Transgender identities are still considered a mental disorder by the World Health Organization (WHO). But, there is still hope since the WHO is currently revising the ICD (International Classification of Disease) and is to be released in 2015.

Signed petition. Again I express that I feel World Health Org. is the one who has mental problems. Just because people think different about life, doesn't mean that they are menally ill. Thanks Simone

We have a long way to go before we can change the way that people think

Disorder or not, it is undeniably a condition which requires treatment. I would hope that removing it from the list of disorders would not endanger the notion that supplying treatment should be mandatory. And by treatment, of course I mean providing to the medical and psychological assistance requested by each person so that they can transition as they see fit.

Perhaps it is better to reduce the stigma associated with mental disorders, since just about anyone could probably be diagnosed with some degree of at least one of the countless mental conditions that exist in this world. An unbiased and open-minded education is the best cure to many of society's ill, and transphobia is no exception.

You cannot currently send a star to donald because you have done so within the last week.
You cannot currently send a star to Carol because you have done so within the last week.
You cannot currently send a star to Helle because you have done so within the last week.

I really like being in a community where people are unafraid to stand up for what is right.

How can it not be a disorder when someone think they are in a wrong gender body?

If wasn't a disorder the sufferers wouldnt seek out the extreme treatments required to fix it for them.

The ones who have a mental disorder is those who can't accept trensgenders. They are just as equal as those who aren't.

What does acceptance and equal rights have to do with whether someone suffers from a mental disorder or not?

Denying something isn't acceptance - it isnt even tolerance.

Whats next? Should we demand Anorexia shouldnt be considered a disorder? Many anorexics certainly claim it isnt.
