How can anyone be so cruel? I will never understand people who allow these animals to starve and suffer.

me again,Raffaella from Italy....please, DO NOT THINK ALL ITALIANS ARE LIKE THAT....I see and know a lot of people who love animals and many animal associations cooperate with city councils to improve the life of abandoned dogs!

More horrifying torture that is so totally senseless! I get physically ill when I see these things...I cannot beleive that their are people out there that could do things so grossly inhumane and/or see these things without acting to help animals in this shape!!!! My faith is God is faith in the human race diminishes with each passing day.

Firstly, if you’re going to send this email to people, I recommend correcting some of the spelling and grammatical errors. It’s rather hard to take something seriously when “being” is spelt as “beeing”. Secondly, very little information is actually given about this “canile”, all I see is a load of tragic pictures. Yes, it makes the heart break, but you can hardly take action without being properly informed. Thirdly, “…those beautiful Italian people with their beautiful culture, beautiful music and beautiful seaside who go on Sundays to their beautiful churc[h]es…” are still people after all. They’re not all beautiful, their history is tainted with violence as much as any other culture’s in history, and I can guarantee you that not every Italian goes to church. Boycotting all Italian products and deciding not to travel to Italy for vacation because of this is rather ridiculous. It’s not just happening in Italy. You might as well go to Mars if you want to vacation in a place that lacks this kind of violence.
If you want to take action, my recommendation to you is to become a volunteer on the front-lines of animal abuse prevention. Apply your time to such endeavors, begin fund-raisers. Talk to your local veterinarian, I’m sure they are aware of more realistic groups you can join and have more information on abuse prevention than this article offers. Get involved in social services if you can.
However, I will give this website a kudo. Awareness is always a great start to solving an issue. However, if you want to make your mark on society, sometimes, more professional angles are required. People WILL ignore action sites with errors and little fact. You have to be sure to give a convincing argument to show people that change is needed. You need to show people that you have a definitive plan of action. Ideals simply aren’t enough. Telling people about Utopia is one thing. Telling them how to get it and giving them a taste of it is far more mind-blowing.

God, God where are you? If I could be God for one day....I would get rid of those malefic humans withut a doubt.
Italy is not the only Country without a care for animals.....China is horrible, skinning alive the pets....then is Japan, Spain and it many hunters that tie the beautiful Greyhunds by the neck to a tree leaving their back paws touch the ground so they suffer more. GRee is just as bad.

I would get rid of any industry that mistreats all the animals and the slaughter houses for the abuse. now I have finnished getting rid of almost the whole world....ah, if I were God for a day, my wrath towards humans would be without mercy. I plead with God each night about'
this horrible situation. Alfred Schweitzer wrote a beautiful prayer for all worthy of your sorry, so very sorry for all the animals of the world.

Every nation has its cruel people, its evil people, it's insensitive, brutal, inhumane people. It sometimes feels as though those who love animals are swimming against an endless tide of such brutality--but look at where we were a hundred years ago. Then fifty. Then twenty-five. You can see that the tide is slowly turning. People of good heart have accomplished amazing things for animals. And yes, it IS an endless, often thankless and emotionally draining job yet it is in every way worth doing.

The following may shed some light as to how this seems to work in Italy. I am a member of the WSPA and I approached HQ on the subject.

This is the response I recieved a few days ago:

Hi again, Ron,

I received a response from a WSPA staff member who liaises with our European member societies. He told me the following, which I think gives a great background to this problem. Rest assured that I will inform you of any changes in this situation.

“Sadly this Italian kennel petition is just the tip of the iceberg. These pictures and many equally horrific images regularly circulate on the internet. Unfortunately this level of suffering is all too commonplace in Italy because their national legislation stipulates a no kill policy. Irrespective of the misery these animals have to endure, they are left in this situation because they are not legally allowed to be euthanised. These images are the pitiful results of no kill policy coupled with almost non-existent enforcement of Italy’s existing animal welfare legislation. There are standards of care set out in Italy but there is neither the manpower nor the incentive to enforce them.

As campaigns like this Italian kennel petition continue to get publicity this will hopefully lead to a change in policy but the situation in Italy is so entrenched that this is likely to take some time. There are WSPA member societies in Italy who promote humane animal welfare methods and we are working with them to help advance this situation.”

Please let me know, Ron, if you have further questions.

As always, best wishes to you and yours

Upon receiving this response, it seems that making a awful lot of noise about this situation on a global scale is the possible answer of creating a change in this type of Itlaian behaviour towards the animals.

So, here is my advice: START SCREAMING - Wherever you are in this world. It is bound to wake up a few other contries as well such Spain where animals are so starved out by their kennel keepers, the dogs resort to cannibalism in order to survive, and nobody seems to care there either.

P.S. - Holly G., please let me know if my spelling is correct. I would hate to confuse you as you may then not know what we are trying to say if we did not spell it right. Right?
