Calvin is safe, so is maggie, buck, sparky, homer, penny, radar, mason, goldie, tipi, murphey, joey, goldie, liz, max...but not the other four.

We have taken out 18 dogs in the last month gtom Montcalm, Michigan. the dogs go to scientific research there, where the guy who gets them can show up any time. we were told he would not be returning before Christmas, but the next day he came and took liz. by calling the county admin and the commissioner's, thankfully liz was returned, and we have now, she is doing great. the others are all going to approved rescue/foster groups...but there remains four more. thus far, the only way we've been able to save these dogs from being tested --yesterday, they were sleeping on someone's couch, tomorrow they could be chosen because their hearts are similar to humans, or they could have their eyes and ears or brain dissected -- just because they are at the shelter. please consider donating to help us get out the remaining dogs. each dog is 70 for the fee to get out, and then about 58 for vetting. while waiting for transport, we've boarded the dogs for 10 a day. i don't know if people are 'adjusted' now to the idea that shelter dogs go to scientific research, but if not, and you're alarmed that this is happening, please email me your phone number and call me if you care to donate to get a dog out, thank you.

The beautiful dogs and information about them can be found on these links -

Make Your voice heard

Stop our pets from going to research: Writing about HB 5263

You are a critical factor in whether or not we will see an end to pound seizure in Michigan.

Your letters to your representatives, senators and presently, members of the House Regulatory Reform Committee will speak for the animals and animal lovers or the only voices they will hear will be those of the brokers.

Your willingness to educate and involve other people within your sphere of influence are also critical.

Put peitions out at your adoption events for visitors to sign and then mail them to the committee with a copy to local representatives and senators, put an article about this legislation in your newsletters along with the address for the House Regulartory Reform Committee. If you don't have a newsletter, use your address book or your database of adopters and supporters.

You can pull information from a number of websites such as the Physicians for Responsible Medicene The National Association of Animal Control Officers The Association of Veternairians for Animal Rights to add to your own thoughts and feelings.

or you can simply say something like:

"Please support HB 5263. I feel strongly that our public animal control shelters should not be supplying animals to Class B Brokers.

Most of the shelters that are providing animals to Class B Brokers don't give owners a good chance to find a missing pet. They don't even bother to try and promote adoption. They lack websites or post only two or three animals. Their hours of operation are minimal. The average working person couldn't even get there to look for a missing pet or an animal to adopt.

Pound Seizure has taken the place of the public service animal control shelters were supposed to provide.

This needs to stop. The only way to stop it is to outlaw pound seizure.

This is horrible Simone. I would hide the dogs anywhere while the bastard is cruising around looking for flesh to disect. Uugghh - you know if everyone stood up things like simply could not happen. God is going to judge us very harshly.

The only thing I am able to offer are my prayers that these last 4 will be saved. Thanks Simone, sadly noted.

Simone, I will pray with you, but I'm so damned angry, I feel like Nurith, and have felt so for a long time, we have to collectively find a better way to approach those in power, Eureka seems to say the same, lead on my friend

Simone I get so angry that I can barly control myself. If they want to do these kinds of things let them do it on there selves. It might sound rough but why not death row inmates they have wrong and we are keeping and paying them for crimes bad ones like muder, These animals are innocent they do not deserve this at all. Breaking my heart to see this I can only pray that they will be pulled.

These people should try these tests on themselves, it wont hurt them because they have no feelings

I have emailed Kitt and offered to take one of the dogs. We will have to find a way to get it to Belleville, Ontario so that may pose a problem. I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT LIZ WAS SAVED!!! What a little sweetie!!! And Julie - you are so right - these people have no real heart and no feelings. How do they go home at night and pet THEIR animals and look at their children. Just disgusting and the laws and the damn voting public needs to be heard!!!

I understand Montcalm Co has a new administrator and this was going to stop. I volunteer at Pound Buddies in Muskegon Co. We sent petitions etc. but will contact our reps.again. It goes on because our tax dollars support this practice abd people hide their heads. VIVIsection has to stop. I'm so sorry, I thiought things were improving.

I think they should do their research on murderers, child abusers, rapists. It is better than putting them in jail. I mean if they are used for research then the animals will be safe.

I would love to adopt one but I live way up the coast in Maine and have no idea how to get it here. We have an animal shelter in my area and I am planning on rescuing some animals from there. Anyway, I will donate some money. Went to the site but did not see where to send it. Also, would it get there in time? Too bad they do not hace a PayPal account.

I dont understand - My Vet tells me that I can not use human medicine for my dogs; my doctor tells me that I can not take animal medicine for myself. Then why are they testing and do research on animals? The past years plenty animals had to die in this way, why still do it today. They certainly have gathered enough knowledge on research. Take the rapists and murderers and do tests on them.

there are actually people in prison who are willing to use their bodies for research, but it's considered inhumane. thanks for making that point, Julie, the researchers hide behind their lies, don't they?
