HEALING HATRED
By His Holiness the Dalai Lama
"The destructive effects of hatred are very visible, very obvious and immediate. For example, when a strong or forceful thought of hatred arises, at that very instant it overwhelms one totally and destroys one's peace and presence of mind. When that hateful thought is harboured inside, it makes one feel tense and uptight, and can cause loss of appetite, leading to loss of sleep, and so forth.
If we examine how anger or hateful thoughts arise in us, we will find that, generally speaking, they arise when we feel hurt, when we feel that we have been unfairly treated by someone against our expectations. If in that instant we examine carefully the way anger arises, there is a sense that it comes as a protector, comes as a friend that would help our battle or in taking revenge against the person who has inflicted harm on us. So the anger or hateful thought that arises appears to come as a shield or a protector. But in reality that is an illusion.

I took that Dear lord memo as a sick non funny joke. BO's name could have been replaced with any name.
I got that email a while back and just deleted it. It's not funny to me.

This is why I don't participate in any social networks ( other than Care2) because they are entities
for the gov to troll and spy on us all. Face book and others are the first stop
for police to see who we are all connected to on a daily basis.

Noted. Petition closed. Can sign on ...on another Petition on Change.org

It is so sad but this is why people need to make a living will and a will up designating a POW and a MPOW (Power of Attorney) and (Medical Power of Attorney) so that in the even that something like this does happen they will hopefully be protected.

Also....for the STRAIGHT PEOPLE WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY GAY PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING SO HAD FOR THE RIGHT TO BE MARRIED....THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS:

In the even that your Partner gets terminally ill, if you are not married or are gay and your State Does NOT recognize GAY MARRIAGE, a lot of STATES will not recognize a POW or a MPOW. Even if they have drawn out a Will and have designated their Partner to make ALL of their Medical Decision about what is to be done for them and or all of the decisions about Property or burrial or any other matters or if there are children involved.....a relative or immediate family member can take them to court and win the case to take away the children, or to make all Medical Decisions, burrial decisions, property decision or any other kind of decision inspite of the fact that the PARTNERS may have been together for decades or not and even if they did have a Will drawn up or not....if the STATE that they live in does NOT recognize GAY MARRIAGE. THAT is what all of the fuss is about as to why LGBT people want to have the ability to be able to get married. It is also about love as well but it is also about appreciating and respecting what the two have shared together and between each other for years and the trust between each other and their private wishes and wants and needs and that should be respected.

Nope, not treason. Nope, not sick and twisted. It's called opinion. It's called free speech. See, that is what the LIBERALS want when when they have their opinion, but not what they allow everyone else to have. See, that is what our brave men and women fight for...freedom...interesting how it is ok for the bleeding heart liberals to protest a soldier's funeral, but not ok for people to condemn, criticize, and talk about their socialistic terrorist loving pet in the White House that is married to the brainless idiot of a wife that condemns the people, military and country her simpleton of a husband is President, (OUCH THAT HURTS), of. Secret Service welcome...just call first so I can put the coffee on...

Edward H., Obama is the President. Get over it. As for liberals protesting at funerals, never, ever get Fred Phelp's church confused with liberalism. His church is very hateful and hold disgusting signs practically every day here in Topeka. There is nothing liberal or progressive about Phelp's church, and it is Phelp's people who protest the funerals of fallen soldiers. Get the facts before you start calling the wrong people liberals. I know that getting the facts is inconvenient and too much trouble for you conservatives and teapartyists, but it is what you need to do to avoid looking so stupid and out of step with reality on blogs like this one.

I've even sent that joke on to others [even though none of them are really my favorites of anything]. If someone does the unthinkable as a result of you sending that sick joke on to others, you have aided and abbetted in the assassination (or attempt) of a U.S. President, and I would love to see the Secret Service nail you and people like you for thinking it is no deal at all to spread such violent messages.

I'm talking to you, Edward H. This is a copy and paste of what you posted, and I am commenting on it to show you what can happen. I know it is something you want to see happen, and you are irresponsible and crossing the line when you repeat stuff like this. If McCain had won in 2008, you wouldn't be doing this. But like so many conservative teapartyist types, you are a stupid, ignorant, hateful coward. This is where you say you sent the prayer to others: "I've even sent that joke on to others [even though none of them are really my favorites of anything". If someone does the unthinkable as a result of you sending that sick joke on to others, you have aided and abbetted in the assassination (or attempt) of a U.S. President, and I would love to see the Secret Service nail you and people like you for thinking it is no deal at all to spread such violent messages. We liberals have a lot more legitimate gripes about you conservatives than vice versa. Get that and learn to live with it, or inform yourelf and wise up. You might even improve yourself and become a liberal.

