Thanks Simone, this is important. Once the dust died down everyone forgot the refugees. My brother-in-law is working out there and he is unable to travel without protection. If America wants to invade somewhere because they are bored, this would be well worthwhile!

Noted. Can't sign because of location. Once again, I'm bemused that an international issue limits signings to USA locations only.

The NPO's must be held accountable. They took the money and ran, creating more Hell for these poor Haitians.
What has Bill Clinton's organization done for Haiti lately? Follow the money!

Signed, noted and left a comment on FB, thanks, Simone. Humans are indeed top predators, they even prey on their own species. And in many ways our whole culture is set up to approve of violence against "the other" whether that other is race, gender, religion or class. The least we can do is to try and protect those who are preyed upon.

It is unfortunate that women and men from all countries, not just the U.S., cannot sign this. Why would anyone neglect to include everyone in such an important matter?

The international community took care of the basic needs and then just helped exacerbate other issues. The tent cities were a good temporary idea, but they allow for the spread of disease and that of sexual abuse/rape. Those issues were so obvious, and the aid they received particularly disheartening since all of the organizations are supposedly experienced in dealing with crisis situations.

Gillian, not everywhere is unsafe to travel. I was just there in January and walked the streets of Mirebalais at night without any escort. The US already invaded and took over Haiti and that is one of the many reasons for the shape that Haiti is in. We have done enough damage to them since their independence in 1804. France and the US forced them to pay a debt for their freedom that crushed the small country. Then we did everything we could to destroy their way of life. Bush and Clinton didn't help the situation in Haiti either when they were presidents. Gilian, we've done enough damage. It would be best if we stopped trying to control them and stopped forcing their government to succumb to our economic interests by sacrificing the well-being of their people. It is time for their new president to lift up their country without our interference and predation.
