N.Y. Governor Wants to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages

"These animals are kept in stables that are too small, often they're cold, they work long hours and they don't have time off. ... There was a horse about three months ago that got his foot caught on a parking meter and had to be destroyed--it's awful.

Recently another accident happened with one of the carriages up there. They didn't really report much on the carriage, I noted it when I saw a quick report of sirens setting off the horse or horses. I'm thinking one of the NYPD's police horses was also spooked.