I am disgusted that Obama has done the opposite of all of his pre-election talk...escalated wars rather than ending them. planning to drill for oil off-shore and in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge, etc. (he's probably "owned" by the powers that be) so he is another Bush, but no one would get away with suggesting that Bush be assassinated!

I never fail to be aghast at the absolute inanity of the teabaggers. I watched several videos of one of their gatherings this weekend and half of them have NO IDEA what they are even protesting against! One lady was asked what she was protesting and she looked around her as though for help and then said timidly "Ummmm......tyranny? And ummmmm....I dunno....taxes?". Asked what she wanted, she replied "Freedom?". Another woman wanted each and every govt. office eliminated--no more board of education, no more social security, no more law enforcement--NOTHING except "our god and our guns". Another said that she was not prejudiced, but that even though she had been a lifelong democrat, she could not bear the thought of a black man as president--but she wasn't prejudiced, though.

This whole thing saddens me. Have we not learned anything? That eliminating those you do not like does not solve any issue. It makes more issues and you end up in jail. Hate is not natural it is cultivated.

ALSO, the President does not have all the authority you think he does. He is governed and told what he can and cannot do. The Congress has most of the say. Who vetoed a bill Obama signed? Hmmmm? Don't give him more credit than is due. PLUS he walked into a quagmire 16 years in the making. Why would a sane person want to do that? Only someone who is not well informed himself, is what I figure. HE is not the worst that can happen. You want Biden as President?

You probably are for Palin, the Great Alaskan Witch. What if she ended up president? OMG!! She is not for womens rights and she authorized the aerial wolfkill in Alaska. She is a man's woman not a womans woman.

So forget hate and put your energies into electing the right people to the senate, congress and all the other places the "older than dirt" guys and gals need to retire from. Have you notices that Obama's choices have been shot down? He is a signer and a frontman. He is not the power behind the Presidency. Get educated and stop the hate cycle. Hate gets you ulcers and nowhere.

Edward H. That is not freedom of Speech, that is inciting someone to do a horrible act. Yes I am a bleeding heart Liberal and proud of it. I care about my fellow man. I care for people who are sick, hurting, out of jobs. The difference between you and Liberals, we do have opinions and vote out who we do not agree with, while your side, shout death threats, insults, do not care for people as long as you have yours. Tell lies, try to change history to suit your republican animals. In my eyes you are not a human and I apologize to animals.

What is this sickness that flows through America - if you don't happen to like the President - you just eliminate him? He has been put there by you people to do a job and perhaps you don't always like what he is doing....give him a chance and your support. You can always VOTE him out next time.
I never liked Tony Blair or Kevin Rudd - but I wouldn't ever wish them any harm.

I am absolutely floored that those who are now protesting wars, taxes, etc were no where to be found while Bu$h and Co. were ruling this country - where were you when Patriot Acts I & II were signed, where were you when we invaded a country that posed no threat to us - where were you when tax cuts for the richest people in this country were freely given? where were you when our economy was being destroyed by the Uber-Greedy? Yeah - where was your outrage then? Why weren't you joining with the rest of us sane and well educated people when we were warning of corporations taking over our democracy? Why didn't you take to the streets when Bu$h and Paulson handed out the first of the bank bailouts? So now you take to the streets - because we have an intelligent President who happens to be both Black and White who also threatens you because all you see is a Black man in the white house.... yes - I'll call it - racist rants thinly veiled with incorrect labels of socialism, fascism, etc. Most of these people have no idea what they are talking about or shouting..... Bu$h and his ilk took this country down - and most of us intelligent people realized the damage that was being done - but none of us called for his assassination or calls to harm his family.... The culture of fear that the past administration shoved down our throats is nothing compared to the homegrown terror we are all facing now.... wake up people - learn and think before you speak!

There was a time you'd be thrown jail for a stunt like this.

