Since these photographs were taken most of these dingo pups have been killed by rangers, died of starvation or run over, says dingo protester Jennifer Parkhurst. It's typical of the native dogs' life expectancy under the State Government's Fraser

Western Australian Dingo Association released the pictures this week, in a show of support for Ms Parkhurst.
``As far as I know, of the puppies in the pictures, all except one are dead,’’ she said.
``It was a similar situation with the litter the year before. Three pups starved to death, three were killed, at least one was killed by its father when it was ear-tagged, one was run over on an access track and the remaining one found a mate, but then its mate was run over on the beach.’’
Ms Parkhurst claims the state’s rangers are illegally killing and hazing the native dogs. Her campaign has won won tremendous support from Aboriginal elders, Noosa MP and shadow environment spokesman Glen Elmes.
Rangers raided Ms Parkhurst’s home in August, seizing computers, video footage, hard drives and camera gear in what the state calls an investigation into commercial activity on the island and illegal dingo feeding.
No charges have been laid and critics have slammed the state for attempting to ``cover-up’’ its rangers’ actions. Freedom of information papers revealed rangers were listing cause of death on dingo autopsy reports as ``rifle-itis’’ and ``half an ounce of hot lead’’.

I have read about Ms Parkhurst before, she's been undergoing harrassment by the authorities over the rights of dingos.

Why won't the authorities speak up as to why they want them dead?

The Dingo is considered Australia's national wild dog and is not a vermin or pest. These beautiful dogs need to be protected not killed. Last I heard they were cut off from the humans on Fraser Island and the dogs were starving. Its so sad what is happening to the Dingo, I hope things turn around for them or we are going to lose them.

Nice to see an article from Noosa, lived there for 10 years.

They want them dead, Gillian, because as far as I can work out, they see the Dingo as a pest and because they have attacked some people. Its not the dingo's fault if they attacked people on Fraser Island , it's the people's fault because they are ignorant.

Ones that knew what they were doing in a wild act of merciful killing will be held until their death comes upon them to face their maker square in the eyes of the beholder..the cruelty that comes in daily from torturing our animals to putting judgment upon others seems to have reached it's peak on this Planet.
