A Vermont man rescued a baby moose from dogs that had chewed up his hips, but it doesn't look like David Lawrence can protect the moose from state wildlife officials who say the now-grown bull must be killed. Every day Lawrence makes

Sorry Simone, can't watch any videos until tomorrow - I'm just about capped out on my bandwidth. Can't you start a petition to hammer these wildlife officials? I will gladly sign.

Thanks for this post.

I know Betty, he should be allowed to keep him. It is ridiculous and unkind.

This moose should belong in th e wild, and is not a pet... Why do people have to still want exotic pets only to find that it is not feasiblle

Why must they kill the moose!! Just relocate him for goodness sake!

Seems like the whole "farm" where the moose is, is under scrutiny and the authorities want the animals removed, if I read it right. If they are worried about health issues for other wild animals then they should relocate the ones in the preseve after quarantine/testing. Why is everything so complicated?

It is never good..wise..or right to keep wild animals..It is not fair to them..not to mention against the law..None of these animals should be fenced in..not ever..

Leave them free and wild..it is for their own good health and well-being..It is extremely selfish to make them "pets"

Aaaah, come on people he saved the bull. What is wrong with this. It is not an exotic animal but a native of Vermont. The land is theirs too!
I will sign the petition Simone.
The rest of course should remain free.

Oh, please ... kill him? This guy worked hard to save the poor thing and obviously he is now used to 'his' !human! Why can't he continue to take care of him as the Moose now could maybe have a hard time fending for himself. And like Michelle rightly suggests ... Why can't they relocate him? I'd love to sign the petition!

NEVER, NEVER try to keeo a wild animal as a pet. Most state laws prohibit this and it nearly always ends badly for the animal.

Where is the Petition, I'll sign it. I don't understand why Pete has to killed and I don't think he is kept as a pet, he is on a animal preserve of some sort, about 600 acres. I do agree that wild animals should not be kept as pets but non-human animals and humans do bond and in this case I think this what has happened. Besides this man has taken care of Pete and saved his life and now they want to kill Pete.

I agree with suew. Let him keep it, there can be certain exceptions to the no wild animals as pets rule, though the "rest should remain free"as sue said.

You cannot currently send a star to Mark or Chaz because you have done so within the last week.

That is why I say it is selfish to interfere with wildlife..It truly hurts them more than anything else..I know everyone here has a good heart and truly believes that keeping them.. is helping them.. I just wish people would really take the time to read up on this and try to understand the reasons why this is so bad..and wrong to do to our wildlife..

As for making exceptions..well once any exceptions are allowed..then all hell breaks loose so to speak..and everyone would be doing it..It is a law for very good and sound reasons..

We have already domesticated..dogs..cats..birds..and look at the state of that issue..We have made a mess in that..Not us here personally..but millions of animals suffer..abandoned..mistreated..abused..killed..

Look at the guy who has Tony the tiger..And how many others have brought harm even if unintentionally to wild animals..
It is wrong..whether they are stuck in a cage or stuck on someones property..

Now people want to start messing with wildlife..I say thank goodness the law is there to keep them wild..and we need to respect that for their sake..not ours..
