Back in Aug 09 I started the HELP SAVE THE BC BLACKBEARS facebook page as a response to the thought of these bears being executed. To my surprise, it garnered worldwide attention and allowed an open communication between myself and the Ministry. They are to be commended for taking our suggestions and it has actually set a precedent that PROVES, in certain cases, re-assimilation may be possible. Please visit HELP SAVE THE BC BLACK BEARS as there's still a long way to go. We're preparing for the upcoming spring and it's our hope the Ministry will be just as open to our suggestions at that time as they have been to date! Thanks! Doreen McCrindle

When it comes to pot, the bear is smarter than the average human!

The bears were completely innocent and thankfully were spared. They probably had no idea that they were even guard bears! (and may have even just been pets).

Only hope this victory for the bears leads to a better understanding of bears and their habitat here in B.C. The overall record for bear awareness in B.C. gets an F so many more are killed than saved, hope for change.

I'm so glad that these bears didn't end up having to pay for the stupidity of a human. Too often we blame the animals for something that humans started. We move into their territory and then punish them for coming into our yards. We feed them, then punish them because they become too human-dependent. This time, the animals actually won, and for that I give Thanks!

Thank God - hope they relocate them far away. If they get close to human population they will be killed for sure - as per usual!

Great news now if we can get the Yellowstone bison and wolves included that would be better still.

I'm so glad to hear this. These bears are innocent victims of mans foolish quest to escape reality and to make illegal money. They didn't want to participate, but were forced into it.
