What a big, brave guy that cat killer was. A tiny kitten threatened his life, so he killed it. Why didn't he pick on someone his own size? He deserves the punishment that the ancient Romans used to give: Put him unarmed and naked in a big arena with the biggest carnivore we can find. (And I don't mean man!)

I agree Mike, there are a lot of animal lovers in jail. I've never been in one myself (other than visiting) but I hear about it and I always assume it because most inmates, especially among the women , are themselves survivors of child abuse and neglect. And we often turn out huge animal lovers, not haters, as some people often assume. That is also the only satisfaction I get when I hear for example of the 17 year old girl in NY who was sentenced to only one year prison for baking a cat. There are ovens in prison. And one year is a long, long time if you are locked up with hopefully a bunch of animal lovers and are not a celebrity like M. Vick.

That teenager would have probably gone on to torture kids...animals are usually early targets of terribly sick and abused people. I believe he needs to be kept out of society. He needs psychiatric treatment, though this kind of personality, in my experience, usually develops from having been terribly abused early on in his own life. Revenge, called 'punishment' in our society, perpetuates the sickness...it's extremely difficult and takes a long course of treatment to cure such a deranged personality, if at all possible..

There is no way that giving this man the same treatment he got when he was young, and/or the same treatment he gave that kitten, will 'teach him ' any thing other than the biggest person has more power. I'm not sure he's curable. best to lock him up where he cannot harm others. Most of us have no idea what goes on in the minds of abused. tortured, young people.

Where are all these people coming from? It seems everyday there is news of humans hurting animals. This makes me ashamed of my species - or certain elements of it.
Fire is an very painful way to die. Did this kid not even think how burning would feel for the poor kitten? I hope this person is never allowed near another animal again.
