This is only logical when man takes over the elephants' habitat. I mean, wouldn't you defend your home from a stranger?

Lets face it, the evidence is there, we have seen all the documentories, Elephants are highly intelligent animals, they have a social hierarchy that we could learn a lot from, they are protective of their young and grieve in the same way that we do. At what point are we as the so called dominat spieces going to wake up? We should not be surprised with the knowledge that we have, when sentient beings make a stand against mans desimation of their numbers and their habitat.

"Vijitha Perera, secretary of the union, said the Department of Wildlife's response to the conflict had been woeful. It included giving cartridges to residents to shoot the animals, he said." I would agree.
Thanks Simone.

No where is it written that we have the right to all the space on this planet. As we continually take over the only habitat the elephants have what are they supposed to do. Humans will not win in the end, The Earth will spit us off as we deserve for killing other species and polluting this planet.

This is so sad. I feel for the innocent humans who have been killed (mowing a lawn is an innocent act), but I really hurt for elephants all over the world. I wish I had an elephant friend.

Elephants are highly social, intelligent beings who exhibit great honesty, all of which of course precludes them from becoming politicians. The world would be a better place if left to the animals rather than politicians! Sadly fate and the unconditional nature of animals has bestowed us with politicians! Fate is a cruel master! Human population explosion and rampant theft of habitat is driving us irreversibly down the dead end of a disaster of our own making!

Way too many humans on this earth. We need to control the population. Hope the elephants win this war.