Anyone want to bet this is a COINTELPRO false flag type Facebook account? Think people, think! Today it will be censoring a person making a very careless statement online, tomorrow it will be censoring Baptists for having their Christian beliefs, or a Wiccan for their beliefs, or a member of the Lakota Nation speaking out for the protection of their rights or anyone who voices their displeasure at the way the government is being run or using our tax dollars will be censored and.... if you stand for censorship, then why stop there? The next step from censorship is a tyrannical government that will drag itís citizens off to the gulag / Gitmo to be tortured (or have their children tortured) to the point that they will admit to anything to make the torture stop. Do your research on the implications of signing this petition. The implications are imposing, far reaching and helping further intolerance to a point that tomorrow the petition being signed may be an ideal or a topic that you hold dear to you. Remember: An informed society is a primary threat to an imposing regime or dictatorship. Asking for censorship only furthers an agenda of an imposing, dictatorial regime. We live in the United States and we DO have a freedom of speech! Isn't freedom and democracy what all the soldiers going over to Iraq and Afghanistan are supposed to be protecting and dying forÖ freedom and Democracy? All I ask is for anyone about to sign this petition is to think about the implications of asking Facebook to remove this user. As far as I can see no one has directly threatened anyone on this Facebook site. The comment was a bit careless but hardly a threat directly to Obama.
THINK FOLKS!!!

A "joke" asking for the president's death in the form of a prayer; pretty warped "humor" I'd say. Signed, thank you Simone.

Hey Edward I believe many in the conservative party are the big whining babies and sorry losers right about now. Who are you calling a bleeding heart anyway? Those who hide behind guns and words of hate are cowards plain and simple.
We are running the country now so go lick your wounds and cry!
Signed thanks Simone

Hi Dave,
You have a very valid point about freedom of speech, and it is the mark of a free society; however, I do think there is a time and place for everything, and Facebook is not the place for that kind of garbage. I would take those words as a threat to the President, whoever he or she may be. What if it was you that the prayer for death was for? Words have power that can't always be predicted.

That is horrid! Sometimes I think that 'free speech' needs to be detailed.
I signed the petition.
Thanks Simone.

If you don't like a President then that's what election's are for. There has been 4 assassination's in this Country. The people who did it turned into dispised individual's. What is this nut thinking of? Does he think that he will become a hero. Look at history. I think that the Secret Service should be looking at this.. I've signed the petition & I hope that anyone thinking of doing this should immeadiately seek the help they need from anyone who is the Mental Health care group's.

This is just to sad. He is our president and he is the leader of our country. we should respect him and if we are so unhappy with this man, wait till the next election to vote him out. No need for stupidity and talk of assasinating a loving husband and the father of two beautiful little girls. This incident definately needs to be further investigated. How awful. God Bless the President.

"This is just to sad. He is our president and he is the leader of our country."
Yes, it is VERY sad that he is our president. [Yes, I know I am taking your words out of context.] As for being the leader of this country. No. He's pathetic and only looking for notches on his belt. He is not leading the country, he is trying to make a name for himself.

"we should respect him and if we are so unhappy with this man, wait till the next election to vote him out."
I have no respect for the man. He is pathetic, ridiculous, and a shameful example of a president. He supports terrorists, terrorism, socialism, promotes those who break the laws [to cabinet posts], lies, and the list goes on and on. He will be a one term president.

"No need for stupidity and talk of assasinating a loving husband and the father of two beautiful little girls."
No one is talking of assassinating the president or that would be investigated by the Secret Service. As for a loving husband, so what? Sarah Palin is a loving wife...look at what was said about her. Where were all of you when defending her came into play? Being a father means nothing, it requires semen, just ask all the deadbeat dads who don't pay child support, etc.. You want to praise him for his two beautiful daughters, but where were all of you when Sarah Palin was picked on regarding her downs syndrome son?

"How awful."
Yes, yes how awful Barak Obama is...on all levels. I see nothing good in, of, about, or around the man. [Yes, out of context again, I know.]

After reading the comments this morning, I'm struck by the fact that what we are doing is practicing freedom of speech as well. We have the right to say what we feel in this group, and if a majority of people say take that garbage down, it should be taken down. We object to other things we find offensive such as animal and child abuse. I find any veiled or bare threat against the president of our country as not only offensive but treasonous. As much as I disliked Bush, I never even contemplated suggesting he be killed.
