the project, Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg, will take turns to fly the craft, which uses solar panels mounted on its jumbo-jet-sized wingspan.
"It is not the easiest way to fly but it is the most fabulous way to fly, because the more you fly, the more energy you have on board," said co-founder Mr Piccard.
"We want to inspire as many people as possible to have that same spirit: to dare, to innovate, to invent."
Having taken off from Moffett Field, an airport in San Francisco, the Solar Impulse will now head to Phoenix, Arizona, where it is expected to arrive after 19 hours of slow-speed flight.

Using similar power to that of a motorised scooter, the Solar Impulse's energy is collected from 12,000 solar cells mounted on the aircraft's 208 foot wingspan.
The plane's rechargeable batteries, similar to that of as Tesla car, allow the craft to fly after dark by using energy generated during the day.
The pilots, however, do not expect a smooth ride as the plane's car-sized cockpit and light weight make it vulnerable to strong winds, fog, rain and clouds.
Despite the dangers, Solar Impulse's project organisers say the journey is intended to boost worldwide support for the adoption of clean-energy technologies.
"I hope people understand the potential of this technology and use it on the ground," said pilot Andre Borschberg, who flew for the Swiss Air Force for more than twenty years.
"If we don't try to fly today using renewable energy, we never will," he added.
Started in 2003, the Solar Impulse project has cost an estimated 90 million euros (£76 million) and has involved engineers from Swiss escalator maker Schindler and research aid from Belgian chemicals group Solvay.
Having already made an intercontinental flight from Spain to Morocco last June, Solar Impulse is a test model for a more advanced aircraft its designers plan to fly around the globe in 2015.
