It should be illegal to 'dump' a dog on grounds of old age. Hope his owners are 'dumped' in their old age.

I've tried to contact the Florida Alaskan Malamute Help & Rescue to ask them if they could rescue Dan. I have emailed them as well.
If you can also try, here is their link, phone & email.

I heard back from Florida Malamute Rescue. Here was their response:
"Dan looks more like a Siberian Husky from what we have seen in the various e-mails we have seen."
I am trying Siberian Husky Rescue now.

They could never have loved him. Poor little dog. I would have him myself if I was over there. Have shared on facebook. .. Good news-- I see from the posts on there that there is a chance some kind people will adopt him, trying to arrange it. ty Simone

Lots of activity on the facebook site - they are pulling out all stops to save him. And they need some financial help. Here is the link with a picture of DAN.

Dan is no longer listed on the Pet Harbor site for Miami Dade Animal Services & I hear that the FB group are working on picking him up & transporting him to the Orlando area. I'm greatly disappointed in the rescues I contacted. Responses & ideas for help not forthcoming at all.

You know Diane, I've learnt one thing - activism behind a keyboard is much easier than activism on the 'ground'.

Sending prayers for Dan and for those who are truly making an effort to save his life.

Thank you for caring.

Noted with disgust... these owners should be fined to help with Dan's relocation. At least they did not do what many dog owners in the area have done and that is dump him off in the Everglades to fend for himself.

Saying a prayer that this lovely dog who likely served his masters so well for so many years will get a forever home until he dies a natural death. Yes the picture looked very healthy and young. Don't know what to think about his not being listed anymore there but seems if they know tons of people are actively trying to connect with someone in the area that they would hold Dan a little longer.
